Jack White’s fans at his show at Toyosu Pit in Tokyo on Saturday were treated to a surprise performance by Eddie Vedder.
During White’s encore, which included the White Stripes songs “Hypnotize” and “Seven Nation Army,” White launched into Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” with his band. White delivered the first verse before the Pearl Jam frontman surprised fans when he sauntered on the stage to join in during the first chorus. At one point during the performance, Vedder freestyled with lyrics that included “There’s only one Jack White.

Seldom do actors steal the spotlight quite like James Gandolfini did. The man’s presence was enough to attract all the eyes in the room. He wasn’t just an actor, he was a force of nature and on the unfortunate date of June 19, 2013, he left the world, leaving a dent James Gandolfini-shaped hole in Hollywood. While it has been over a decade since he passed, his fans have stayed loyal to him all these years, keeping his memory alive, one The Sopranos re-watch after the next.

The world really lost one of the greatest acting talents of all time when James Gandolfini passed away back in 2013, leaving behind a legacy very few can live up to. His acting credits in masterpieces like his all-time best smash-hit mafia series The Sopranos and the thriller-crime fan-favorite flick The Drop are the perfect proof of the outstanding actor that the late legend was.

While the news of his passing away, which surfaced more than a decade ago now, left his fans around the globe devastated, the ones left even more heartbroken were the people who actually got to work with him—like Steven Van Zandt. When we talk about peak television, The Sopranos would definitely be among the top ten with its crime saga and psychological elements. Apart from the show, James Gandolfini’s portrayal of the mafia boss Tony Soprano is also widely regarded as one of the finest in the history of television. But behind this tough character was an actor who was deeply committed to playing the role to the best of his abilities.

However, one time Gandolfini messed up one scene intentionally just to see if the director noticed or not. To his surprise, his mess-up went unnoticed, and the director simply moved on to the next shot.

In a past interview, David Chase, the creator of The Sopranos, shared his thoughts on the widely discussed finale of the series. The ending, which left Tony Soprano’s fate up in the air, created a storm of debate among fans. People were split, with some believing that Tony survived, while others felt that his death was the inevitable conclusion.

The Sopranos followed the story of mob boss Tony Soprano, played by the brilliant James Gandolfini. The series revolved around Tony trying to find a balance between his mob family and his real family. As a result, Gandolfini’s performance began integral to the series and it might surprise some fans that he was nearly replaced by another actor who was later cast in a different role.

During an interview, Silvio Dante actor Steven Van Zandt revealed he had originally auditioned for the role of Tony Soprano in the series. However, he was offered a different role but creator David Chase opted to create an entirely new character for Van Zandt after the actor felt bad for one understandable reason. Twenty-six years since it premiered, The Sopranos remains a raw and provocative account of criminal camaraderie, the unusual tangled matters of the heart, and the pliable structure of good and evil. But as good a show as it was, it left us with a few unanswered questions. The biggest one is about Tony Soprano.
What really happened to the Dimeo crime family boss at the diner in the finale? Did the “Man in the Members Only Jacket” give him the Sollozzo and McClusky treatment, or did he live to argue with Carmela a million more times? After all, his major feud with the Lupertazzi crime family had been solved. Could there have been another party willing to whack him? Series creator David Chase has remained cagey about the answer, refusing to bulge again in the recent “Making Of” docuseries, Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos.

Bruce Springsteen wrapped up a productive 2024 on location in New Jersey, which has included spending time on the set of the biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere.
The 20th Century Studios film, about the making of Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska, stars Jeremy Allen White of The Bear and began filming scenes in November. The production is scheduled for more Jersey location shoots in January, including concert scenes in East Rutherford, on its way to a 2025 release date.
Much of the filming so far has taken place in Asbury Park, with scenes involving Frank’s Deli and Restaurant on Main St., the Stone Pony, the Convention Hall, the Carousel House, and, of course, the beach. The movie has transformed Asbury Park into a 1980s version of itself, with period-appropriate cars parked on Main St. Inside the Carousel House, the production recreated the old merry-go-round, as well as the rides that were iconic on the Asbury Park boardwalk.

The Boss is a fan of The Bear. Bruce Springsteen praised Jeremy Allen White’s performance in the upcoming Springsteen biopic “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” calling him a “terrific actor.”
Production began on “Deliver Me From Nowhere” in October, and Springsteen was photographed visiting the New Jersey set in November. In an interview on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio at the start of the year, Bruce was asked if it is strange to see someone portraying you in a movie.
“A little bit at first, but you get over that pretty quick, and Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall into it,” Springsteen said. “He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize, so he’s done a great job. Even with great dramas like Succession and The Wire, The Sopranos still remains one of the best TV drama shows of all time. From its iconic opening credits song to its deep examination of masculinity, culture and mental health (rarely discussed openly on TV in 1999), The Sopranos redefined TV storytelling and character studies while inspiring later greats like Mad Men and Breaking Bad.
At the heart of The Sopranos is the concept of family, relationships and its dynamic and deep characters that are put into extraordinary situations. Whether it be mob boss family man Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) or Tony's erratic nephew Christoper Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli), The Sopranos has had some incredible episodes exploring its well-developed characters over its six-season run.

