“Do you have it?” It’s a question asked by Nickelodeon to those who competed on Guts, the popular competition series that initially excited Nick kids from 1992 to 1995. Soundstage 21 at Universal Studios Florida was transformed into the “Extreme Arena,” where a crowd cheered on the young participants as they squared off in various obstacle course-style challenges. It all led to the moment everyone waited for, the ascent up the mountainous Aggro Crag. Yeah, money would be nice for winning. But let’s be honest what these teens wanted was that coveted neon green Aggro Crag trophy. Now almost 30 years later, Mike O’Malley (who co-hosted the show with Moira Quirk) looks back on this nostalgic era fondly. The actor and writer still meets fans at conventions who tell him about the impact the series had on their childhood. He is now married with three children. For O’Malley Guts came early on...

Leave it to Abbott Elementary to make us a casting offer we couldn't refuse. The Philadelphia-set comedy from Quinta Brunson has become a beloved ABC sitcom, so it's no surprise that the series is continuing to bust out the most impressive guest star names for its current season. Like Godfather patriarch Vito Corleone's youngest daughter Connie, and Adrian from Rocky herself, Talia Shire.

Kelli Berglund, who plays the heroic champion pro wrestler Crystal Tyler on Netflix's Heels, takes a turn as a villainous wrestler in Queen of the Ring. Written and directed by Ash Avildsen, Queen of the Ring is an upcoming film chronicling the life and career of Mildred Burke (Emily Bett Rickards), the first million-dollar female pro wrestler who was a superstar in the 1940s and 1950s. I was delighted to screen Queen of the Ring at the Newport Beach Film Festival, and it's a riveting and rousing pro wrestling biopic with a stellar cast from top to bottom.
In Heels, Crystal Tyler is the underdog female star of the Duffy Wrestling League (Dwl) run by Jack Spade (Stephen Amell). Crystal fights her way up from her role as the valet of Ace Spade (Alexander Ludwig) to a legitimate pro wrestler, spearheading the creation of the Dwl's women's division. In...

Monsieur Spade is the latest in a long line of works that feature the iconic film noir detective Samuel Spade. Like all great works of mystery fiction, the writings that feature Spade use many of the noir genre film tropes, but they were the projects originating these tropes that are now well-known. Unsurprisingly, it didn't take long for movies to adapt the stories of Sam Spade, bringing them to audiences everywhere. While many actors have taken on the role, only a few have defined it, and their legacies have been intertwined with that of Spade himself.

The following contains major spoilers from Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 8, "By Weeping Cross," which debuted Sept. 8 on AMC.
With Snowpiercer ending its run after four seasons, the show has taken a smart, welcome approach by giving more air-time to other heroes. It mostly focused on Daveed Digg's Andre Layton, as well as Melanie's core train workers, as they fought villains like Mr. Wilford. Now, they all have to unite to stop the International Peacekeeping Forces (Ipf).
Layton needs help against a much bigger villain. Sadly, it resulted in the deaths of people like Snowpiercer's Engineer, Ben. Interestingly, one other hero gets their time to shine, teasing a much bigger arc to come if tragedy strikes. This is none other than Sam Roche, the former leader of the Brakemen.

Just when fans thought Heels was down for the count, like any good pro wrestling story, there is the comeback. Hopes for Season 3 were bodyslammed by Starz when it canceled the drama in September 2023. Fast forward a year later and the first two seasons are finding a home on Netflix starting September 15. This opens the door for more eyes on the show, which may ignite a groundswell of demand for more. At the center of the story are Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig as brothers Jack and Ace Slade who butt heads when it comes to continuing their late dad’s promotion Duffy Wrestling League and legacy in Georgia. When the network axed Heels, it was no doubt a punch to the guts for showrunner Mike O’Malley. The veteran actor who plays the excentric Florida Wrestling Dystopia owner Charlie Gully shared a deep-rooted passion with others attached to the series.

“Heels” has set its Netflix launch date.
The streamer announced Wednesday that the Starz series, which was canceled after two seasons in September 2023, will become available on Netflix on Sept. 15. Both seasons of the series will drop on that date. Netflix had previously announced in April that it had licensed the series. “Heels” aired its first season on Starz in 2021, with the second season following in 2023.
That is good news for fans of the show, which followed the professional wrestlers of the Duffy Wrestling League, a small independent promotion in Georgia. Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) inherited the league from his father and now struggles to keep it afloat while also trying to take it to the next level.
The series also starred Alexander Ludwig, Chris Bauer, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, Trey Tucker, Robby Ramos, Alice Barrett Mitchell, Roxton Garcia, David James Elliott, Joel Murray, and Cm Punk. Mike O’Malley,...

