Saturday Night Live has been quiet the past couple of weeks. But what should SNL fans expect to see on NBC tonight?
Saturday Night Live Season 50 last aired a new episode on March 8. Lady Gaga returned to Studio 8H to serve as both the host and musical guest. It was an absurd episode that matched Gaga's larger-than-life persona.
But then things got quiet as we moved through the remainder of March. Unfortunately, that trend will continue. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight, March 22.
Instead, NBC will reair the December 21, 2014 episode. Tune in to revisit Martin Short as host, assisted by musical guest Hozier.
When will Saturday Night Live return?
The good news is that we won't have to wait long for a new episode of Saturday Night Live. The sketch show has set its next three episodes on the schedule

It’s been over half a century since Elton John was a “new artist,” but that hasn’t kept him from keeping a finger on the pulse of things. In a new interview, the legendary musician has offered advice to the up-and-coming generation of performers, advising them to skip reality competitions like American Idol and The X Factor, and “go and play in a pub” instead.
The comments were made in John’s recent interview alongside Brandi Carlile for a Rolling Stone UK cover story, ahead of their upcoming collaborative album, Who Believes in Angels?. Sharing their “key tips for making it” as a new act, each artist spoke about ways to find success, with John asserting that “the way you improve as a musician and songwriter” is playing live.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re playing to 40 people,” he said. “The more experience you get playing to nobody,...

SNL is returning from a two-week hiatus, and it has some big hosts and musical guests set.
Mikey Madison, fresh from winning the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Anora, will host on March 29 with Morgan Wallen as musical guest.
Madison is making her SNL hosting debut, while Wallen is making his second appearance. The country singer previously featured in December 2020, two months after he was dropped from an episode after failing to take Covid precautions on a night out.
Black is hosting for the fourth time, and his April 5 episode coincides with his appearance in the A Minecraft Movie, which hits theaters the day before. He will be joined by Elton John and Brandi Carlile as musical guests. John has actually only on SNL only twice, first as musical guest in 1982 and then as host and musical guest in 2011. He has, however, been impersonated a lot on the show.

Leadership changes in the fashion industry are far from new, but this week’s developments promise to impact Hollywood red carpets in a substantive way — perhaps even starting with the May 5 Met Gala. You have to wonder whether stars placed panicked calls to stylists on Thursday, when Donatella Versace announced she was stepping back from design duties to become the house’s brand ambassador, with former Miu Miu designer Dario Vitale taking over as creative director. (Fold in the fact that, minutes following Donatella’s announcement, the news broke that Demna is departing Balenciaga to become Gucci’s creative director, and it’s enough to make any star’s stylist break into a cold sweat.)
“Championing the next generation of designers has always been important to me,” Donatella said in a statement released Thursday. “It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry on my brother Gianni’s legacy.

It's hard to see from the outside just how strange the cult of celebrity is. When someone rises to the level of fame that creates a true 'movement' around their art, an entire society, sometimes even the world, gets caught up in the ideas of their genius. We rarely get a moment to look at this, and what it means or could lead to, because we are all under the spell. Opus wants to solve that problem, with writer/director Mark Anthony Green holding a mirror to this phenomenon from the very first frames of the movie. We watch in slow motion as people of all ages and walks of life 'rock out' to some pop-phenom's music. Becoming the observer of this makes it all instantly silly, strange, and a bit creepy.
But it's not that weird. We've seen fans drooling, falling, and dying for glimpses of their celebrity idols for decades.

Opus filmmaker Mark Anthony Green took nothing for granted on the set of his feature directorial debut.
The Kansas City-area native, who’s affectionately regarded as “Mag,” took a circuitous route to filmmaking, beginning his career as a journalist and (eventual) editor for GQ. There, he interviewed the likes of LeBron James, Donald Glover and Daniel Kaluuya. Halfway through his 13-year tenure at the men’s magazine, Green realized he could no longer suppress his longtime urge to become a filmmaker, so he put everything he had into a short film known as Trapeze, U.S.A. (2017). A couple years later, he started writing a thriller titled Opus, which is now hitting theaters on Mar. 14 by way of A24.
Green was so elated to be living out his dream that he went above and beyond to establish an egalitarian tone on his Santa Fe-area set. This approach was not only intended for his stars,...

