Horror masters Brian Yuzna and John Penney have joined forces to launch the brand new genre label Dark Arts Entertainment, and first up from the distribution company is the film Terror Firma.

Dark Arts Entertainment will release Terror Firma on Blu-ray August 27, 2024.

Love never dies! Not for the doomed couple at the center of director Brian Yuzna’s gory zombie sequel, Return of the Living Dead 3, and not for dedicated horror fans.

Filmmaker Dustin Ferguson revealed on Facebook that he’s acquired the “lost” first cut of Yuzna’s film, containing 8 minutes of never before seen footage.

He writes, “Return of The Living Dead 3 fans! We have acquired the ‘lost’ 1st cut of ‘Return of The Living Dead 3’! It features almost 8 minutes of additional, never-before-seen footage not in the Unrated version! No information exists anyDwhere about this! More details soon!”

The announcement comes with a photo of the T-120 VHS Master containing the cut, with Ferguson teasing that plans are underway for a physical and/or digital release and an announcement forthcoming.

The third entry in this zombie franchise presents a gory Romeo and Juliet story only director Brian Yuzna could deliver.

How often do we see a sequel to a spinoff that is actually a lot of fun? What if you then also made it a tragic love story that involves zombies? That sounds like a Roger Corman or Troma movie but in actuality it’s Return of the Living Dead III (watch it Here) and its from channel favorite Brian Yuzna. Return of the Living Dead is a stone cold classic and is one that I sometimes prefer watching over any of the original Romero trilogy due to how different it is and how it sets up its own rules. Part 2 I have great memories of seeing on TV at my Nana’s house in Santa Ana, California on an old tube TV. It skates that Evil Dead II line of leaning much further into the comedy realm than the first, which is pretty funny in its own way and right.

Zyzzyx Road holds the title for the lowest-grossing movie ever, making just $30 at the box office. The film was made specifically for distribution overseas, but a Screen Actors Guild contract required a U.S. theatrical release. Other movies like Storage 24 and The Objective also had extremely low box office grosses, but Zyzzyx Road remains at the bottom.

As Hollywood is full of billion-dollar blockbuster franchises, it may come as a surprise that the lowest-grossing movie of all time made just $30. Shockingly, that movie was not some obscure film but rather a 2006 feature starring actors who were, at the time, well-known. The thriller Zyzzyx Road featured Katherine Heigl, who was already receiving acclaim for playing the fan-favorite Grey's Anatomy character, Izzie Stevens, at the time, and Tom Sizemore, who had supporting roles in several blockbusters at that point of his career, including Saving Private Ryan, Red Planet, Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down.

Award-winning writer and director John Penney has launched a new Crowdfundr where fans can help shape the story of his third and much anticipated psychological horror novel, ‘It Comes Back.’

In Reborn, a stillborn baby girl is abducted by a morgue attendant and brought back to life by electrokinetic power. On her sixteenth birthday she escapes captivity and sets out to find her birth mother leaving a trail of destruction behind her.

Filmed on location in Los Angeles, Reborn is written by Michael Mahin, from a story by Jeannie McGinnis who also produced through her company New Normal Productions. John Penney (Return Of The Living Dead III) serves as Executive Producer. Says McGinnis:

These days he might be making nonsense like Amphibious Creature of the Deep, but Brian Yuzna’s directorial career began on a high with the excellent body horror satire Society, followed up by a good Re-Animator sequel. Then in 1993 came Return of the Living Dead 3, which, while not matching Dan O’Bannon’s 1985 original, goes some way to righting the wrongs of Part II.

Experiments with “Trioxin” gas began in 1969. The idea was to resurrect the dead and use them as a zombie army. It didn’t go so well, and now the cadavers are locked away in tanks in a temporary government facility. (The facility recalls Day of the Dead’s underground bunker, although it looks rather like a Red Dwarf set at times.)

Yes, no longer will you have to fork over £30-40 to import the well-received Vestron Blus, instead you can get them right here in Blighty. The catch? It looks, at least from this announcement, that we won’t be getting All the Vestron titles – after all, there’s no Waxwork 2 included on the UK Blu.

Shia Labeouf’s war drama “Man Down” made headlines Tuesday after selling only one ticket during its UK opening weekend, grossing a total of £7 ($8.73), per ComScore. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has sold an extra two tickets, making its total gross $26.19.

