American Idol season 23's Carrie Underwood wore a specific shade of pink when she debuted as a judge, and it has a special meaning because it was the same color that she wore during her American Idol season 4 audition that started it all. Carrie Underwood joined the American Idol season 23 judging panel, alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, after Katy Perry left the show after seven seasons. Katy, Lionel, and Luke were the original judges when ABC revived the show in 2018 after Fox canceled it in 2016.
Carrie is uniquely qualified to be an American Idol season 23 judge because she won American Idol season 4 in 2005. Since then, she's gone on to become one of the most successful winners of the show and a global superstar, dominating the country music genre for the past two decades. Although Carrie has achieved superstardom, she never forgets that she got her start on American Idol,...

Fans of The Bachelor might remember a certain season a few years back, when longtime former host Chris Harrison made a messy exit from the show. Due to the controversy, retired NFL player-turned-media personality Emmanuel Acho stepped in to host a landmark episode in 2021, one that addressed certain issues tied to the female contestant who "the bachelor" ended up choosing to be his soulmate by season's end. After all, Acho had already written a book called Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man, followed by hosting a podcast of the same name, and did a superb job handling the racism-laced subject matter in that pivotal Bachelor episode.
Years later, Acho has kept busy in the media biz by hosting an entirely new series called Second Chance Stage, now streaming on Max. MovieWeb recently caught up with Acho to learn more about his competition show — and whether he'd ever like to return...

Between Broadway, the silver screen, and television, Taye Diggs has graced audiences with a seemingly endless number of delicious roles over the years, and there's no slowing down for the actor and now judge of an all-new competition show on Max, Second Chance Stage. Back in 2018, an acclaimed rom-com dropped on Netflix called Set It Up, which saw Diggs playing the hardnosed boss of an overworked assistant, played by none other than Glen Powell. Since then, that Top Gun: Maverick actor has further risen to stardom, leading the charge in a number of bigger-budget productions (Twisters) and other beloved Netflix movies (Hit Man). MovieWeb recently caught up with Diggs, who took time to speak about Powell since they shared a number of laugh-out-loud moments on-screen in Set It Up.

Taye Diggs has returned to television in a brand-new capacity: as a judge on the competition show Second Chance Stage. But leading up to this latest gig, the talented performer has certainly kept busy with a wide variety of acting roles over the years, plus hosting the coveted Critics' Choice Awards a number of times. Fans of The CW's offerings might know him best as "Coach" from the hit series All American — and were probably bummed when Diggs' character was abruptly killed off during season 5. Luckily, series followers were able to see Diggs make a strange return in the latest season — as a ghost — and MovieWeb recently caught up with the talented performer to ask about his experience on the show overall, especially after his little Season 6 comeback.

Leslie Fram, CMT’s senior VP of music strategy and talent for some 13 years, penned a farewell letter to the staff that she posted on social media Tuesday, just days after the channel was gutted by the network-wide layoffs at its parent company Paramount Global.
Fram is a longtime major player in the country-music community who oversaw the channel’s music programming overs on all verticals as well as the CMT Music Awards and franchises like CMT Storytellers, Giants and Crossroads, among other responsibilities. Yet her stature in Nashville reaches far beyond the channel, as is evident in her farewell letter:
“Among my proudest achievements has been our decade+ support of women with CMT’s ‘Next Women of Country,’ a program that has helped promote and elevate over 100 female artists on all platforms, and our efforts to move the format forward in areas of inclusion and diversity,” she writes. She...

“I wasn’t competing for my life,” says Grammy-nominated singer Ruben Studdard when comparing his recent appearance on “The Masked Singer” to winning “American Idol” in 2003. “The stakes were much higher for me on ‘American Idol’ than they will ever be on ‘The Masked Singer.’ I wanted to win, but it’s just completely different.” Studdard competed on the Fox reality TV competition with his pal Clay Aiken as Beets, who adds, “‘The Masked Singer’ pays so much better.” Watch their exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior editor Denton Davidson above.
The duo lost the Group B finals to Gumball, and were sent home after belting out “One Moment in Time” by Whitney Houston. “I am not competitive at all,” Clay admits when asked if he was upset. “I have gotten so good at losing shows that if I had won I would probably be more upset because it would ruin my reputation.

Parker McCollum and Brittney Spencer delivered the hard-hearted breakup anthem “Burn It Down” to the 2024 CMT Music Awards stage on Sunday.
The “Compassion” singer appeared in an embellished red dress, while McCollum took the stage in a fitted black t-shirt and cap as the pair performed against a backdrop of literal flames. Spencer’s soaring vocals elevated the radio hit as the pair took on the smoldering chorus: “Burn it down ’til it’s ashes and smoke/Burn it down to the smolderin’ coal/Burn it down ’til I don’t want you no more.

If you’ve been online at all over the past two weeks, you’ve heard “Planet of the Bass,” a viral 1990s Eurodance parody that rapidly evolved from TikTok gag to, arguably, the song of the summer. The first teaser and key art for the “American Dream” season of “Hell’s Kitchen” has arrived, TheWrap can exclusively reveal. Season 22 of the series is set to premiere Sept. 28 on Fox.
“Winning ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ is the American dream,” a contestant confidently says into the camera during this first teaser.
The 30-second clip then cuts between several wild scenes, from cheerleaders performing a routine in the studio to food fights and someone pouring what appears to be milk onto one of the contestants. Baked into the mix are several Gordon Ramsay staples such as the celebrity chef yelling repeatedly about raw meat and labelling a dish “disgusting.” Watch the promo above.
In the “American Dream” season of the series, contestants will be divided into red and blue teams and will compete in various themed challenges, including a BBQ competition, creating their own signature dish and performing dinner service at the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant.

Wynonna Judd knew going on tour soon after her mother died wouldn’t be easy. She also didn’t know it would be healing.

It was a short-lived run for the Romans’ country music dynasty, as Fox has canceled Monarch after just one season. As reported by Deadline, Monarch will not be returning for a second season. The show had gone through a number of changes since it was originally filmed during the pandemic. Initially, it was set for a January 2022 launch but was pushed back as a result of Covid-19. It was then redesigned as a shorter 11-episode series. “Monarch,” the country music drama starring Susan Sarandon and Trace Adkins, has been canceled after one season on Fox, IndieWire has confirmed.
The show will not return for a second season and will end after Tuesday night’s season – now series – finale.