It’s funny how sometimes the most unexpected connections pop up, breaking the rules we thought we had about entertainment. We always believed you could only pick one side: the quirky, fast-talking Lorelai Gilmore (from Gilmore Girls) and her charming Stars Hollow or the brooding, morally gray Tony Soprano (The Sopranos) and his dark world of mobsters.
One was all about warm, heartfelt coffee shop moments, while the other was steeped in criminal drama and family power struggles. The two shows seemed like worlds apart—how could they possibly overlap?
The Sopranos | Credit: HBO
Well, leave it to the internet to throw that logic out the window. It turns out that, while Lorelai and Tony may never have shared a coffee or swapped mafia tips, an eagle-eyed Redditor stumbled upon a shocking little Easter egg that ties the two shows together in a way that’ll make you do a double-take.

The last time Jesse Malin performed in New York, in March 2023, he jumped off the stage at Webster Hall, waded through the crowd, and ended up singing atop the bar at the rear of the venue in a punk-rock display of sweaty artist-fan communion. The Sopranos was a brilliant HBO show that followed the life of mobster Tony Soprano. In the show, Tony had many allies who worked under him and by his side. While some were discovered to be informants down the line, most members of the Dimeo family were truly loyal to Tony Soprano. One of Tony's most loyal allies was Silvio Dante. Tony could look to Silvio for advice, and an objective answer to all his inquiries would be provided. In The Sopranos, when the previous boss of the Dimeo crime family passed away, making Tony Soprano the boss, Silvio quickly took on a secondary role next to him.
Silvio Dante was the consigliere and right-hand to Tony Soprano. Silvio loyally executed any task at Tony's command, without any resistance. He listened to all of Tony's inquiries and rarely provided a disputing response. It wasn't until the final season of The Sopranos...

“Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band,” Thom Zimny’s newest documentary, closely examines the famous musician’s life at a turning point. The movie, which came out in 2024, shows how strong Springsteen is as he leads his famous band back onto the world stage after the Covid-19 pandemic forced them to take a six-year break.
The documentary isn’t just a concert movie; it’s a complex look at how art can grow and emotion can last. Since Zimny has worked with Springsteen for a long time and directed “Springsteen on Broadway” and “Letter to You,” this project has his signature documentary style. He carefully stitches together performance footage, practice footage from behind the scenes, and personal thoughts to make a rich tapestry of Springsteen’s current musical journey.
Springsteen isn’t just playing at age 75; he’s making a deep statement about his dedication to art.

Named the best-written show of all time by the Writers Guild of America, The Sopranos has no bad episodes (no IMDb score below 7). This is hardly surprising, considering that most stories came from talented minds like Matt Weiner (creator of Mad Men) and Terrence Winter. Much credit also goes to all the cast members, and with the great David Chase serving as the Don of the set, its easy to see why everything flowed smoothly.

Hulu and Disney+'s new documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, follows "the 'Boss" and his long-term musical cohorts, the E Street Band, as they undertake their latest world tour. The film is particularly poignant as it appears to signal that Springsteen is finally close to hanging up his guitar after some 50-plus years of stellar performing and recording. Given that Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band marks the band's first live shows in seven years, it's clear that Springsteen's multitudinous fans are bracing themselves for Director Thom Zimny's film to herald the Boss's retirement.
Springsteen's long-term collaborator and musical director, Steven Van Zandt, is central to everything the E Street Band does, and has been with Springsteen since they were 16 years old. He joined the band full-time just as they were completing the Born To Run sessions, and as Springsteen tells it, he...

As they prepare to embark on their first tour in six years, the E Street Band reflect on the “responsibility” they feel to deliver on the sort of energetic, virtuosic shows they’ve built their reputation on.
“People would expect musicians in their 70s to play that loping thing, which is unfortunate,” drummer Max Weinberg bemoans of a sluggish early rehearsal. “We had to recall some of that manic, out-of-control way we played 50 years ago. Really get back to where we were.”

Bruce Springsteen fans get liner notes of the most luxurious, informed and immersive kind with this documentary by longtime Springsteen chronicler Thom Zimny, who charts Bruce and the E Street Band on their current world tour. Springsteen himself is a bit of a cipher, choosing to contribute voiceover bookends which have the staged quality of his Springsteen on Broadway show. There’s an amusing moment early on as they gather for rehearsals, drummer Max Weinberg drily noting that the anthemic She’s the One has slowed to a funereal ballad pace in the time away.

Bruce Springsteen’s longtime manager Jon Landau is giving his thoughts on the upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, which follows The Boss while making his hit 1982 album Nebraska.
Jeremy Allen White is set to play Springsteen in the film, with Landau being portrayed by Jeremy Strong. The project will be based on the 2023 book Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska by Warren Zanes.

That includes Strong, with whom Landau is also very happy.
“I died and went to heaven,” the manager joked when he heard the Succession star would be playing him. “He’s a great guy.

London got a taste of The Boss on Friday evening.
Bruce Springsteen took to a smaller stage than he is used to in the British capital on Friday evening, discussing the concert documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band during an event organized by Disney+, which will premiere the film with Hulu on Oct. 25.
Following a screening of the doc, a Q&a that featured The Boss, who was welcomed with a standing ovation, long-time friend and band member Stevie Van Zandt and director Thom Zimny, as well as producer and Springsteen manager Jon Landau, provided additional insight. The session was moderated by Scottish radio DJ and TV host Edith Bowman.
“If you get the art right, the music right and the band right, you go out and play every night like it’s your last night on Earth,” Springsteen said about the longevity of the band.
