This article contains Spoilers for Severance Season 2, Episode 10, "Cold Harbor."
The highly-anticipated Season 2 of Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed Severancehas come and gone as the finale premiered on March 21. The finale’s closing scene saw Innie Mark (Adam Scott) run off with Helly R. (Britt Lower) after rescuing his outie’s wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman), from the testing floor at Lumon - a choice that may have had some fans scratching their heads.
Innie Mark displayed some interesting behavior prior to the finale as he couldn’t tell the difference between Helly and her outie, Helena Eagan, during a Lumon retreat. That mix-up, as well as a scene at the end of Severance’s ninth Season 2 episode, had fans wondering which version - Helly or Helena - was at the door during that pivotal final scene.

There are not many shows like “Adolescence.” Its story, which centers on the arrest of a 13-year-old boy for the murder of a girl the same age, dives into the kind of oppressively dark material that most shows try to avoid. The series also adopts a one-take style that makes each of its episodes not only visually dynamic and impressive to witness but also feel like they are each unfolding in a seamless, unbroken way.
“Adolescence,” in other words, is not a show that brings to mind many obvious comparisons. For those who would like to try to recreate their experience watching it, though, here are seven other unflinching crime dramas like “Adolescence” you should watch if you loved that Netflix series.
Wendell Pierce and Dominic West in “The Wire.” (HBO) “The Wire” (2002)
When it comes to pace and style, “The Wire” could not be any more different from “Adolescence.

Picture this: you're an employee in a stark office building, tasked to monitor seemingly nonsensical data on a computer screen. All you need to do is press appropriate buttons on your keyboard without question, and repeat the process till you reach a certain quota. That is until one day, something strange and untoward happens, making you question the very fabric of your existence and immediate reality. No, this is not a peek into the purpose of the MicroData Refinement (Mdr) department in "Severance," but the contextual premise of "The Stanley Parable," the critically acclaimed video game that positions choice at its center. The similarities between the Apple TV+ show and the brilliant indie game don't stop here, as these thematic overlaps exist for a reason. Turns out, "Severance" creator Dan Erickson drew inspiration from "The Stanley Parable," as confirmed in a 2022 Reddit Ama.

This post contains spoilers for "Severance."
It is impossible to narrow down the core of "Severance" to a few overarching themes. The Apple TV+ series has never shied away from tackling complex notions of identity, often shaped by grief, loss, cult-like devotion, or the ills of living in an aggressive capitalist culture. The very idea of severance as a procedure raises ethical questions, as those who willingly chose it were not fully made aware of what they were getting into. Lumon Industries, the terrible, conniving evil that looms over the world of the show, has its claws hooked into a dozen malpractices that are masked as pioneering feats of progress. Every victim that Lumon has claimed has been an experimental guinea pig for them, serving some sort of hidden purpose while being constantly abused and lied to. However, one particular social demographic has suffered the brunt of Lumon's grand and evil scheme: women.

If the Season 2 finale of Severance had you seeing red, that's exactly what the producers intended.
The bold new color palette — which was introduced so memorably in the final frame of the episode — was just one of the burning questions discussed in a standing room only Q&a on Saturday with the Apple TV+ series' creative team at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica, following a screening of the Season 2 finale. The panel included executive producer and director Ben Stiller; creator, executive producer, and writer Dan Erickson; executive producer and actor Adam Scott; executive producer and actor Patricia Arquette; and actors Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Gwendoline Christie, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, and Sarah Bock.
The event capped off American Cinematheque's Severance week, which also featured screenings of films starring the cast, including Zoolander (Stiller), Step Brothers (Scott), True Romance (Arquette), Barton Fink...

The following spoilers are mysterious and important. This article contains details from the season 2 finale of "Severance."
Season 2 of "Severance" just came to a spectacular end, but that isn't stopping the passionate fanbase from scouring every single inch of the last episode for hidden clues and deeper meaning that more casual audiences may have missed. The Apple TV+ drama has constantly rewarded observant -- some may say obsessive -- viewers, leaving all the mysterious goings-on over at Lumon Industries just ambiguous enough to support even the most outlandish fan-theories out there. Allusions to real-life conspiracy theories, never-ending speculation surrounding those pesky goats, and questions surrounding the exact nature of Cold Harbor are likely going to continue keeping those folks awake at night ... but at least one recurring belief that's been popping up on social media in the wake of the finale can now be safely considered debunked.

