Dexter fans have a lot to look forward to this year, as not only is Dexter: Origins in the midst of its run on Showtime with Paramount+, but Dexter: Resurrection will also premiere in June. To top it all off, the sequel series has just landed one of the biggest names ever to appear in the Dexter universe: Uma Thurman.
Per Deadline, Thurman has signed on to appear as a series regular in Dexter: Resurrection, joining the returning Michael C. Hall as the titular serial killer, David Zayas as Angel Batista, James Remar as Harry Morgan, and Jack Alcott as Dexter's son, Harrison. Thurman is undoubtedly a global superstar, and certainly brings a lot of star power to the series. Michael C. Hall is returning as Dexter Morgan once again in the upcoming sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. Several other franchise stars will appear in the series, but Julia Stiles isn't counting on getting the call to return as Lumen.
In the fifth season of the original Dexter, Stiles played Lumen Pierce, a survivor of a serial killer murdered by Dexter. She becomes an ally to Dexter, convincing him to help her exact revenge against a group of men who'd sexually assaulted her. Though she served as a love interest for Dexter, Lumen wound up leaving at the end of the season, no longer feeling the need to kill after all of her own abusers were dead. She hasn't been seen in the franchise since, and Stiles doesn't expect that to change with Dexter: Resurrection.

Dexter: Original Sin may have been on a break this past weekend, but that doesn't mean the world of our favorite vigilante serial killer stops spinning. With just four more episodes to go in the prequel series, original star Michael C. Hall has shared the news that he's back on set to film Dexter: Resurrection, which is the next installment in the ongoing saga of the man once known as the Bay Harbor Butcher.
Hall took to social media on Friday to share the good news (seen below), posting a video of himself through the official Dexter account on X to mark the first day of filming on Resurrection, which is expected to premiere later this year. Hall began playing the role of Dexter Morgan in 2006 when the hit Showtime series made its debut, and returned to the franchise again in 2021 when Dexter: New Blood revived the character after an eight-year absence.

Big casting news has been revealed for the upcoming series Dexter: Resurrection. The new show serves as a follow-up to the previous Dexter sequel series, Dexter: New Blood.
Deadline reports that Dexter: Resurrection will bring back original Dexter stars David Zayas (Oz) and James Remar (Oppenheimer) with the two reprising their respective roles as Detective Angel Batissta and Harry Morgan. Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird) will also return as Harrison Morgan, the son of Dexter Morgan introduced in New Blood. All three of these returning stars will be featured as series regulars. Of course, they'll be joined by a returning Michael C. Hall as Dexter himself.

Christian Slater has been playing the role of Harry Morgan, the father of Patrick Gibson's Dexter Morgan, in the hit prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. Meanwhile, the original actors to play the actors are going to share the screen once again in the separate sequel series that's now in the works.
Last year, it was announced that Michael C. Hall would return as the older Dexter in Dexter: Resurrection, a new sequel series set after the events of Dexter: New Blood. Not much else has been revealed about Resurrection ever since, and no other casting news has been officially announced. However, per Dexter Daily, actor James Remar divulged that he'll be reprising his role as the older Harry Morgan in Resurrection.

Dexter had the potential to be an all-time great but fumbled in its latter half, which never should have been made in the first place. Dexter stars Michael C. Hall as the titular protagonist who, across eight seasons and 96 episodes, doubles as a forensic specialist and blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department and a methodical vigilante serial killer. Dexter breaks the convention of traditional serial killers because he is guided by a strict rulebook that prevents him from killing innocent people — most of the time – based on his adoptive father Harry Morgan's code.
Based on the character created by author Jeff Lindsay, Showtime's Dexter follows Miami Metro Police Department's most skilled blood spatter analyst, Dexter Morgan, as he attempts to satisfy his Dark Passenger's need to kill by hunting down criminals who have escaped justice.

