The Boondock Saints may have taken its fair share of inspiration from other hit crime movies, but director Troy Duffy has revealed one of his stars shocked reactions to a later movies striking similarities. Following the story of Irish twins and vigilantes Connor and Murphy MacManus (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus), Duffy has previously revealed that his debut film drew a great deal of inspiration from Quentin Tarantinos Reservoir Dogs. Impressed with Tarantinos use of unconventional flashbacks, he intentionally used a similar approach for Willem Dafoes FBI agent Paul Smecker.
However, during an interview with Screen Rant for the movies 25th anniversary, Duffy also revealed that Billy Connolly called him in shock upon learning that Guy Ritchie appeared to appropriate one of Duffys scenes for Snatch. Good things come to those who wait, they say. For those who are fans of The Boondocks Saints, that wait has lingered for quite a while, but it is set to end soon. Starring Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery, The Boondocks Saints was not an appreciated project when it first premiered in 1999. However, just like wine gets better with age, the movie is now a beloved cult classic with a sequel, The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day, which arrived a decade later. Conversations surrounding the production of The Boondock Saints 3 have swirled around for a while now. However, in recent months, it has begun to gather significant pace.

Troy Duffy predicts when The Boondock Saints 3 will be released without his involvement. Duffy wrote and directed the first two films following the Irish-Catholic twin brothers who become vigilantes and clean up Boston's criminal underworld in the name of God. Initially a critical and commercial failure, the first film became a cult classic and was followed by a sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day in 2009, which was a modest success. Now, The Boondock Saints 3 is in development with Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus reprising their roles.

The Boondock Saints director Troy Duffy gleefully admits that he ripped off Quentin Tarantino for the Willem Dafoe scenes. Written and directed by Duffy in his feature debut, the 1999 film follows Irish twin brothers who turn into vigilantes after killing two Russian mobsters in self-defense and, following a shared epiphany, the brothers embark on a mission to cleanse Boston of its criminal underworld in the name of God, all while being tracked by an FBI Agent. The movie stars Willem Dafoe, Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, David Della Rocco, and Billy Connolly.

The first two movies have a strong cult following, and now The Boondock Saints 3 is coming to revive the series after more than a decade. Perhaps one of the most famous independent films of all time, 1999's The Boondock Saints follows two Irish-Catholic brothers in Boston who decide to take the law into their own hands and become blood-soaked vigilantes. Its notoriously turbulent production and violent storytelling drew an interested audience, and The Boondock Saints became an instant cult hit.
The movie's stylish action sequences and dark comedy struck a chord, though it took a while for a sequel to come together. Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery both returned for 2009's The Boondock Saints II: All Saint's Day, where the brothers return from exile to face a figure from their father's past. After The Boondocks Saints dropped in 1999, it quite rapidly became a cult classic starring Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery in their roles as the MacManus Brothers. Despite its initial struggles with critics, the film would go on to earn a sequel a decade later with the production of The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day. The original film followed Flanery and Norman Reedus as a pair of Irish Catholic vigilantes who embark on a dangerous mission to rid the city of Boston of its criminal elements. A third installment has been in discussion for many years with an announcement made in 2021. Flanery has now confirmed that filming on The Boondock Saints 3 will begin this coming spring.

Sean Patrick Flanery confirms that production on The Boondock Saints 3 will begin this coming spring. The original Boondock Saints followed Flanery and Norman Reedus as twin Irish Catholic vigilantes who embark on a mission to rid Boston of its criminals. A sequel later followed, and a third movie was discussed for years after. The Boondock Saints 3 was officially announced in 2021, with both Flanery and Reedus returning. However, updates beyond that have been slow.
During a recent Q&a moderated by Screen Rant's own Jeff Heller, Flanery was asked if he could provide any additional information about part 3 of the franchise after Reedus confirmed to Screen Rant that the film was actually happening. While he could not share any more specific details, he was able to confirm that he had received word from Reedus the previous day about the production window. Here's what Flanery had to say:
That motherf***er text me last night.

