Not Big Bang Theory or Young Sheldon, 7 TV Shows You Probably Didn’t Know Are Written by Chuck Lorre
Chuck Lorre’s name is literally synonymous with TV comedy gold, take it from the massive success of The Big Bang Theory and its prequel, Young Sheldon. But when it comes to Lorre, there’s so much more to his creative mind than just geek culture and a pint-sized Sheldon Cooper. Over the years, Lorre has quietly shaped some of the most iconic television shows, often blending his usual humor theme with relatable, heartfelt storytelling. Not to mention his ability to create characters that feel so like family, paired with his knack for delivering laugh-out-loud moments.
Chuck Lorre
Beyond some obvious titles, Lorre’s fingerprints are all over a handful of TV gems that sadly didn’t get the spotlight. These shows span genres, themes, and eras, showcasing his versatility as a producer and writer. From biting satire to unconventional family dynamics like Mom, Lorre’s creations go way beyond...

Christmas horror has become a subgenre unto itself, a refuge for those who love to inject a little Halloween revelry into their holiday festivities. It's home to one of the earliest slasher movies, iconic creature features like Gremlins, and just recently added the gorefest Terrifier 3 to its ranks. But one of the best, and least talked about, examples has to be 2015's Krampus, a film that strikes an ideal balance between its horror and Christmas movie elements.
Directed by Trick r' Treat's Michael Dougherty, the film was a modest financial success, earned decent reviews upon its release, and has developed a small cult following in the nine years since. But for those who've never seen it or haven't in a while, its critiques of rampant consumerism and ideological divides have only become more relevant in the almost-decade since its premiere. Under normal circumstances, the main characters of TV shows remain relevantly consistent, although there are some series that have consistently shaken things up. From behind-the-scenes controversies to character arcs simply running their course, new characters and recastings are sometimes inevitable, but they can be difficult for viewers who have grown attached to their favorite cast members to get used to. While sometimes the introduction of new main characters feels fresh and exciting, other times it signals the beginning of the end as a series kisses goodbye to its glory days.
Character changes occur in everything from beloved sitcoms to prestige dramas, and many of the best shows of all time have switched out main characters for new cast members. In some instances, even the protagonists of TV series have exited and were quickly replaced by somebody new. Several long-running series even had main character changes built into their very nature as Doctors regenerate,...

Despite its popularity in the 2000s, Charlie Sheen’s Two and a Half Men has often garnered heavy scrutiny following its handling of certain subject matters, which hasn’t aged well with time. Even though the show is very much a product of its time, this doesn’t make it immune to criticism, especially the discourse surrounding the sitcom’s problematic undertones.

While most fans agree that the sitcom’s quality depleted in the latter seasons following its overwhelming reliance on juvenile and crude humor, the first season had its fair share of problems, including Megan Fox’s Prudence.

Chuck Lorre, with his remarkable contribution to the comedy sitcom genre, can easily be called the King of Sitcoms. The producer has brought forth several highly acclaimed shows, such as The Big Bang Theory, Cybill, Mom, and Young Sheldon. But in this list, Two and a Half Men gained him huge acclaim. But also brought in a slew of controversies, all thanks to Charlie Sheen.

The actor was going through some addiction issues during the sitcom’s eighth season. During the same time, he entered rehab, and also started a major Anti-Chuck Lorre rant, bashing the showrunner at every chance he got.
It was this very public fallout with Sheen that made it almost impossible for him to watch the show again.

Recasting can breathe new life into a series or alienate fans, leading to viewer drops & backlash. Scheduling conflicts & personal issues can force recast decisions in TV shows, affecting audience reception. Some shows successfully replace major characters, while others struggle to maintain viewer support.
Recasting major characters in TV shows can be a risky move. It can either breathe new life into a series or alienate fans who are attached to the original portrayal. While some shows manage to pull off recasting successfully, others face significant backlash, leading to a drop in viewership and fan support. Either way, the show must go on. Understanding the reasons behind these recastings and the audience's reactions can offer valuable insight into the delicate art of maintaining continuity in a long-running series.
From beloved sitcoms to intense dramas, no show is safe from a potential recast. Some managed to integrate new actors seamlessly, while others faced criticism and controversy.

Can we ever forget the quick-witted queen of quips, Berta, whose sarcastic salvos became the spice of the beach house in Chuck Lorre & Lee Aronsohn’s Two and a Half Men? From her rib-tickling jabs at Alan Harper’s freeloading ways to the unexpected warmth, she infused into her bonds with Charlie and Walden, Conchata Ferrell’s portrayal of Berta was nothing short of a comedic symphony.

Buckle up, sitcom fans! The American sitcom series Two and a Half Men almost featured a totally different story. Forget the smooth-talker Charlie Sheen for now; we’re talking about another iconic character who was supposed to be Eastern European. This could’ve completely reshaped the entire series.