True crime fans, the results are in. Criminology expert David Wilson, one of the most important authorities in the field of serial killers and criminal profiling, is perhaps one of the few people with enough arguments to evaluate serial killer depictions in movies and TV shows. Wilson is the author of academic works like Serial Killers and the Phenomenon of Serial Murder: A Student Textbook and Images of Incarceration: Representations of Prison in Film and Television Drama.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Wilson analyzes iconic scenes and characters from the underworld of serial killer movies and TV shows. He mentions which ones he loves, what are some of his favorites, and especially, he talks about how the media has provided false insight for dramatic purposes. The Hollywoodization of serial killers is a thing, and this is evident even in the most important films of the genre. He evaluated the...

At one point, Showtime's crime thriller Dexter was one of the best shows on TV. Like many shows that followed The Sopranos, Dexter focuses on a badguy that you can't help but root for. Dexter (played famously by Michael C. Hall) is a blood spatter analysis expert for the Miami Metro Police Department, who moonlights as a serial killer in a secret double life. But here's the catch: Dexter only kills murderers who escape the justice system, making him a twisted sort of vigilante.
The first four seasons of Dexter were praised by both critics and audiences alike, ranking as some of the best seasons on television. Season 5 through season 8 saw a gradual decline in quality, all the way up to the show's original and disappointing series finale. The villains became less interesting, and weak storylines and character arcs were introduced.

Fans of the Showtime series Dexter were delighted when the development of a prequel series was announced, along with news that its coming by the end of 2024. Following the early life of a younger Dexter Morgan, played by Patrick Gibson, it seems unlikely that Michael C. Hall, who plays the character in the original series, could appear in the show.
Then again, he will star in another spin-off called Dexter: Resurrection, as announced at San Diego ComicCon, despite presumably being killed in the continuation miniseries Dexter: New Blood. So, anything can happen. Thus, fans are curious to know if Hall will have any involvement in Dexter: Original Sin. The good news is that yes, he will indeed be part of the show in a very fitting way.

The Dexter universe continues to grow. Fresh off the heels of a sequel series, the hit Showtime series is gearing up for a prequel, titled Dexter: Original Sin, that will explore the early days of the titular character's life. As the name suggests, it dives into the start of the character's urge to kill, and it takes place 15 years before the events of the original series. Original Sin will detail how Harry, Dexter's dad, helped him adapt his code of only killing people who deserve it. It will also include new original characters, with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Patrick Dempsey both playing big roles in Original Sin as revealed in newly-released images.
Dexter will no longer be played by Michael C. Hall, something to be expected considering it's a prequel set more than a decade in the past, but he is still narrating it. Stepping into the future serial killer's...

An inordinate number of amazing female TV characters were mistreated either by the narrative or the audience and didn't get the legacy they deserved. Several TV characters who completely divided their audience fall into this category, being women who tell empowering or nuanced stories but were received poorly because of double standards or one bad storyline. Audiences tend to be less accepting of flawed female characters, who are often expected to be better, while a male counterpart gets to be the anti-hero.
Female characters are also the victims of "fridging" more often than male characters; this trope refers to when a character is killed off solely to further another character's storyline, with little attention paid to the tragedy of their death. Some of these fictional women are among the best TV characters of all time who inspired or prompted discussion in a spectacular manner. Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as Dexter in upcoming spin-offs, providing inner monologue narration and starring in Dexter: Resurrection. Questions arise about how Dexter will return since the finale of Dexter: New Blood seemingly showed his death. Fans speculate Dexter's possible return involving a medical condition, supernatural elements, or deception, leading to intriguing theories.
San Diego Comic-Con (Sdcc) was a treasure trove of information for Dexter fans who have been excited about the upcoming prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. The panel surprised fans with the news that Michael C. But that wasnt it: he will also reprise the role for another spin-off series.

Dexter star Michael C. The announcement happened during the Dexter panel at San Diego Comic-Con, with Hall himself making an appearance and said he could not wait to watch The Oa star Patrick Gibson play a younger version of the vigilante serial killer.
Its pretty heady. Im having flashbacks of the first time I came to Comic-Con. We were in this hall. That was 75 years ago? Its amazing to still be alive. I cannot wait to watch this show. To a certain degree, I have a sense of what is coming. Ive spent so much time with this character and to go back to have those sort of imaginative blanks filled in this technicolor show Its amazing.