The first time I watched the cult classic action film The Boondock Saints, I was seventeen and immediately fell in with the 93% fresh rating from audience members on Rotten Tomatoes. A certified rotten, 17% rating from critics? Psh, I didn’t care.
Years later, I now know the truth. This is a terrible movie. It’s beyond even laughably bad and into the realm of just plain outright bad. Boondock Saints 3 aims to surpass the poor critical reception of the first two movies. The original film was critically panned but gained a cult following on home video. Boondock Saints 3 needs a simpler story and more focus on comedy to succeed.
The Boondock Saints 3 has been confirmed to be in development, and it needs to break the unflattering record the series currently has with Rotten Tomatoes. Released in 1999, The Boondock Saints follows Connor and Murphy MacManus, a pair of brothers in Boston who become vigilante killers targeting one of the larger mobs in town. The film's hyper-violence and dark comedy made it highly controversial when it was released, leading to a critical drubbing and a major box-office disappointment.

Before his days as one of the most beloved characters in The Walking Dead franchise, Norman Reedus began to stake his claim to fame when he starred in The Boondock Saints, which arrived in 1999. Not exactly a favorite of critics at the time, the film starred Reedus as Murphy and Sean Patrick Flanery as Connor. The pair portrayed two Catholic brothers turned vigilantes who take it upon themselves to rid the city of Boston of its criminal underbelly. However, the bloody nature of the war they wage on crime sees them as the target of Willem Dafoe's FBI agent Smecker.

Norman Reedus' Boondock Saints 3 Update Is Exactly What I Needed To Hear About The Franchises Return
Norman Reedus' update on The Boondock Saints 3 eases concerns about the sequel, promising some resolution to the previous movie's cliifhanger. There is a new creative team on Boondock Saints 3, with Thunder Road Films (John Wick) taking over. Over 15 years on from the second film, hopefully Boondock Saints 3 will be worth the extended wait.
Norman Reedus' latest update on The Boondocks Saints 3 sets my mind at ease about the sequel. Before The Walking Dead made him a huge TV star, I was always a fan of Norman Reedus. He was the type of character actor who would pop up in movies like Blade 2 or Gossip and basically steal every scene. The Walking Dead only confirmed his star power, as his character Daryl evolved from a supporting guest character to becoming one of the franchise's main players.
Of course, The Boondock Saints duology was Reedus' biggest claim to fame before The Walking Dead.

Quentin Tarantino‘s 1994 sophomore feature Pulp Fiction wasn’t just a major break out hit. It changed the face of cinema in the 1990s, both by helping bring attention to indie and foreign films, and by inspiring a host imitators. When audiences lined up to watch Tarantino’s bloody, whip-smart movie, studios rushed to fill theaters and video stores with more stories about loquacious hitmen, monologuing bank robbers, and foul-mouthed gun molls.
In most cases, these knockoffs provided cheap thrills, heavy on the violence and pop-cultural references but low on Tarantino’s sense of composition and ear for unique dialogue. In the best cases, Pulp Fiction‘s success made way for other great movies to get made, oddball films ignored by the studios until Tarantino convinced them that they could make money.

Boondock Saints 3 is happening at the perfect time, but worries remain about potential damage to the franchise. Nostalgia and Norman Reedus' fame give the film great chances for success, with interest already guaranteed. The quirky nature of the original film presents a challenge for the sequel, as failure could tarnish the franchise.
The Boondock Saints 3 is finally happening, and at the perfect time too, but that doesn't do much to quell my fears. The upcoming threequel has been a long time coming, with the last movie in the franchise, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, released in 2009. Boondock Saints 3 seemed to be in development hell, but after all this time, this could be a good thing. The film has never had a better chance of success, but given the cult-classic status of the original 1999 movie, I'm still worried about how a new installment could damage the franchise.

After over a decade in development hell, The Boondock Saints III is finally happening. Norman Reedus, who co-led the previous two entries, recently teased what fans can expect when the long-awaited threequel finally hits the big screen.
While speaking with Screen Rant to promote his upcoming movie, The Bikeriders, Reedus opened up about returning to one of his earliest roles, Murphy MacManus, in The Boondock Saints III. "It's happening. There's sort of a rough outline of a script. The opening sequence, I think they're keeping from that rough outline because it's crazy. It's crazy. It's basically the boys breaking out of prison. That's how it starts." The first two Boondock Saints movies never shied away from going all out with their action sequences, something that Reedus suggests will not change despite the omission of franchise creator Troy Duffy as director.

Norman Reedus reveals The Boondock Saints 3 will start with a wild prison break, promising an action-packed opening sequence. The new movie, produced by Thunder Road, is said to focus on new "Saints" and may feature return appearances from familiar faces like Willem Dafoe.

