The beloved annual NewFest “Queering the Canon” series is back — and this time, it’s all about all-consuming romance. IndieWire can exclusively announce the 2025 lineup for “Queering the Canon: So Obsessed,” presented by NewFest and Bam (Brooklyn Academy of Music).

Fans have been waiting 14 years for director Michael Dougherty to get around to making a sequel to his Halloween-themed horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat, but Dougherty has stayed busy as the years have gone by, making the Christmas-themed horror film Krampus, directing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and contributing to the scripts for X-Men: Apocalypse, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Recently, there have been indications that a Trick ‘r Treat 2 might finally be moving forward. Dougherty has even said the screenplay has been written. But while he pushes that sequel toward production, he has revealed to Collider that he has an idea for Krampus 2 as well.

Dougherty told them, “We have an idea for a sequel on that one, too. It doesn’t necessarily center around a family as much as it might be about a group of strangers who are trapped somewhere.

Director Michael Dougherty and co-writers Zach Shields and Todd Casey have come up with an idea for a potential sequel to the 2015 film Krampus, which would focus on a group of strangers trapped somewhere instead of a family. Krampus featured a talented cast and was a success at the global box office, grossing $61.5 million against its $15 million budget, solidifying its place in the Christmas-themed horror subgenre. Dougherty also provided an update on the anticipated Trick 'r Treat sequel, stating that there are several drafts of a script and promising progress in its development, though budget and scheduling considerations still need to be addressed.

While a Krampus sequel is not officially in the works, that hasn't stopped director and co-writer Michael Dougherty from constructing a plot for a follow-up film. In conversation with Collider, Dougherty revealed that he and Krampus co-writers Zach Shields and Todd Casey have devised an idea for a second Krampus movie.

All 172 episodes of the classic ’80s legal drama L.A. Law, created by Steven Bochco and Terry Louise Fisher, will be available to stream on Hulu on November 3.

Classic ’80s legal drama “L.A. Law” is coming to Hulu — with an upgrade.

All eight seasons of the show, comprising 172 episodes total, have been newly remastered by Disney in HD with 16:9 aspect ratio from the original film source for streaming on Hulu. “L.A. Law” will be available on Hulu starting Nov. 3. According to Hulu, all original commercial licensed music was kept intact and also upgraded.

Hulu, which is majority owned by Disney, does not have exclusive streaming rights to “L.A. Law”; the eight seasons of the show also are currently available on Amazon’s Prime Video.

Since its release, "Krampus" has become a Christmas favorite of mine. "Rare Exports" and "A Christmas Horror Story" are often listed among the best adaptations of the Germanic legend, but I believe director Michael Doughtery's 2015 holiday horror flick has done the best job at bringing the titular mischief-maker to the screen. The story about a household being overtaken by Krampus and his adorable holiday minions introduces the centuries-old legend in a concise, hilarious, and thrilling way that only the filmmaker behind the influential "Trick 'r Treat" could have pulled off.

"Krampus" features a pretty spectacular ensemble with Emjay Anthony, Toni Collette, Conchata Ferrell, David Koechner, Adam Scott, Krista Stadler, and Alison Tolman. Even though Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be shortened to just one pre-taped hour on TNT and TBS, the special In Memoriam segment will still be a highlight. Since the 2020 event aired on January 19, it will be over 14 months until the one on April 4. That means even more actors, actresses and members of SAG/AFTRA will hopefully be honored than the 40 people in the tribute last year.

The two individual nominations are for his leading role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and his supporting performance in “Da 5 Bloods.” Those two films also are nominated for the top ensemble category.

Looking back over the beloved stars we lost in the past year is always emotional, and this year has been especially devastating, given how many members of the entertainment community died due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic hit the music community especially hard, but television and film performers, as well as stage actors and below-the-line workers were also affected. Singer-songwriter John Prine, record producer Hal Willner and “Nashville” actor Allen Garfield all died of coronavirus on April 7. Broadway actor Nick Cordero died on July 5 after a four-month battle with the disease.

Adam Schlesinger, a composer and co-founder of Fountains of Wayne, died on April 1 at 52. Charley Pride, remembered as country music’s first Black superstar, died on Dec. 12 of coronavirus complications.

Ferrell starred as Berta the housekeeper on the popular sitcom which ran for 12 seasons on CBS. She was surrounded by her family in Sherman Oaks, California when she died of complications resulting from a cardiac arrest on Oct. 12, according to Deadline.

Per Deadline, the actress passed away on Monday at California's Sherman Oaks Hospital.

Ferrell was hospitalized earlier this year, spending a month in intensive care.

She suffered a heart attack while in the hospital and was left unable to speak or communicate.

The hospitalization in May was in relation to a kidney infection she suffered last December.

Conchata is best known for her role as Berta on Two and a Half Men as housekeeper Berta.

The role was recurring at first, but she was promoted to series regular for Season 2 and remained with the series in a regular role until its conclusion.

Ferrell scored two nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the CBS series.

She also appeared on TV shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friends, Who's the Boss, and Night Court.