Times have changed. While there are TV shows that were considered totally acceptable, or at least tolerable, decades ago, some of them would never fly today. In a few cases, the series are still available to watch via reruns in syndication, and they remain beloved by fans. But if the concept behind them was pitched today, especially for a network, they likely would not be made with all the same storylines, dialogue, and/or questionable moments or character traits.
Not surprisingly, many of the shows from the early 2000s that fall into this categorization are within the reality TV show genre, and its questionable how they were made even back then. But some others are sitcoms that are by and large fantastic, but that have elements that might be frowned upon today.

No sibling duos in sitcoms can compare to the very realistic, based-on-sarcasm-and-threats pair that is Charlie and Alan Harper in Two and a Half Men. Created by Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn, the 12-season series focuses on the crazy shenanigans two adult brothers often find themselves in. Charlie Sheen played Charlie Harper, a snarky jingle writer who is afraid of commitment but somehow found it in his heart to welcome his younger brother Alan (Jon Cryer) and his 10-year-old nephew Jake (Angus T. Jones) into his bachelor pad in Malibu.
Charlie and Alan rarely see eye to eye on issues, as Alan is pretty much the complete opposite of his brother, but in the end, they do what they can to help each other. During the eighth season, a very public feud happened between Sheen and Lorre, resulting in Sheen's character getting killed off and replaced by Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher). Of course,...

Jon Cryer wishes Charlie Sheen well, but has reservations about working with him again, indicating a potential roadblock for a Two and a Half Men revival. Sheen and Chuck Lorre have reconciled, which Cryer finds lovely since Lorre thought they were friends and was hurt by their falling out. Charlie Sheen's past behavior, including blowing up his high-paying role, makes Cryer hesitant about getting into business with him for an extended period of time.
While Jon Cryer has nothing but well wishes for his Two and a Half Men co-star Charlie Sheen, he would hesitate to get back in "business with him." Of course, this quashes hopes for a Two and a Half Men revival series. Talks of reuniting the CBS sitcom's original cast have picked up after Sheen and Chuck Lorre (the show's co-creator) made up following a very public falling out.

Charlie Sheen acknowledges his mistakes and regrets his erratic behavior, which got him fired from Two and a Half Men. Sheen reflects on the success of the show and the efforts put in by the entire cast and crew. Sheen admits that he violated the rules and acknowledges that it was unfair.
Charlie Sheen knows he screwed up a good thing. Sheen starred in CBS’ immensely popular sitcom Two and a Half Men for eight seasons before the actor’s erratic behavior got him fired. One of the factors that led to Sheen's dismissal was when he publicly degraded the series’ co-creator, Chuck Lorre, while doing a radio interview on The Alex Jones Show back in 2011. And today, Sheen realizes what a monumental mistake he made. Sheen said in an exclusive interview with Deadline:
Yeah, if I hadn’t f—ed everything up, we could have done it as long as we wanted to.

Exclusive: I sit down for breakfast with Charlie Sheen not exactly knowing what to expect. His bookend episodes of Bookie that reunited him with Two And a Half Men‘s Chuck Lorre remind of what was lost after the actor’s inexplicable, substance-fueled “Tiger Blood” meltdown led to an abrupt parting of the ways and separating him from one of sitcom TV’s highest-ever salaries at a reported $1.8 million an episode. It has been a dozen years since then, and I come in harboring my own feelings. Basically, Two And a Half Men (the Charlie Harper Years) have been my reliable go-to at the end of most long days in the trenches. I can practically recite the dialogue along with Sheen, Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, as well as Holland Taylor (their mom), Melanie Lynskey (Charlie’s stalker), Marin Hinkle (Alan Harper’s ex), and the late Conchata Ferrell, who played the housekeeper Berta.

Fans have been waiting 14 years for director Michael Dougherty to get around to making a sequel to his Halloween-themed horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat, but Dougherty has stayed busy as the years have gone by, making the Christmas-themed horror film Krampus, directing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and contributing to the scripts for X-Men: Apocalypse, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Recently, there have been indications that a Trick ‘r Treat 2 might finally be moving forward. Dougherty has even said the screenplay has been written. But while he pushes that sequel toward production, he has revealed to Collider that he has an idea for Krampus 2 as well.
Dougherty told them, “We have an idea for a sequel on that one, too. It doesn’t necessarily center around a family as much as it might be about a group of strangers who are trapped somewhere.

Director Michael Dougherty and co-writers Zach Shields and Todd Casey have come up with an idea for a potential sequel to the 2015 film Krampus, which would focus on a group of strangers trapped somewhere instead of a family. Krampus featured a talented cast and was a success at the global box office, grossing $61.5 million against its $15 million budget, solidifying its place in the Christmas-themed horror subgenre. Dougherty also provided an update on the anticipated Trick 'r Treat sequel, stating that there are several drafts of a script and promising progress in its development, though budget and scheduling considerations still need to be addressed.
While a Krampus sequel is not officially in the works, that hasn't stopped director and co-writer Michael Dougherty from constructing a plot for a follow-up film. In conversation with Collider, Dougherty revealed that he and Krampus co-writers Zach Shields and Todd Casey have devised an idea for a second Krampus movie.