Given just how lousy with zombies our current pop culture climate has become over the last decade or so, it’s hard to remember that the walking dead were out of favor as recently as the 1990s. The decade had a few bright spots (Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive, aka Braindead is a stone-cold classic, as is Michele Soavi’s Dellamorte Dellamore, aka Cemetery Man), but on the whole there weren’t a lot of memorable zombie movies coming out of the Clinton decade. The rumors were circulating but the press release that just arrived in my inbox confirms that Lionsgate will be releasing Return of the Living Dead 3 on Blu-Ray in November with the uncut version. We got the final specs and artwork for you down below. For those of you keeping track, Return of the Living Dead 3 will be #4 in the Vestron Video Collector’s Series Blu-Ray collection. These are limited edition but no numbers have been said so who knows how long these will be on the shelves.

Fantaspoa – International Fantastic Film Festival of Porto Alegre, the biggest genre film festival of Latin America will be back for its 8th edition, with 17 days of pure cinephilia, exhibiting 150 films – including 87 features from 32 countries: 5 having their world première, 12 in national première and 43 in their Latin America première. The 2011 Bram Stoker International Film Festival, running October 28th-31st, takes place in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England, and shows independent narrative features, documentaries, and shorts from around the world, many of which will be having their world or UK premieres at this year's fest. Read on for all the details regarding the lineup!

Below is a list of all the films screening this year. Other events include a Vampire Ball on Saturday, October 29th; a performance of The Feast of Blood on Sunday, October 30th; and the Scorpius Dance Theatre's production of A Vampire's Tale on Halloween itself. In addition, the following awards will be presented at the festival:

Amphibious 3D bills itself as "The First Dutch 3D Horror Movie" and Michael Pare (Kinky Killers), Jana Fassaert (Couples Retreat), and Monica Sayangbati are set to star in this Indonesian shot creature feature. The film was photographed in stereoscopic 3D and the film's story involves a biologist on the hunt for prehistoric life form samples (Uhm). Be careful what you wish for. As part of a senior management reorganization at Starz, Chris Albrecht has brought two of his former Img and HBO executives aboard, while Bill Hamm is stepping down as executive vp production and development.

Carmi  Zlotnik has been named to the new position of Starz Media managing director, while John Penney has been given the new title of executive vp strategy and business development at Starz Llc.

Both will be based in Beverly Hills, reporting to Starz president/CEO Albrecht, who previously was head of Img Global Media and chairman/CEO of HBO.

Zlotnik will manage production of the company's original series, including "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," which will begin shooting its second season later this year, and new drama "Camelot."

He was most recently head of global operations at Img and before that spent 20 years at HBO in various capacities, including positions in original programming production, business development, new media and animation.

Shadows has finished production and a synopsis is available from the film. Starring William Hurt (Mr Brooks), Cary Elwes (The Alphabet Killer), and Paula Taylor. A year ago, Brian Yuzna ( Bride of Re-Animator ) announced he was producing a trio of flicks on the cheap and in Indonesia under his Komodo Film banner. Oh, and let's not forget they'd be in 3-D. John Penney, of Zyzzyx Rd. , is in post-production on Shadows , Darclight Films' latest supernatural thriller, and in anticipation of the American Film Market next week, a few photos have squeaked onto the web (see left and below). Bloody Disgusting learned that Return of the Living Dead III producer and Zyzzyx Rd director John Penney will be getting behind the camera from his own screenplay for Shadows, the latest Arclight production. William Hurt (The Incredible Hulk, The Countess), Cary Elwes (Saw), Ploy Jindachot and Paula Taylor are all set to star. Brian Yuzna (Re-Animator, Dagon) will produce a trio of 3-D horror movies to be made in Indonesia. The slate is the one of the first initiatives from Komodo Film, a new Jakarta-based production shingle owned by Yuzna, former A Film topper San Fu Maltha ("Black Book") and Indonesian distributor Queen Imperial Films. New company is partnered with the Media Development Authority of Singapore. First up on the 3-D roster is "Amphibious," a thriller about a giant sea scorpion that Yuzna will direct from a script he penned with John Penney. Pic will be co-produced by Infinite Frameworks of Singapore. Shooting is slated to begin in March on Batam Island.

Of all the strange things Brian Yuzna’s name has been attached to over the years, an Indonesian trio of 3D films is probably the strangest yet. Yet, Variety is reporting that the Re-Animator producer is working through Komodo Film, another foreign company Yuzna owns, to develop all three.

First up is Amphibious, about a giant sea scorpion, which Yuzna will direct from a script he wrote with John Penney. Shooting on that begins in March, so I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about it soon.

Next will be Necronauts, which Yuzna will only serve production duties on, handing the directorial reigns over to Brett Leonard. That one is about a “journey into the realm of death” that was penned by novelist Terry Bisson.

But here’s where it gets really cool; Richard Stanley (Dust Devil, Hardware) will direct the third film, Cold Blooded, about a vacationing man...
