When we last left the Return of the Living Dead franchise, Part 2 had just flopped badly, satisfying neither critics nor fans of the first one. Making only $9 million worldwide after a $6 million budget, what was once thought to be a burgeoning series of movies in the mold of Friday the 13th looked deader than a week-old corpse. But as we all know, you can’t keep a good zombie down, and after the man who held the rights to the Living Dead name, Tom Fox, decided he didn’t want to be in the ghoul business any longer, he sold the rights, which eventually ended up at Trimark Pictures, a small studio specializing in horror pictures like Warlock, Leprechaun and Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive. Trimark saw there was potential still pumping in the Living Dead’s veins and decided to make a third entry, although this one would be...

Horror masters Brian Yuzna and John Penney have joined forces to launch the brand new genre label Dark Arts Entertainment, and first up from the distribution company is the film Terror Firma.
Dark Arts Entertainment will release Terror Firma on Blu-ray August 27, 2024.
Spinning a modern-day allegory of the turbulent times we’re living in, Terror Firma is described as a sci-fi thriller and debut film from writer-director Jake Macpherson. “It weaves a dark, out-of-this-world mystery of family, betrayal, and deadly flora,” Dark Arts previews.
In the film, “When struggling artist Lola has nowhere else to go, she uncomfortably leans on her older brother Louis for help. They haven’t seen each other in over a year and the awkwardness is hard to hide as he welcomes her to stay with him in his run-down East Hollywood home. Update: The Popcorn Frights festival in Florida has revealed that there will be a special presentation of the “lost cut” of Return of the Living Dead III at 10pm on August 10th at the Savor Cinema Fort Lauderdale, with director Brian Yuzna in attendance!
The original article follows:
Several years ago, director Brian Yuzna’s Return of the Living Dead III (watch it Here) got a great special edition Blu-ray release as part of the Vestron Video Collector’s Series… but now a discovery has been made that has fans of the film hoping for a new release as soon as possible: a VHS tape of the “first cut” of Return of the Living Dead III, featuring almost 8 minutes of additional, never before seen footage, has been unearthed! That tape is now in the hands of filmmaker Dustin Ferguson, who took to social media to share a picture of the tape,...

Love never dies! Not for the doomed couple at the center of director Brian Yuzna’s gory zombie sequel, Return of the Living Dead 3, and not for dedicated horror fans.
Filmmaker Dustin Ferguson revealed on Facebook that he’s acquired the “lost” first cut of Yuzna’s film, containing 8 minutes of never before seen footage.
He writes, “Return of The Living Dead 3 fans! We have acquired the ‘lost’ 1st cut of ‘Return of The Living Dead 3’! It features almost 8 minutes of additional, never-before-seen footage not in the Unrated version! No information exists anyDwhere about this! More details soon!”
The announcement comes with a photo of the T-120 VHS Master containing the cut, with Ferguson teasing that plans are underway for a physical and/or digital release and an announcement forthcoming.
The third entry in this zombie franchise presents a gory Romeo and Juliet story only director Brian Yuzna could deliver.

How often do we see a sequel to a spinoff that is actually a lot of fun? What if you then also made it a tragic love story that involves zombies? That sounds like a Roger Corman or Troma movie but in actuality it’s Return of the Living Dead III (watch it Here) and its from channel favorite Brian Yuzna. Return of the Living Dead is a stone cold classic and is one that I sometimes prefer watching over any of the original Romero trilogy due to how different it is and how it sets up its own rules. Part 2 I have great memories of seeing on TV at my Nana’s house in Santa Ana, California on an old tube TV. It skates that Evil Dead II line of leaning much further into the comedy realm than the first, which is pretty funny in its own way and right.

Zyzzyx Road holds the title for the lowest-grossing movie ever, making just $30 at the box office. The film was made specifically for distribution overseas, but a Screen Actors Guild contract required a U.S. theatrical release. Other movies like Storage 24 and The Objective also had extremely low box office grosses, but Zyzzyx Road remains at the bottom.
As Hollywood is full of billion-dollar blockbuster franchises, it may come as a surprise that the lowest-grossing movie of all time made just $30. Shockingly, that movie was not some obscure film but rather a 2006 feature starring actors who were, at the time, well-known. The thriller Zyzzyx Road featured Katherine Heigl, who was already receiving acclaim for playing the fan-favorite Grey's Anatomy character, Izzie Stevens, at the time, and Tom Sizemore, who had supporting roles in several blockbusters at that point of his career, including Saving Private Ryan, Red Planet, Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down.

John Penney Set To Release His Third Novel It Comes Back: "John Penney, known for writing horror film favorites Return of the Living Dead 3 and The Kindred, is set to release his third novel with It Comes Back. An evil presence preys on the trauma, guilt and people’s unsuccessful attempts to run away from their past mistakes.
It knows what you did… It will use it against you.
Allison Cutter is just a typical housewife living in California with her husband Ray. One night she wakes up to find herself alone in her bed with Ray nowhere in sight. She looks for him, but instead of finding her husband, she finds a different man in her kitchen. A completely nude man with slashed wrists raiding her refrigerator. Before Allison can call for help, she is stabbed seven times in the back. What follows is a story of a...