Spoilers ahead for “Severance” Season 2, Episode 10.
Heading into Season 2, “Severance” star Tramell Tillman had one request for series creator Dan Erickson and director Ben Stiller: “Please don’t make me dance in Season 2.”
“The Music Dance Experience [in Season 1] was so iconic, and I loved how people embraced that moment,” Tillman told TheWrap. “It has become meme-ed over and over and over again, it’s on T-shirts and whatnot. It’s beautiful. But there are some things that you can’t recreate.”
Tillman was adamant that he didn’t want to set up the expectation that Mr. Milchick dances every season. But when Stiller mentioned he was bringing in a marching band for the Season 2 finale, Tillman started to change his tune.
“I got excited. I sat up. I said, ‘Well, wait, what is this marching band? Is this a military-style marching band? Is this a band that’s a similar to those at HBCUs?...

This article contains spoilers for "Severance" season 2 in general, and Mr. Milchick in particular.
Seth Milchick (Tramell Tillman) is the kind of guy the protagonists of Mike Judge's 1999 black comedy "Office Space" would have nightmares about. He's a born middle manager with an exaggeratedly friendly and calm demeanor that nevertheless veers toward stern sharpness whenever someone starts pushing the boundaries of the Lumon policies he enforces. Sharply dressed, well-built, and nigh-unfailingly polite, Mr. Milchick seems like a James Bond villain's elite henchman who adheres to a white collar gimmick until it's time to put 007 in a headlock -- only, he never, ever drops the facade. After two seasons of "Severance," Milchick has only offered brief glimpses of a true human being underneath his businesslike exterior -- and even then, it tends to take extensive humiliation or physical pain for him to do so.

The conclusion of Severance Season 2 answered some questions while prompting many new ones, especially when the penultimate episode gets factored in alongside the eighth and seventh installments, setting several characters on new and uncertain paths.
The final scene of the 77-minute episode, titled “Cold Harbor” suggests all sorts of changes bound to occur in the show’s freshly renewed Season 3 announced this morning. After a harrowing sequence of events for Mark Scout’s (Adam Scott) innie including finishing the Cold Harbor file, accidentally killing the sinister Mr. Drummond (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson), saving Emile the goat’s life and rescuing Gemma (Dichen Lachman) from the Testing Floor, innie Mark can’t find it in himself to follow his outie’s wife out the exit stairwell door, and he makes the choice to run away with Helly R.

As Severance fans continue debating the innies and outies of Friday's watercooler Season 2 finale, the Apple TV+ show is in a strong position to grow like a black diamond watermelon at the 2025 Emmys.
Three years ago, for Season 1, the sci-fi show about office drones who separate their workplace memories from their normal memories received 14 Emmy nominations and won two (Best Main Title Design and Best Music Composition). Succession and Ozark (which have been put out to pasture) and Squid Game (which recently had a muted Season 2 return) bested Severance in all the above-the-line categories.
Severance's 2022 bids were for drama series, lead actor Adam Scott, supporting actress Patricia Arquette, supporting actor John Turturro, supporting actor Christopher Walken, director Ben Stiller, writer Dan Erickson, casting, main title theme music, main title design, music composition, picture editing x2, and production design.
Assuming it nabs those same nominations again, the show would make do with 13 citations.

The Severance Season 2 finale just dropped, and fans are still picking their jaws off the floor. Titled Cold Harbor, the episode took us deeper into Lumon’s twisted experiments, revealing that the mysterious project is very real and it’s directly tied to Gemma. aka Mark’s “dead” wife. Yeah, you read that right. She’s alive, and Lumon is doing something seriously messed up to her.
Mark’s innie is on the verge of uncovering the truth, but with Lumon tightening its grip, escape feels impossible. The cliffhanger sets the stage for a high-stakes Season 3, where identity, free will, and corporate power collide.

For the second season in a row, Severance ended on an epic cliffhanger. After some tricky coordination between Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and his severed “innie” self, Mark S., the Marks were able to successfully free Mark Scout’s wife, Gemma Scout (Dichen Lachman), from her surreal imprisonment on Lumon Industries’ Testing Floor and get her out of the building through the mysterious Exports Hall. However, at the last moment, Mark S. decides not to follow Gemma to freedom. Instead, he stays inside Lumon with his fellow “innie” and work girlfriend, Helly R. (Britt Lower).
It feels like a bittersweet moment for Gemma. She appears to be liberated from the unreasonable torture viewers saw her undergo in the mind-blowing episode “Chikhai Bardo” earlier this season. However, once again, Gemma finds herself separated from her husband. Lachman, for her part, enjoyed finally being part of the show's main action after being...

News of the acclaimed series’ third season renewal was met with widespread celebration among its devoted fans. Masterfully crafted by creator Dan Erickson and brought to life under Ben Stiller’s visionary direction, Severance explores the unsettling implications of Lumon Industries’ controversial “severance” procedure. Few concepts are as hauntingly original or thought-provoking as this dystopian division of self. Adam Scott shines as Mark Scout, the conflicted lead at the center of Severance. Mark’s struggle to untangle the blurred lines between his fractured identities becomes even more intense as Lumon’s seemingly perfect severance system begins to unravel. The show’s success is bolstered by a remarkable ensemble cast,...

Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower) are last seen fleeing through the emergency light-soaked halls of the severed floor running Kier knows where. While Mark chose to help break Gemma (Dichen Lachman) out from her Cold Harbor prison, he chose not to reunite his outie with his not-dead wife. On top of all that, it seems that the other innies of the floor are finally deciding to fight back against the Lumon administration.

Severance renewed for season 3 (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)
Apple TV+ is rewarding Severance fans with another season of the critically acclaimed sci-fi workplace drama. The streamer renewed the award-winning series for a third season, and Severance creator Dan Erickson claims it won’t take another three years to arrive.
“We’re hoping that there are no massive strikes or pandemics or fissures opening up in the crest of the Earth that end up delaying us. Barring that, I’d certainly hope that we’d get this one out a bit sooner,” said Erickson in an interview with Variety. “But, Severance has always been a show that takes a long time to make, and we’re proud of what we came up with, even though it took quite a long time.”
The series premiered on February 18, 2022, with season two debuting on January 17, 2025. The game-changing season two finale aired on March 20, 2025.

The Apple TV+’s sci-fi thriller premiered in 2022, introducing the mysterious cult world of the biotechnology corporation Lumon Industries, going through some unconventional experiments. In Season 2, the story continues, with employees now having “innie” and “outie” memories created by implanting a chip into their brains that allows them to have no recollection of the work once they leave and step into the personal world. The series features a huge cast, with Adam Scott playing Mark Scout, who has been “severed” and leads the department. The finale of Season 2 has ended with a bloody twist, one which, according to Ben Stiller, no one could have preempted.

This article contains spoilers for "Severance" season 2 episode 10, "Cold Harbor."
Mark Scout (Adam Scott) doesn't have a great time in the mind-bending "Severance" season 2 finale. Not only does his semi-reintegrated mind have to deal with the mighty task of saving his wife Gemma (Dichen Lachman) and possibly the whole world from the completion of the Cold Harbor file, but he has to convince what turns out to be his most dangerous enemy to team up with him. What's worse, that enemy is ... himself.
Yeah, so Mark's innie and outie really do not get along. The video camera conversation between the two starts amicably enough, but soon becomes increasingly tense. Outie Mark's dirty looks and eye-rolling frustration when the camera isn't rolling make it obvious that he considers the innie both inconvenient and inferior, while Mark S. soon catches up and develops a survival agenda of his own. The innie is...

“Making ‘Severance’ has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of,” executive producer and director Ben Stiller said in an official statement. “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

Today might be the 10th and final episode of Severance Season 2 on Apple TV, but have no fear, because the beloved sci-fi thriller isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The hit show created by Dan Erickson that debuted in 2022 and managed to gain a cult following before it became Apple's most-watched series ever, has officially been renewed for Season 3.
Per Variety, Severance will be back for Season 3, but exactly when that will be is anyone's guess at this point. Praise Kier! “Severance” will return for Season 3 at Apple TV+.

That first season ultimately took home two wins for Outstanding Main Title Design and Outstanding Music Composition for a Series in the Original Dramatic Score subcategory.
Season 2 has been similarly praised by critics as both installments currently have 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. During its premiere week, “Severance” Season 2 secured 598 million viewing minutes, according to Nielsen measurements. That week the series ranked No. 4 on the audience measurement company’s weekly list of the top streamed original content, a rarity for Apple TV+.

Praise Kier! “Severance” has been renewed for Season 3.
The news comes the day after the Season 2 finale of the Apple TV+ workplace thriller.
What started as a niche sci-fi mystery with a cult following became Apple TV+’s most-watched series ever during its second season run, according to the streamer.
In the series, created by Dan Erickson and directed and executive produced by Ben Stiller, Adam Scott stars as Mark Scout, a man who undergoes a procedure that separates his work life and personal life. As Mark’s “outie” grieves the loss of his wife, his “innie” lives an entirely different existence behind the walls of the shady biotech company Lumon. Of course, Lumon and its experimental severance procedure aren’t exactly what they are advertised to be.