For several years, the nominees for Album of the Year were decided by secretive nomination review committees, but the Recording Academy got rid of most of those in 2021 after The Weeknd's notorious shutout, so now the decisions are made entirely by members at large. Scroll down for our latest odds, which are based on the combined predictions of Gold Derby users. Those odds are constantly changing, so we'll be updating this list throughout the season.
SEEGrammy Album of the Year: All the Winners in Grammy Awards History
In 2022, the first year without the committees, the Grammys expanded Album of the Year to 10 nominations (though that has since been contracted back to eight). The 2022 winner ended up being We Are by Jon Batiste, which was a surprise against higher-profile hits. So even without the committees to uplift underdog recordings, the academy's 13,000 voters don't necessarily default to the most popular nominee.

When you've already turned it up to 11, where do you go from there? Listen! It's like a Mozart symphony! Scroll! And watch the trailer below;
Okay, so when we say this is a teaser for Spinal Tap II, we really do mean it's a teaser: all we actually get in this thirty second snippet is a series of knobs being twiddled, a burst of low-budget explosion FX, and the all-too-familiar...

It’s been more than 4 decades since the fictional band Spinal Tap graced its presence in theaters. Now, fans of the comedy parody movie showcasing one of England’s loudest bands will only have to wait a few more months to see what they’ve been up to all these years.
A new teaser dropped on Spinal Tap’s official X account on March 12. In the 30-second clip, someone is shown plugging in a guitar into an amp and turning the dials on the amp to 11, except for one which goes past 11. In 1984’s This Is Spinal Tap, Nigel Tunfel (Christopher Guest) is seen using a guitar amplifier that has knobs that go from zero to 11, and not the typical 10, therefore cementing Spinal Tap is the loudest band.
The teaser clip shown on X was captioned: “This time, we’re going beyond 11.” The movie also now has an official title...

Long-in-gestation sequel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues has been picked up for distribution in the US, with its cinema release set for September 2025.
Over 40 years on, one of the funniest movies of all time is getting a belated sequel. Spinal Tap II: The End Continues – a follow-up to 1984’s This Is Spinal Tap – is now finished, and has found US distribution via Bleecker Street, a distribution company that recently also distributed Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths. As a result, it’s getting a proper cinema release in US cinemas on the 12th September. With any luck, it’ll appear in our fleapits not too long after.
Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer are all returning as the main players in the titular Spinal Tap – an earnest yet singularly clueless rock band whose popularity peaked in the 1970s. Directed by Rob Reiner (who also appeared in front of the...

How does a truly terrible song end up an otherwise flawless album? Blame ego-appeasing band-politics concessions, drug-fueled studio experiments, songwriters working through a few too many personal demons, and artists who just ran out of songwriting steam a little too soon. Or maybe it all comes down to bad judgment.

Joker: Folie à Deuxis infamous for how much it underperformed upon release last year, bombing at the box office and garnering rather harsh reviews. It was even given several Golden Raspberry Award (Razzie), including Worst Sequel along with Worst Screen Combo for Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix.
On Saturday night's episode of Saturday Night Live, Gaga appeared to pull double duty as the show's host and musical guest. In her opening monologue, she took some time to address the Joker sequel coming up short. After sarcastically remarking that people thought the film was "awesome," she then suggested she was happy about her Razzie win, explaining that this will help make her an "Egort."
“I’ve been very diligent about selecting films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor. Films such as Joker 2. Apparently, people thought it was awesome," she said. "Joaquin and I even got nominated for a Razzie,...

Lady Gaga's new album, Mayhem, just dropped on Friday, but a number of critics are already singing its praises. The album scored 85 on Metacritic based on the first 11 reviews counted. "Bow down, little monsters!" says Helen Brown (The Independent UK). "For her sixth studio album, Mayhem hails the return of your Mama Monster to all her shock-horror-bop glory." She adds, "At a moment when America’s leaders seek to shove its marginalized citizens back into the shadows, she invites them back into the centre of the floor, celebrating their defiant differences in the bright strobe lighting."
Alexis Petridis (The Guardian) writes, "It’s consistently well-written, teeming with hooks and liberally sprinkled with intriguing musical left-turns.