Cary Elwes is a popular actor known for cult classics The Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men in Tights, but his role as Dr. Lawrence Gordon in Saw made him stand out as a talented film star who excels in and elevates the diverse horror scene. Elwes began acting for the genre in 1985 and has accumulated a short yet quintessential filmography of horror films. Each Cary Elwes horror movie can be ranked by its macabre quality and impact.
Though Cary Elwes does not play the antagonist in every horror film he's starred in, he shines when he is portraying the darker side of mankind even outside of horror. In the fairytale comedy Ella Enchanted, he perfectly chews the scenery up as the conniving Edgar who would do anything to become king. He has proven, namely in Elwes' role of Dr. Lawrence Gordon, that he can exude a seamless dichotomy of...

Ahead of the World premiere screening of Reborn at Arrow Video FrightFest Halloween – which takes place at Cineworld, Leicester Square on November 3rd 2018, Julian Richards discusses the torturerous challenges of Daddy’s Girl, why he wishes every actress was like Barbara Crampton and future plans, including directing the English language remake of Rabies.
After six years away from directing, you have two films, Reborn and Daddy’s Girl poised for distribution. Why these two very different films now?
My previous film Shiver was completed in 2012 and it took longer for me to get back into the directing saddle because of commitments I had to my sales company Jinga Films. The company was growing quickly and needed more of my time and energy. We had grown from handling three films a year to handling ten films a year and our titles were getting stronger. If you’ve been keeping any eye on the BBFC website this news won’t come as that much of a surprise… However, Lionsgate UK have officially announced today the launch of the Vestron Collectors Series line of Blu-rays here in the UK! Yes, no longer will you have to fork over £30-40 to import the well-received Vestron Blus, instead you can get them right here in Blighty. The catch? It looks, at least from this announcement, that we won’t be getting All the Vestron titles – after all, there’s no Waxwork 2 included on the UK Blu.

Given just how lousy with zombies our current pop culture climate has become over the last decade or so, it’s hard to remember that the walking dead were out of favor as recently as the 1990s. The decade had a few bright spots (Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive, aka Braindead is a stone-cold classic, as is Michele Soavi’s Dellamorte Dellamore, aka Cemetery Man), but on the whole there weren’t a lot of memorable zombie movies coming out of the Clinton decade. Well, along comes the new Vestron Video Collector’s Series Blu-ray of Brian Yuzna’s Return of the Living Dead 3 to remind us that at least one more terrific zombie movie did come out in the ’90s, but many horror fans slept on it. Hopefully that changes now.

Brian Yuzna is known by horror fans for directing a number of cult classics over the years, including Bride of Re-Animator, Society, and The Dentist. He was also the director on Return of the Living Dead 3 and we have a new Q&A where Brian discusses his experience making the movie and teases potential sequels to his past films. This Q&A is courtesy of the Horror Channel, which will be broadcasting Return of the Living Dead 3 on Saturday, November 2nd at 10:40pm:
Q: Did you know from a young age that you wanted to work in the movie industry?
By: No, I didn’t. Like most kids, I loved movies; and I saw some scary ones at a young age that really disturbed me. That gave me an interest in horror for the rest of my life. But I never imagined that you could actually make a living making movies.

Lots of movies bomb at the box office — even movies featuring big stars from hit TV medical dramas of the moment. But when 2006 indie thriller Zyzzyx Road came out, its lack of success lit up the Internet. Because Zyzzyx Road wasn’t just a failure: it was an epic, historic, astonishing failure that brought in a whopping gross of…30 bucks. That’s right, 30 U.S. dollars. Total.

"I am confident it will make us more than $30." John Penney wrote, directed and produced the film, in which a family man becomes involved with a femme fatale

Brian Yuzna (Re-Animator, Dagon) will produce a trio of 3-D horror movies to be made in Indonesia. The slate is the one of the first initiatives from Komodo Film, a new Jakarta-based production shingle owned by Yuzna, former A Film topper San Fu Maltha ("Black Book") and Indonesian distributor Queen Imperial Films. New company is partnered with the Media Development Authority of Singapore. First up on the 3-D roster is "Amphibious," a thriller about a giant sea scorpion that Yuzna will direct from a script he penned with John Penney. Pic will be co-produced by Infinite Frameworks of Singapore. Shooting is slated to begin in March on Batam Island.

Of all the strange things Brian Yuzna’s name has been attached to over the years, an Indonesian trio of 3D films is probably the strangest yet. Yet, Variety is reporting that the Re-Animator producer is working through Komodo Film, another foreign company Yuzna owns, to develop all three.
First up is Amphibious, about a giant sea scorpion, which Yuzna will direct from a script he wrote with John Penney. Shooting on that begins in March, so I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about it soon.
Next will be Necronauts, which Yuzna will only serve production duties on, handing the directorial reigns over to Brett Leonard. That one is about a “journey into the realm of death” that was penned by novelist Terry Bisson.
But here’s where it gets really cool; Richard Stanley (Dust Devil, Hardware) will direct the third film, Cold Blooded, about a vacationing man...