Major spoilers for "Severance" season 2 follow.
There's no question that "Severance" has been the biggest TV series of 2025 so far. The show's long-awaited sophomore season kicked off on February 18, improving on an already popular season 1 in pretty much every way. Each member of the main cast shows up with some great new material, the tangled storylines delve deeper into core sci-fi ideas, and an ever-fluid visual style has made "Severance" one of the most aesthetically striking series currently airing. But more to the point, the mysteries of "Severance" have launched it to the top of the zeitgeist, bringing a level of intrigue and online theory-crafting that evokes all-timer mystery box shows like "Lost."
Does the finale make good on all of that promise? For the most part, yes. As with season 1, "Severance" season 2 ends with an action-packed finale that brings answers to some of the show's biggest questions, while also setting up more major cliffhangers.

Three years ago, fans became enthralled with the Apple TV+ series Severance. The mind-bending thriller takes viewers on a journey with Mark (Adam Scott) as an outie, grieving the death of his wife and as an innie handling a boring, monotonous desk job. By the end, Mark started to get suspicious and, through a loophole called Overtime Contingency, gave his innie a short period of time in the outside world. What he discovered shook him to his core. And the way the season ended devastated fans with a burning cliffhanger.
The long three-year wait between seasons, thanks in part to the writer’s and actor’s strikes, made that non-resolute ending even more frustrating. While Severance has yet to be renewed for a third season, it likely will be. Based on the Season 2 finale “Cold Harbor,” viewers are already begging for a continuation of the story that left them punching the air in anger.

Warning: This post contains spoilers about Severance Season 2.
Severance, Apple TV+’s hit sci-fi thriller, ended its second season Thursday night with a tense finale that answered one of the show’s biggest questions — what exactly is Cold Harbor? — and found innie Mark S. choosing his autonomy over sacrificing himself for Mark Scout. Here’s what happened in the Severance Season 2 finale, “Cold Harbor.”
The truth about Cold Harbor
“Cold Harbor” picks up where “The After Hours” left off, with Mark S., Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette), and Devon Scout-Hale (Jenn Tullock) meeting in a severed room at the birthing center to discuss getting Gemma (Dichen Lachman) out of Lumon before the company kills her because her use to them is finished. The plan is for Mark S. to finish the Cold Harbor project file and rush down to the Testing Floor where Gemma is being held, where Mark will save her.

A new report has stated that Apple TV+ is losing more than $1 billion a year on streaming. While Apple has been around as a company for decades, it launched its streaming service, Apple TV+, on November 1, 2019. Since then, they have produced many acclaimed TV series, including For All Mankind, Slow Horses, Bad Sisters, and Ted Lasso. One of their most popular shows is the sci-fi workplace drama Severance, which features performances by Adam Scott, John Turturro, and Patricia Arquette. The Severance season 2 finale drops on the platform tomorrow, March 21.
However, things are not looking good for the streamer as per a recent Deadline report. According to the source, Apple TV+ is losing an estimated $1 billion a year on streaming. This loss comes from the tech company spending around $5 billion annually on streaming, though it attempted to cut that total down by around $500 million last year.

This mind-bending sci-fi thriller left us on a massive cliffhanger back in 2022, with Mark, Helly, Irving, and Dylan making some shocking discoveries about Lumon Industries. Now, the new season is here to (hopefully) answer all those burning questions while probably introducing a few more to keep us guessing.

For those who need a refresher, Severance is all about employees whose memories are split between work and personal life. Their “Innie” only knows the office, while their “Outie” has no idea what happens inside Lumon’s walls. It’s a wild concept that raises some serious ethical concerns, especially as the show digs deeper into the true purpose of the severed floor.

Severance is the latest piece of fiction taking over the internet, and we are loving it here! The Ben Stiller directorial is fascinating, mind-boggling, mysterious and keeps us on our toes at all times. However, the Severance Season 2 finale is just around the corner, and the fans have a lot of questions. Will the loose ends be finally tied in the very last episode? Let’s find out.
Starring Adam Scott in the leading role, Severance has a unique premise from the get-go that will hook you right in. The story introduces a company, Lumon Industries, and their employees take part in a mind-bending experiment called “severance,” a procedure that splits their work and personal memories. While at the office, they have no clue about their outside lives, and once they leave, they forget everything about their job. This creates two versions of each worker—the ‘innie’ and the ‘outie.