First announced in 2023, Dexter: Original Sin has been making a lot of waves lately as news of a prequel series to the original Showtime hit has been met with a mixed bag of responses thus far. Set 10 years prior to the events in Dexter, which began in 2006, the series stars Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter Morgan, the avenging serial killer made famous by Michael C. Hall.
Thanks to Variety, we now have our first look at Gibson as the young killer in an image which takes us back to the original series showing one of Dexters victims wrapped in plastic, with a young Morgan dressed to the nines in his famous rubber apron and gloves, poised for the kill.
In addition to Gibson, Showtime at Paramount+ has also revealed our first look at some of Dexter: Original Sins other cast members, which include Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Dexters adoptive father,...

Quick Links What Really Inspired Dexter? Theories About Real-Life Inspirations Dexter Is a Unique And Fictional Character
Die-hard fans of the Showtime series Dexter think they know everything there is to know about the crime drama. Most know, for example, that the main character Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) and others, along with the over-arching story and most of the first season (as well as bits from others) were adapted from the series of novels by Jeff Lindsay, starting with Darkly Dreaming Dexter. Some have theorized that Lindsay was inspired by a real-life serial killer in creating Dexter.
Is this true? While vigilante serial killers have arguably existed for centuries, some believe Lindsay based the character on one, two, or even a few serial killers who share dark similarities with Dexter. But the author has never indicated that his novels were inspired by any of these individuals. The initial inspiration,...

Dexter is a forensic technician who secretly kills murderers to enforce his adoptive father's code of ethics. The Ice Truck Killer, Dexter's biological brother, challenges his need to kill and forces him to confront his past. In the end, Dexter chooses to protect his family and kills Brian, revealing the consequences of his dark passenger.
Ever since debuting on Showtime in October 2006 (and lasting seven more years), Dexter has gripped audiences when it comes to the story revolving around Michael Halls titular character. To all of those around him, Dexter Morgan is a seemingly inconspicuous individual who just enjoys being a forensic technician for the Miami Metro Police Department albeit a little too much. But under the guise of a crime scene surveyor whose specialty lies in blood splatter, the main character of this award-winning crime show is actually a serial killer who ends the lives of murderers who somehow escaped the justice system.

Dexter's second season explores his relationship with Lila, a recovering drug addict who forms an unexpected kinship with him. Lila's dark side leads to dangerous consequences for Dexter and those around him, culminating in a fiery finale. Lila serves as one of Dexter's standout foes, reflecting his own struggles and pushing him closer to his darkest side.
For better or worse, Dexter is perhaps best remembered today as one of the quintessential examples of a show starting out with incredible promise before tumbling off a cliff in its final seasons. Yet in spite of a hilariously awful finale that somehow made the Game of Thrones closing chapter look like the Red Wedding episode in comparison, the first four seasons of Dexter remain rock-solid and serve as a good reminder of why many once believed it could go down as one of the all-time greats.

Dexter Morgan was a complicated character who sought justice through his Dark Passenger's desires. The disappointing final season left audiences craving a redemption arc for Dexter and Debra. A better way to handle the Dexter finale would be for Dexter to face his comeuppance and for Debra to capture him.
The jury may still be out on whether Dexter Morgan was a tragic hero. The serial killer who kills other bad guys was a huge hit for eight seasons, and audiences vacillated between seeing him as the good guy and the guy who goes just a little too far. He was constantly cleaning up his messes, dealing with other murderers, and attempting to balance a family.
However, Dexter's final season threw normally accepting audiences into an offensive swirl. Their character was done dirty, Debra was done even dirtier, and it was clear that the writers were not quite ready for...

Netflix has announced that it will add the complete series of Dexter, the acclaimed crime drama starring Michael C. Hall, to its streaming platform in the U.S. on June 19. The series, which aired for eight seasons on Showtime from 2006 to 2013, features Hall as Dexter Morgan, a forensic analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who leads a double life as a vigilante serial killer.
Dexters story revolves around his unique form of justice, taught by his adoptive father Harry played by James Remar, a police officer, who trained him to channel his homicidal urges towards eliminating societys most dangerous criminals. Dexter refers to his murderous side as his "dark passenger," and his meticulous methods ensure he remains undetected, even by his adoptive sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), a fellow detective at Miami Metro.

