South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut was a solid hit when it came out back in the summer of 1999, raking in more than $83 million at the global box office. Pretty good for an R-rated cartoon, but not quite as good as movies like You’ve Got Mail and Stepmom.

But just think of how much money it would have made had everyone that saw the South Park movie in theaters actually bought a ticket for it.

When Bigger, Longer & Uncut was released, a lot of South Park fans under the age of 17 wanted to see the movie, but had trouble buying tickets due to the R rating, which probably wasn’t a shock to creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, considering that the inciting incident of the film’s story involves the kids sneaking into Terrance and Phillip’s R-rated Asses of Fire.

Get ready, because the Dark Knight's greatest adventures are about to take on a new life in the brand-new podcast, DC High Volume: Batman. DC's biggest icon is no stranger to audio dramas, but now many of his most famous stories are about to be adapted into an ambitious, weekly podcast.

DC Comics is teaming up with Realm to create DC High Volume: Batman, an always-on weekly podcast that will directly adapt some of Batman's most famous stories into serialized audio dramas. This new podcast goes back to where it all began and adapting Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's infamous Batman: Year One story.

The podcast will feature a number of amazing vocal talents, including Jason Spisak as the Dark Knight, Jay Paulson as Lt. James Gordon, and Michelle Lukes as Poison Ivy. Even Batman: Cacophony writer and comic superfan Kevin Smith joins in on the fun as the Penguin.

Kevin Smith made a huge splash in comics when he rebooted Daredevil in the late 90’s, and now the filmmaker is returning to Marvel with an all-new Spider-Man story. Smith is just one name in an all-star creative line-up which will be gathered together in one oversized special set to be released in June.

Announced via Marvel.com, Giant-Size Spider-Man #1 will feature three stories from the creative teams of Kevin Smith & Giuseppe Camuncoli, Al Ewing & Mark Buckingham and Chip Zdarsky & Cafu.

Paying homage to the “Giant-Size” issues released by Marvel in the seventies, the new special will also contain the first appearance of an all-new character, one that Marvel promises will “play a big role in the near future.”

There have been rumblings of a remake of the classic Stephen King adaptation Cujo for a long time – in fact, one was officially announced way back in 2013. In 2015, we heard that the remake had taken an unexpected turn, reimagining the name Cujo as an acronym that stood for Canine Unit Joint Operations. Deadline reports that Netflix has secured a deal to make a new feature film based on King’s 1981 novel Cujo. Roy Lee, who has previously produced the King adaptations Salem’s Lot (2024), The Stand (2020 – 2021), Doctor Sleep (2019), It (2017), and It Chapter Two (2019), will be producing the film. Now, the search is on for a writer.

Cujo is the story of a large, playful St. Bernard dog that is transformed into a hideous killing machine after being infected by rabies.

Filmmaker Kevin Smith is writing a double-sized crossover comic in which the wholesome Archie Comics characters meet the edgy protagonists of his film oeuvre. This mature title takes place in the continuity of Smith’s filmography, with the book set after the events of 2022’s Clerks III, which (spoiler alert), included the death of Dante (Brian O’Halloran).

“Archie plays a role in the healing,” Smith tells The Hollywood Reporter of the story, which features Archie landing a summer job at the Clerks Quick Shop and striking up a friendship with co-worker Randal Graves.

Actress Shannen Doherty, who appeared in numerous films and TV shows like Heathers, Mallrats, Beverly Hills 90201 and Charmed, was notably absent from the Academy Awards’ In Memoriam tribute at the March 2 ceremony. Doherty died in July 2024 at the age of 53. She had been living with breast cancer since 2015.

Per TMZ, Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on the teen drama 90210 from 1990 to 2000, voiced her opinion on the Oscars’ omission of Doherty from the In Memoriam segment. When asked about Doherty being missing from the tribute, Garth said, “Yeah, that’s messed up.”

When Garth was asked whether the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences should issue an apology for excluding Doherty, who played Brenda Walsh on 90210 from 1990 to 1994, she said “Maybe.”

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for an epic showdown as the Russo Brothers are busy prepping up for Avengers 5 and 6. Producers Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey are building a cinematic universe out of horror movies based on public domain family friendly stories – including Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, that film’s sequels, Pinocchio Unstrung, and Bambi: The Reckoning, which is inspired by Felix Salten’s 1923 novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods. The Bambi horror movie will be released by ITN Studio and Premiere Entertainment sometime this summer, and today a full trailer has dropped online. You can check it out in the embed above.

M. Night Shyamalan's "Unbreakable" introduced a useful nomenclature for comic book super-villains: the mastermind and the soldier (the physical equal and opposite for the hero). Daredevil has two great nemeses that both hit one category each: Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin, and Bullseye. "The man who never misses," Bullseye is a ruthless assassin with impossibly good aim and not a shred of conscience.

The Netflix "Daredevil" series from several ago put Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Fisk's (Vincent D'Onofrio) rivalry front and center, but it held off on Bullseye. He finally came in the series' third and final season, reimagined as an FBI agent named Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter (Wilson Bethel). Far from the campy baddie played by Colin Farrell in the 2003 "Daredevil" film, this Bullseye was truly disturbed and only grew worse under Fisk's tutelage.

The big winner of this year’s Super Bowl, once again, was gratuitous pop-culture nostalgia. In addition to a Muppets-themed travel ad, and Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan’s horny condiment commercial, ‘90s stoners Jay and Silent Bob popped up in a Ben Affleck-centric spot for Dunkin’.

Affleck once again donned an orange tracksuit to perform with the “DunKings,” his Dunkin’-branded boy band (although the word “boy” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there). The DunKings now also include Ben’s brother Casey, Bill Belichick, and Jeremy Strong, who we briefly see emerging from a vat of coffee grounds like a more svelte Baron Harkonnen.

They’ve been teasing the commercial all week, and it turns out that the sixty-second spot airing during the Super Bowl is actually only a trailer for a seven-minute long short film featuring both Ben and Casey Affleck (no Matt Damon though), Jeremy Strong, Jay & Silent Bob, Bill Belichick, and many more. According to Deadline, Casey Affleck is also set to go on a manhunt in a new thriller that will co-star Miles Teller titled Wild Game.

The CW's The Flash Star John Wesley Shipp has talked about the immediate connection he had with his co-star and fellow Barry Allen actor Grant Gustin. Shipp starred as the titular DC character in 1990's The Flash CBS series before returning to play Gustin's father, Henry Allen, in the Arrowverse.

Gustin told Cbr at Megacon that the show retained its freshness because he took the responsibility of playing the Flash seriously. "It was never an intentional thought about how to keep it fresh," he began. "I'm a very scene-by-scene actor. I wanted to keep it realistic.