In typical “Severance” fashion, there are a lot of spinning plates heading into the Season 2 finale.
The penultimate episode found Mark (Adam Scott), Devon (Jen Tullock) and Cobel (Patricia Arquette) band together to question Mark’s innie and figure out how to rescue Gemma (Dichen Lachman). Irving (John Turturro) seems to be heading off to greener pastures while Dylan (Zach Cherry) handed in his resignation, and Helly (Britt Lower) continues to struggle with her outie being an Eagan.
There are lots of questions yet to be answered, and hopefully some come in the Season 2 finale. This is what you need to remember and keep in mind before Friday’s ending.
What is Cold Harbor?
When we see Gemma in Episode 7, she has been severed a number of times and each innie is experiencing a different mundane task – going to the dentist, writing thank you cards, flying in a plane – but...

The Twilight Zone is one of the most brilliant and trippy series ever made. Created by Rod Serling, the CBS series is a virtual and psychologically thrilling trip into the unknown. The Twilight Zone premiered over six decades ago, and it still holds up very well as far as the stories and the visual experience go. Maybe that’s why the Jordan Peele reboot failed: it couldn’t capture the same magic as the Serling series did. So, if you loved the trippy stories, inventive settings, and compelling characters in The Twilight Zone, here are some similar shows you should check out next.

The 2025 Emmy nominations won't be announced until July 15, but Gold Derby already has a head start on handicapping the races.
First things first, we are predicting last year's Best Comedy Series champion, Hacks, to win again for its upcoming season, which premieres April 10 on Max. After all, the Emmys love repeats. The Season 4 plot follows legendary stand-up comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) as she gears up for her nightly talk show with the help of her on-again/off-again comedy writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder). Both Smart and Einbinder are also leading their respective Emmy contests for Best Comedy Actress and Best Comedy Supporting Actress.
Severance is back for Season 2 after a three-year delay, and it's expected to receive a goat-load of Emmy love. Adam Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro, and Zach Cherry play office workers at the sinister Lumon Industries, who all agree to separate their workplace memories from their external memories.

Ahead of Severance's second season finale on Friday, Gold Derby has broken down the show's Emmy potential in the top races for series and acting.
For its first season in 2022, Severance was nominated for 14 Emmys and won two craft awards, for main title design and music composition. The series ended up playing third fiddle to Succession Season 3 and Squid Game Season 1. While Succession is long gone, Squid Game is back this cycle for its second season, though the critical response was somewhat muted.
The four nominated Severance performers the last time around were Adam Scott as Mark Scout in lead actor, Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel in supporting actress, and John Turturro as Irving Bailiff and Christopher Walken as Burt Goodman in supporting actor. Severance was also nominated for director Ben Stiller and writer Dan Erickson. Flash-forward three years, and the Apple TV+ sci-fi show about office drones who separate...

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Severance season 2, episode 9, "The After Hours."
Severance star Sarah Bock breaks down why her character, Miss Huang, shows Dylan (Zach Cherry) empathy. For most of this season, Miss Huang has had a mostly harsh attitude toward the innies and made an effort to avoid humanizing them, including not wanting them to throw a funeral for Irving (John Turturro). However, in Severance season 2, episode 9, Miss Huang apologizes to Dylan after the heartbreak he endures with his wife, and Miss Huang even apologizes for not facilitating the visitations better. This scene takes place after Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) tells Miss Huang that she is being transferred.
During an interview with Decider, Bock was asked why Miss Huang seemed to soften her attitude towards the innies during her final hours on the Severed Floor. Bock reveals that Miss Huang's atittude changes because she now views the innies as human,...

On the latest episode of Severance, "The After Hours," we bid goodbye to Irving Bailiff (John Turturro), who's been investigating the shady Lumon Corporation. Apparently he was getting too close, because his friend Burt (Christopher Walken), a former Lumon employee, put him on a train traveling far, far away from the creepy, icy town of Kier.
Still, it was painful to watch him go, especially after he and Burt had developed a love connection down in the bowels of the Lumon building, where their "Innie" personas labored without any memory of what happened in the outside world. If you'd told me before I watch this show that John Turturro and Christopher Walken would share one of the most achingly romantic moments in TV history, I would have laughed you off the face of the Earth, but here we are.
It sounds like the actors built up a real rapport behind the scenes,...