May of 2003 was almost bone-dry for big-screen horror until 20th Century Fox released Wrong Turn; director Rob Schmidt and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy’s collaboration arrived in theaters the weekend after Memorial Day. Later on, the fairly successful film inspired a whole franchise of follow-ups, which exceeded the original in terms of sheer gruesomeness. However, this underrated offering of backwoods horror still delivers in areas its direct descendants do not.
As a reflection of the real world, horror steadily became urbanized. The late 1990s had all but abandoned the great outdoors as a dreadful destination and backdrop, especially in the wake of Scream. No longer did characters have to leave their neighborhood in order to feel threatened. The next decade, however, saw a comeback for travel terror; vacations overseas and across borders commonly unfolded in horrific fashion, and local sojourns, like that of Wrong Turn, did not turn out any better.

The most characters survive in the 2021 reboot of Wrong Turn, where three make it to the end alive. There is at least one movie in the Wrong Turn franchise where no characters survive at all. The Wrong Turn movie with the lowest kill count was the 2003 original.
The Wrong Turn movies are known for intense, bloody violence and creative dismemberment via the franchise's cannibal killers, and — due to the very high body count — there were only a few survivors throughout the six existing movies. The original Wrong Turn was released in 2003, becoming a modest box office hit. The others were released direct to video until the franchise was rebooted with 2021's Wrong Turn going for a more grounded and serious tone.

Some TV shows never fully recover from awful storylines or character decisions. Deb falling in love with her own brother in Dexter was uncomfortable and made little sense. Troy's exit from Community damaged the show irreparably, although the decision did not come from the writers.
Some TV storylines or character decisions were so awful, that their respective shows never truly recovered from it. With each season of a show, writers tend to bring in new storylines as a refresher, allowing audiences to get to know their favorite characters all over again, with exciting new details to ponder over. "Dexter" is a show with a history almost as tumultuous as that of its titular antihero. The gory crime drama follows Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a blood spatter analyst by day and vigilante serial killer by night. Season 1 of the Showtime drama debuted in 2006 to positive reviews and reigned as the premium channel's highest-rated series for the next four years. Seasons 2 and 4 are widely regarded as the show's best, with the latter boasting a fantastic performance by John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer, one of TV's most terrifying villains. After the departure of showrunner Clyde Phillips, "Dexter" began a downward slide that ran all the way up to its disappointing series finale, frequently remembered as one of the worst of all time. Eight years after Dexter drove his boat into the eye of a hurricane, the serial killer with a heart of gold returned in "Dexter: New Blood," a...

Nick Hamm’s The Hole is a vivid example of how a lie can take on a life of its own. In this 2001 psychological-thriller, inspired by Guy Burt’s 1993 novel After the Hole, the truth is distorted as authorities try to understand the horrible events that happened inside an abandoned fallout shelter. The survivor of this senseless tragedy recounts those harrowing eighteen days, telling two disparate versions of the same ordeal. By the end, no one — even the storyteller herself — can tell the difference between fact and fiction.
The deception is immediate in The Hole. Hamm and screenwriters Ben Court and Caroline Ip quickly endear Thora Birch’s character Liz to audiences as the bruised and disheveled teenager stumbles her way back to her home away from home. At a private school called Brabourne, Liz enters the abandoned campus, calls for help on a payphone, then finally unleashes a guttural scream.

The phrase “water-cooler TV show” may have already sounded old fashioned long before workers began fleeing their offices in the early days of the pandemic, but the meaning of the term remains alive and well with countless fans discussing, debating, arguing about and bonding over their favorite shows online. Rather than gathering around the break room vending machine to chat about the previous night’s shocking twists, social media is the new meeting place where fan theories are traded back and forth. The problem is, it’s hard to go into serious detail or capture the true essence of a complex TV show in a measly 280-character tweet.
Perhaps that’s why TV podcasts have become so wildly popular over the past few years. Instead of boiling down an emotionally devastating episode of “Mare of Easttown” or a mind-bending hour of “Squid Game” in a handful of words, a well-produced...