After running for 12 seasons, Two and a Half Men the actors' rapidly increasing pay per episode was well-documented, and the Two and a Half Men salaries are unbelievable. CBS' Two and a Half Men has been over for the better part of a decade, but that doesn't mean it still isn't one of the most highly-rated and beloved sitcoms out there. From cringy family dynamics to hilarious relationships and mistakes, this show is bursting with a memorable cast. This cast has become totally iconic for their work on the show, and, of course, they made a great living doing it.

From Will & Grace to Modern Family, television has come a long way in its progressive depiction of LGBTQ people and same-sex relationships. But before any of those shows, Norman Lear, best known for the creation of The Jeffersons and America's favorite bigot Archie Bunker on All in the Family, was the first to break new ground with the subject in 1975. According to ABC News, Lear's short-lived ABC sitcom, Hot l Baltimore (no "e" in "Hotel") was the birthplace of the first gay couple to ever be portrayed on American network television.
Seeing how Lear's other series famously tackled hot-button topics like racism, abortion and alcoholism, it's no surprise that one of his many series was one of the first to place a gay couple onto America's TV screens. It may be a far cry from the way most gay couples are portrayed in today's television, but thanks to Hot l Baltimore,...

Since its release, "Krampus" has become a Christmas favorite of mine. "Rare Exports" and "A Christmas Horror Story" are often listed among the best adaptations of the Germanic legend, but I believe director Michael Doughtery's 2015 holiday horror flick has done the best job at bringing the titular mischief-maker to the screen. The story about a household being overtaken by Krampus and his adorable holiday minions introduces the centuries-old legend in a concise, hilarious, and thrilling way that only the filmmaker behind the influential "Trick 'r Treat" could have pulled off.
"Krampus" features a pretty spectacular ensemble with Emjay Anthony, Toni Collette, Conchata Ferrell, David Koechner, Adam Scott, Krista Stadler, and Alison Tolman. On top of all of that, the film nestles in quite nicely alongside "Gremlins" as a wonderful piece of holiday gateway horror. That's pretty much what the legend is, anyways.

“Ted Lasso’s” Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple could join an elite club if they both manage to repeat getting nominated for Best Comedy Supporting Actress this year. The Apple TV Plus featured players would become the 13th duo to score multiple Emmy nominations in that category at the same time. Waddingham, the category’s reigning Emmy champ, plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, while Temple, who earned a bid last year, takes on the role of marketing manager Keeley Jones.

The edgy screenplay for this flashy, rough-edged ‘lovers, drugs & guns’ saga served to jump-start Quentin Tarantino’s movie career; he’s identified it as his most autobiographical work. Tony Scott slicked up the visuals and ironed out the nonlinear narrative but it’s still a Qt epic through and through. And that cast of suspects is phenomenal: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Christopher Walken, Bronson Pinchot, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Rapaport, Saul Rubinek, Conchata Ferrell & James Gandolfini.

Producers of the 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony honored almost all of the expected people who died this past year. Who was not featured during the emotional In Memoriam segment Sunday night on CBS? Prominent performers and character actors such as Frank Bonner, Sean Connery, Michael Constantine, Abby Dalton, James Hampton, Bruce Kirby, Norman Lloyd, Helen Reddy and Jane Withers were not part of the 49 people included.
While over 100 celebrated television people died since last year’s event in mid-September of 2020, the segment generally only makes room for less than 50. Among those featured Sunday night: TV Academy Hall of Fame members actor Ed Asner, production designer Roy Christopher, actress Cloris Leachman, writer/producer William Link and actress Cicely Tyson. Current nominee Michael K. Williams (“Lovecraft Country”) and “Saturday Night Live” veteran Norm Macdonald sadly passed away this month as well.

Even though Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be shortened to just one pre-taped hour on TNT and TBS, the special In Memoriam segment will still be a highlight. That means even more actors, actresses and members of SAG/AFTRA will hopefully be honored than the 40 people in the tribute last year.

Looking back over the beloved stars we lost in the past year is always emotional, and this year has been especially devastating, given how many members of the entertainment community died due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The pandemic hit the music community especially hard, but television and film performers, as well as stage actors and below-the-line workers were also affected. Singer-songwriter John Prine, record producer Hal Willner and “Nashville” actor Allen Garfield all died of coronavirus on April 7. Broadway actor Nick Cordero died on July 5 after a four-month battle with the disease.
Adam Schlesinger, a composer and co-founder of Fountains of Wayne, died on April 1 at 52. Charley Pride, remembered as country music’s first Black superstar, died on Dec. 12 of coronavirus complications.