Both seasons of the drama about the world of small-town pro wrestling will premiere on the streamer Sunday, September 15.
Starz canceled the series in 2023. In April, Netflix and Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution Group agreed to a licensing agreement for the two seasons of the series that stars Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig, Allen Maldonado, Alison Luff, Chris Bauer, Kelli Berglund, Mary McCormack, Robby Ramos, Trey Tucker, Roxton Garcia, and James Harrison.
“Netflix is very practical,” EP/Showrunner Mike O’Malley told EW, which first broke the news about the premiere date. “If a lot of people watch the show, then there’s a real chance that we can make more. And if people don’t, there’s no reason to make more… The acting performances are so authentic and so genuine by every actor in this series, and I am thrilled that this platform...

Lisa Ann Walter has brought a lot of herself to her portrayal of tough-as-nails Melissa Schemmenti on Abbott Elementary, particularly her Sicilian upbringing and the experiences of her teacher mother. This latest season also saw her character get closer to fellow instructor Jacob Hill, played by Chris Perfetti, whom Walter has invited over for holidays.
The most recent batch of episodes packed in a lot of plot given the reduced order as a result of the strikes, and for Schemmenti that means a deeper exploration of romantic entanglements, including rejecting a proposal from vending machine guy Gary (Bruno Amato) and getting it on with a fire captain (Mike O’Malley). Walter, in the middle of making banana cake, hopped on a Zoom with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss accents, Bradley Cooper, and being embraced by Philly.

The pro wrestling series Heels is making its way to Netflix this summer following a two-season run on Starz. A Netflix premiere date has been revealed for the series, and if it finds a big enough audience on the streaming platform, then Season 3 is a very real possibility.
Per PWInsider, Heels will start streaming on Netflix on July 29, 2024, though this date hasn't been officially announced by the streamer at this time. Both seasons of the series will be streaming together, allowing fans and newcomers to the show to binge-watch every episode. In April, it was reported that Netflix had acquired non-exclusive rights to stream the show, and that the company was open to reviving Heels with a potential third season. Of course, that will depend upon Heels drawing in high enough viewership to justify the revival.

It's been 15 years since Glee first aired, and two of the show's stars reunited this week to celebrate the anniversary. Darren Criss and Mike O'Malley had a small Hummel-Anderson family reunion and shared their meetup on social media. Sadly, the sweet reunion didn't include any others from their Glee family, but the duo looked delighted to be reunited. O'Malley shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter), which featured his in-show son-in-law, with the caption "Heckuva son-in-law." The photo had both men smiling and pointing to each other and didn't give any further context for their meet-up.

I’m going to tell you something that will instantly rattle a millennial body to its core: “Glee,” the Fox musical dramedy that became a phenomenon before becoming a dark cultural tale, premiered 15 years ago, on May 19, 2009.
To make you feel slightly better about the passage of time, that date is a bit of a cheat: Because Fox suspected it had an honest-to-goodness hit on its hands, the network premiered the first episode after the “American Idol” Season 8 finale in May, before beginning the full season a few months later in September.
Still, May 19 was the day the world first was re-reminded of the wonder of “Don’t Stop Believin,’” witnessed the instantly iconic combo of cringe and charisma that was Rachel Berry/Lea Michele, and considered the shocking declaration that someone could be both an athlete and a singer.

NBC has joined other networks in adding to the slew of cancellations on television. It was announced that a new fan-favorite comedy series would be canceled after just one season. Continue reading for the details about what the latest cancellation is and what’s behind it.
NBC Decides Against Renewing New Comedy Series
Extended Family was granted a pilot episode in 2022. The pilot wound up being a great success and several big names signed up to be part of the show. Some of the names included in the project were Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), Abigail Spencer (Grey’s Anatomy), and Donald Faison (Scrubs).
However, when they started filming, it was delayed by the strikes, which went on for several months. They were able to film six episodes before the strikes, leaving the remaining seven episodes left to film once production resumed four days after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Ahead of next week’s upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers, NBC has solidified its comedy lineup for the 2024-25 broadcast season.
The network has handed out a series order to the multicamera comedy Happy’s Place, starring Reba McEntire, and renewed George Lopez’s half-hour Lopez vs. Lopez for a third season. Additionally, NBC has canceled rookie comedy Extended Family, starring Jon Cryer.
Happy’s Place, which was picked up to pilot in late January, revolves around Bobbie (McEntire), who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had. The series reunites McEntire with the team behind her eponymous 2001 sitcom, including showrunner Kevin Abbott and co-star Melissa Peterman. Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn round out the cast of the series, which is produced in-house at Universal Television.