This Dexter: New Blood review contains spoilers.
Not many shows get a second chance at a finale. But then again, not many shows’ first finales are as bad as Dexter’s was.
After the original Dexter series finale back in 2013 was received, let’s say, less than warmly, Showtime decided to try it again. Following a seven year cool-off period, the network invited original showrunner Clyde Phillips back to envision a new end for Bay Harbor Butcher in the limited series Dexter: New Blood.
Now Dexter: New Blood’s new ending has come and gone and despite mixed fan reaction, it’s hard to argue that it isn’t an improvement…or at least we believe it is. Still, while Dexter: New Blood did an excellent job in wrapping up Dexter’s story once and for all, it left some secondary Dexter characters out in the cold. That’s partly...

“Dexter: New Blood” staged a reunion (of sorts) in the December 5 episode when Dexter’s new girlfriend, Iron Lake Chief of Police Angela Bishop (Julia Jones), met his old coworker, Miami Metro Captain Angel Batista (David Zayas). The last time viewers saw Batista was in the 2013 series finale, when Dexter (Michael C. Hall) drove his boat into a hurricane and made everyone believe he and his son Harrison had died. Zayas now reveals he had “mixed feelings” about that controversial ending, telling EW, “I felt it might’ve been a little underwhelming.”

I, honestly, bloody love that first movie and found it genuinely scary at the time, yeah it spawned about seven hundred and thirty three sequels that all pretty much sucked in comparison but they have remained a guilty pleasure in part due to my love of that original movie.
Then… all of a sudden,...
I never thought I would miss those inbred hillbilly freaks as much as I do right now…

Next year's Wrong Turn remake has gotten its first official poster along with a new title. As shown on the poster, the upcoming reboot will be called Wrong Turn: The Foundation. Otherwise, the black-and-white poster doesn't reveal much else, bearing only the silhouette of a broken pair of antlers. This goes in line with the new villains of the series, as some are listed on IMDb with names like Deer Skull, Ram Skull, and Wild Board Skull. It's just enough to make big fans of the series excited for the franchise's return to theaters, which will be happening sometime in 2020, although an exact release date still has yet to be revealed.
As previously reported, Wrong Turn: The Foundation will be a complete reboot of the franchise with no apparent connections to the movies in the series to come before it. Before this debut poster, we got a Wrong Turn reboot...

That's a wrap on the Wrong Turn remake, as the upcoming horror movie has finished shooting in Ohio. Over the weekend, director Mike P. Nelson took to Instagram to let his followers know the movie has completed filming and is now headed into the editing process. Along with a photo of the set with a bloody hand in the foreground, here's what Nelson said in the caption of the image.
"The last three months have been absolutely insane. I can't wait to show you all what we have been creating. Movie #2 blessed me yet again with such an amazing crew and a cast that carried the weight of this beast. Long nights in the woods, moldy caverns, moss covered boulders and skulls was our world for the hasty and dense 26 day shoot.
This project was also special as it reunited me with my good friend, Dp and collaborator Nick Junkersfeld.

The Wrong Turn franchise hasn’t ever been a well respected horror series, but it has shown itself to be pretty sustainable over the years, delivering a total of six films between 2003 and 2014. Now, the carnage will continue with yet another outing currently in production.
Yes, as you may’ve heard, Constantin Film – the studio behind the Resident Evil movies – is bringing us a new chapter in this series that revolves around an inbred family of cannibalistic mountain men from West Virginia. Mike P. Nelson, director of the acclaimed post-apocalyptic thriller The Domestics, will be behind the camera and in what may sound like a familiar premise, the movie will feature a group of friends who embark on a hiking trip through the Appalachian Trail.
It’s here that they come into contact with “The Foundation,” a community who’ve been residing in the mountains for many decades and these...

Get ready to head back into the woods, as the upcoming Wrong Turn reboot has begun filming in Ohio. According to Cincinnati reporter Sheila Vilvens on Twitter, film crews are in the village of New Richmond through Sept. 13 for the production of the next installment of the Wrong Turn movie series. In response, another Ohioan claims the crews are also shooting in the town of Felicity. No photos of the production have yet been made available and the particulars of the scenes are currently unclear, but this does suggest the reboot is on track to be released sometime next year.