The Boondock Saints is the very definition of a cult classic. It survived a tepid box office, exploded in popularity when it hit home video, and continues to inspire debate to this day. Some find the vigilante exploits of brothers Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Seamus McMurphy (Norman Reedus) to be an ultraviolent good time. Others don't, and unfavorably compare it to Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. The Boondocks Saints would spawn a sequel and a third film is currently in the works but what many film fans may not know is that writer/director Troy Duffy was the subject of a documentary, Overnight. The documentary chronicles the events that led to The Boondock Saints hitting theaters, but it also reveals how Duffy's hubris made him into a one-hit wonder.

Boondock Saints III: Norman Reedus & Sean Patrick Flanery Returning? ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Despite high expectations for a trilogy following the release of the second Boondock Saints film in 2009, the likelihood of its materializing decreased as difficulties arose. However, there is newfound hope with the confirmation of Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reprising their roles for the third part.
The revival of the 1999 cult classic film is currently in progress. Known for its thrilling sequences and dynamic choreography, this American vigilante action film is set to return. In 2009, when the second Boondock Saints film came out, it seemed all but inevitable that there would be a trilogy. As time went on, and obstacles arose, the idea faded further and further from reality. Hope, however, is never lost, as Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery will finally reprise their roles in Boondock Saints III.
As reported by Deadline, “The rebirth of the 1999 cult favorite film The Boondock Saints is upon us.” The American vigilante action film was a sort of proto-John Wick, with thrilling sequences and dynamic choreography. Thus, it’s particularly appropriate that Thunder Road, who have produced the John Wick saga, has signed on to help Dragonfly Films produce the following entry – or entries – to the Saints saga.

Original Boondock Saints stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery will both return for a third installment of the franchise, as Deadline reports, reprising their roles as Murphy and Connor MacManus respectively. Despite the consistent casting decisions, however, Troy Duffy, who directed both the original and the 2009 sequel The Boondocks Saints: All Saints Day, will not return to helm the project.
The announcement both affirms and amends a similar report from 2021. That report revealed Reedus and Flanery’s involvement, though Duffy was still set to direct at the time.
Though little has been revealed about the new film’s plot or production timeline, John Wick production house Thunder Road has officially joined current rights holder Dragonfly Films to help bring the sequel to life.

Bethesda and MachineGames recently unveiled a long-awaited video game in the form of "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle." The legendary video game studio behind "Fallout" and "Skyrim" has been working on a game set within the action/adventure franchise for several years, with the game originally announced back in 2021. The adventures of Indiana Jones made for one of the most iconic movie franchises in history. With Harrison Ford in the titular role and Steven Spielberg and George Lucas responsible for the stories, Raiders of the Lost Ark set a new benchmark for Hollywood adventure. After the conclusion of the then-trilogy of films, fans were treated to The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, a TV series that did exactly what its title promised. Starring Sean Patrick Flanery for most of the series, it delved into the boyhood adventures of cinema's greatest archaeologist.

Movie shootouts can vary in terms of violence, intensity, and scope, but the most enjoyable ones are often the most fun to watch. Western movies have dramatic shootouts, crime films have personal gunfights, and action movies have high body counts. Some movie shootouts are exceptional because they demonstrate attention to detail, creative thinking, and use of long-range solutions. The industry has produced some unforgettable examples.
Movie shootouts are a staple of the action, crime, and Western genres going back to the start of cinema, but some examples are much better than others. The level of violence, the intensity of the stakes involved, the creativity, and the scope of the movie can lend credence to the caliber and quality of any given movie shootout, but some are among the best simply because they're a lot of fun to watch. The timing of the sequence may also factor into the equation, as...

Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones & Harrison Ford explores the untold story of how the actor became Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. The documentary features interviews with Ford, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and others involved in the film franchise. Spielberg emphasizes that no other actor could fill Ford's shoes as Indiana Jones. Ford's career was transformed thanks to his collaborations with Spielberg and Lucas.
It’s hard to believe anyone could play Indiana Jones apart from Harrison Ford. And while there have been actors like Sean Patrick Flanery and Corey Carrier take up the mantle outside of the film franchise, Ford is as associated with Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. as Bela Lugosi is with Dracula, or Mark Hamill is with Luke Skywalker. And a new documentary titled Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones & Harrison Ford is coming to Disney+. The original doc’s logline reads as follows:
