He may not be returning to Star Wars (yet), but it looks like the Force is bringing together Oscar Isaac and Rogue One director/Andor creator Tony Gilroy. The actor is reportedly set to star in Gilroy's next feature film, a drama about a cello player — though there is very little known about the movie beyond that. If true, it would mark the first time the duo have worked together. But given the talent involved, we could absolutely see it not being the last time these two talented storytellers unite in creative collaboration.
Per the folks over at ComingSoon.net, the film is only in the script stage, with details being kept under wraps. There are, reportedly, several interested studio players involved in negotiations to grab the distribution and/or production rights to the film, currently titled Behemoth. Beyond that, your best guess is as good as ours as far as what will happen.

Change is afoot in the world of cinematic spy craft. James Bond has been reassigned to Amazon. Imf agent Ethan Hunt is about to undertake quite possibly his last impossible mission — The Final Reckoning. And now, after disappearing at the end of Jason Bourne back in 2016, everybody's favourite amnesiac assassin is looking for a clean break too. Per THR's reporting, the rights to Robert Ludlum's propulsive spy saga have fallen out of Universal's hands, and the search for a new studio to reboot the franchise and bring Bourne back is very much underway.
According to THR, Skydance, Apple, and Netflix are among the parties who've held meetings with the Ludlum Estate so far, and Universal — who most recently tried to get a new Bourne project going with Conclave director Edward Berger back in 2023 — could yet win the IP back if the price is right. The Jason Bourne franchise is getting a major shakeup. After a planned sixth film in the movie series failed to materialize, the franchise is hitting the shopping block, set to leave its longtime home at Universal Studios.
Per Deadline, the Bourne franchise will be up for sale, which will be overseen by WME on behalf of the estate of author Robert Ludlum, who published the first book in the original series, The Bourne Identity, in 1980. Captivate Entertainment will manage the rights for the estate. Skydance, Apple, and Netflix are all said to be interested as potential buyers. At this point, it's too early to know if the franchise will be completely rebooted once it finds its new home, or if Matt Damon will end up returning as Jason Bourne.

Jason Bourne is up for grabs with Skydance, Netflix and Apple reportedly circling the spy property.
WME represents the late author Robert Ludlum’s estate and is shopping the rights after they left Universal, which in theory may also make bids.
The last film in the series that generated more than $1.6bn at the global box office over five instalments was Jason Bourne in 2016, directed by Paul Greengrass.
Matt Damon starred as the title character inThe Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), The Bourne Legacy (2012), and Jason Bourne.

The second and final season of Lucasfilm’s acclaimed and Emmy-nominated “Andor” series, a prequel drama to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” is set to debut on April 22. In anticipation of this event, Disney has announced that “Andor,” previously exclusive to Disney+, will now be available on Hulu and YouTube. This decision aligns with the series’ dramatic and adult-oriented nature, as “Andor” is arguably way more Tvma than anything “Star Wars” has ever made on screen (read our season one review).

Tony Gilroy is ready for life beyond Star Wars, and he's not ashamed to admit it.
Gilroy's involvement in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is well-known among Star Wars fans. As a late addition to the film, Gilroy reworked the movie's script and is largely responsible for the final product. He received screenwriting credit for the movie, and a few years later, he began working on Andor.

Critics and fans raved about Andor, and with the show ending soon, everyone is curious about Gilroy's future in Star Wars. When Kathleen Kennedy spoke with Deadline last month, she didn't rule out the possibility of Gilroy working on another Star Wars project. Discussing his work on the franchise, Kennedy said, "I don’t think he ever believed he’d be a decade inside Star Wars.

Andoris headed back to Disney+ for one last trip down memory galaxy lane, and those looking forward to the award-winning series won't have to fight sleep to watch the show's big premiere. Season 2 is set to debut on Disney+ this April, but some fans were once again prepping to pull an all-nighter (or simply wait until the next morning) to catch up on the rebellion. However, you can rest assured that Andor will return bigger and better than ever at a far more reasonable timeslot.
As first noted by Star Wars Net News, Disney+ revealed in a press release that Andor Season 2 will drop on the streamer on Apr. 22 at 6 p.m. Pt / 9 p.m. Et. In years prior, the episodes would normally drop weekly on the streamer around 12 a.m. Pt / 3:00 a.m. Et. The Mandalorian was famous for doing this, even at the height of its big cameo surprises.

After quite a long hiatus, Andor Season 2 is almost here. The prequel series to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story surprised audiences with its mature, serious tone as it delved deep into Cassian Andor's backstory. In the process, it showed a new side of the galaxy far, far away and examined the moral nuances of the rebels who took on the Empire in the years leading up to Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. It's no surprise that it has been praised as one of the best Star Wars series to date, but with such a long time between seasons, audiences might have forgotten some details from Season 1.
Audiences met Cassian in Rogue One, but Andor revealed just how little fans truly knew about the future rebel hero. The series also introduced viewers to some great new characters, like the man who recruited Cassian to the cause, Luthen Rael,...

Andor is one of the best Star Wars projects of the modern era, with the series set to conclude with its upcoming second installment. The series maps the journey of the titular character’s transformation into a revolutionary. It was created by Tony Gilroy and originally meant as a spin-off to Rogue One.

While fans are eagerly waiting for the second season’s release, Disney has opted for a different release strategy, with three episodes dropping every week. As a result, some fans are concerned that the release schedule will adversely affect what makes Gilroy so effective and Andor so great. Here is why Disney might’ve doomed Andor season 2 with its new release schedule.

After the first season of Andor finished airing on Disney+, creator Tony Gilroy discussed releasing a book of scripts from the Star Wars series. Well, it doesn’t sound like it’s happening. Gilroy recently told Collider that he’s afraid the Andor scripts could be used to train AI, and he’d like to avoid that.
“I wanted to do it. We put it together. It’s really cool. I’ve seen it, I loved it. AI is the reason we’re not,” Gilroy said. “In the end, it would be 1,500 pages that came directly off this desk. I mean, terribly sadly, it’s just too much of an X-ray and too easily absorbed. Why help the f***ing robots anymore than you can? So, it was an ego thing. It was vanity that makes you want to do it, and the downside is real. So, vanity loses.“

Andor Season 2 premieres in just a few weeks, and creator Tony Gilroy is a busy man with multiple appearances as promotion ramps up.
During a Star Wars official questions and answers session with fans on YouTube, Gilroy admitted feeling pressure to deliver in Season 2, as he believes Andor has set the bar quite high.
Via ScreenRant, Gilroy said, "Holy crap, we put the bar down here, and we're gonna get crushed if we don't deliver," while discussing possible fan backlash should Season 2 disappoint. Taking it a bit further, Gilroy added, "You see all the other shows, you see other shows where people had trouble sticking the landing, and you're like, 'Oh, my god, we have to,' like, so there's a new pressure."

Andor Season 2 is due to return on Disney+ in April 2025. The first season revealed the history of Cassian Andor, the Rebel Alliance spy who worked with Jyn Erso to steal the Death Star plans in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Season 2 is set to continue Cassian's story, following him right up to the events of Rogue One and revealing how he rises through the ranks of the Rebellion. The first season introduced Cassian as a thief, living with his adoptive mother on Ferrix, until he met Luthen Rael. After buying a stolen Imperial Starpath Unit from Cassian, Luthen recruited him for his first rebel mission.
In addition to Cassian himself, the first season of Andor explored the stories of several characters with important roles to play in the early Rebellion. Luthen Rael was one of the most notable, but he was joined by some more familiar faces. The...

“Andor” creator Tony Gilroy recently told Collider that he will not be making any of the scripts for the “Star Wars” series public out of fear they will be used to train artificial intelligence systems. Gilroy had been planning to release the scripts for the show’s first season in a book format that fans could purchase, similar to shows such as HBO’s “Succession.” However, the rise of AI effectively killed that plan.
“I wanted to do it,” Gilroy said about releasing the scripts. “We put it together. It’s really cool. I’ve seen it, I loved it. AI is the reason we’re not. In 2023, James Gunn became the first director to slip the first F-bomb into the MCU, but a year before that Andor creator Tony Gilroy almost did the same for the Star Wars franchise. Although many movies and TV shows with 12A or TV-ma ratings drop an F-bomb into their stories, the Star Wars universe has been profanity-free for almost 50 years. It seems the only thing that stopped Star Wars becoming one of the “cool kids,” was Lucasfilm – and Gilroy now agrees that it was probably for the best.
The finale of Andor Season 1 came to a dramatic end and featured a holo-recording from Fiona Shaw's Maarva Andor. During an impassioned speech urging the people of Ferrix to rise against the might of the Empire, the line “Fight the Empire” is shouted. However, that line was originally meant to be more offense to sensitive ears…you can probably guess which word would have been changed.

The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, are stirring up conversation with their latest Netflix film, The Electric State. The movie, featuring Millie Bobby Brown as Michelle Greene, Chris Pratt as John Keats, Stanley Tucci as Ethan Skate, and Woody Norman as Christopher Greene, explores a world after a robot-human war.
With a massive $320 million budget, it’s already under scrutiny for its story and quality. Now, the directors have revealed they used AI to tweak voices in the film, adding fuel to an ongoing Hollywood debate.
Joe Russo explained that AI helped adjust some of the movie’s dialogue. He sees it as a simple process, saying, “Something any ten-year-old could do after watching a TikTok video.” He argues that AI is already common in the film industry, even if people don’t talk about it much. “There’s a lot of finger-pointing and hyperbole because people are afraid. Though he enjoys building a futuristic world on screen with his hit TV series “Andor,” in real life, writer/director Tony Gilroy is trying to slow the future.
Speaking in a recent interview with Collider, Gilroy expressed his animosity toward the use of Artificial Intelligence, particularly in Hollywood, where many are training their models on screenplays whether they have the rights to them or not. For this reason, Gilroy decided to nix an initial plan to release the scripts for Season 1 as a book, similar to how “Succession” and other shows have.

Andor creator Tony Gilroy concedes that Lucasfilm was right to cut Star Wars' first F-bomb. The dramatic end of Andor season 1 featured a holo-recording from Fiona Shaw's Maarva Andor, in which she inspired the people of Ferrix to rise up against the Empire. It originally featured Star Wars' first F-bomb, with Maarva shouting, "F*** the Empire" rather than "Fight the Empire." DIsney cut the line late in the day, overruling director Benjamin Caron and even showrunner Tony Gilroy, who went so far as to write a legal brief trying to win the House of Mouse over.
Speaking to Mashable, Gilroy has conceded that Disney made the right call. "That one word... It was always like, 'Hey, we're going to put it in there, it kind of works, and here's why we think you should do it," Gilroy recalled. "It wasn't a fight," he clarified. "It was a discussion, the way it should be.

After taking time to catch on with fans at first, the second season of Andoris hotly anticipated, despite everyone knowing how it ends. As Lucasfilm focused its efforts on creating series for Disney+ over features, the prequel series about Cassian Andor mostly broke the mold. While the show seems to offer a more serious take on Star Wars than other stories, that's simply not true. Ironically, at the beginning, some fans balked at Tony Gilroy's series because Andor is clearly Star Wars for adults.

After taking time to catch on with fans at first, the second season of Andoris hotly anticipated, despite everyone knowing how it ends. As Lucasfilm focused its efforts on creating series for Disney+ over features, the prequel series about Cassian Andor mostly broke the mold. With Season 2 of Andor just weeks away, promotion for the highly anticipated series is ramping up. One way was the official Star Wars YouTube channel hosted a discussion with series creator, Tony Gilroy. There he revealed his favorite scene from Season 1, and it's probably not what you expect.
Via ScreenRant, Gilroy revealed his favorite scene is between Syril Karn, played by Kyler Soller, and his boss Chief Inspector Hyne, played by Rupert Vansittart in episode 1, "Kassa." In the scene, Syril tells Hyne about the murder of two Preox-Morlana guards after they had a run-in with Cassian Andor. Though to be clear, Syril didn't know it was Cassian at that time.
Hyne hears him out, and then dismisses the guards' deaths as an accident, basically telling Syril to drop the case. Syril is horrified that the men won't get justice. However, Hyne doesn't want to bring the Empire to Morlana and...

The upcoming second and final season of Andor, set to return to Disney+ in April, has already earned its reputation as the most mature Star Wars TV show yet. Not just because of its dark themes and mature storytelling, but also because of the strong language it uses.
In Andor, we see a new side of Star Wars. The show has introduced more serious language, with characters using words like “bastards” when referring to the Empire, and even the first known use of the word “shit” in the Star Wars universe. But there was one line that didn’t make it to the screen—Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy originally wrote a much stronger line for the character Maarva, Cassian Andor’s adopted mother.
In one of the show’s most emotional scenes, Maarva delivers a speech meant to inspire a riot, urging the people to “fight the Empire.” However, the...

Viggo Mortensen breaking his toe kicking a helmet in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is one of pop culture's most memorable behind-the-scenes fun facts, and now Andorhas given Star Warsfans their own version of this moment. Star Wars has a reputation for keeping its actors safe during filming, but things can still happen. As was the case with Mortensen's emotional portrayal of Aragorn's despair leading to two broken toes, one cast member on the set of Andor also accidentally suffered an injury.
Speaking on a Star Warslivestream, Ruescott Melshi actor Duncan Pow revealed that star Diego Luna accidentally pulled his hamstring during a running scene in Andor season 1. Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy provided commentary on the complications of filming Melshi and Cassian's escape scene as a whole, which led to Pow revealing what happened to Luna during filming. Andorshowrunner Tony Gilroy shared the "new pressure" of working on a Star Warsshow in a recent live interview, and he seemed to take a swipe at Star Wars TV shows that have come before. Andor season 2 is just around the corner, set to begin releasing on Disney+ on April 22nd. Because that date is fast approaching and there are only two currently confirmed upcoming Star Wars shows, there has been plenty of focus and attention on the second and final season of Andor.

Disney+'s Andor is returning for its highly-anticipated second and final season on April 22. Tony Gilroy, who created the seriesand worked as a writer on 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, says he's done with the franchise after Season 2 wraps.
"It's not really part of my plan," Gilroy told Collider. "I've been peripherally involved [with the franchise] for 10 years and intensely involved for six years, so that's a pretty big chunk of my life. There are other things to do. I think when it's done, I will have left a pretty big piece of Star Wars real estate behind. I'm feeling guilty about not chipping in," he added.
Gilroy has had a long career in filmmaking, having worked on films like The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Michael Clayton, and Duplicity. When asked what the future holds, Gilroy said he wants to get back into directing.

The Star Wars universe received one of its most unique additions with the Tony Gilroy-created Andor. The series follows Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, a thief who becomes an important Rebel spy. While the titular character is the show’s primary focus, Gilroy impressed viewers with a compelling cast of supporting characters.

Regarding Mon Mothma's transition from Imperial Senate opposition to future leader of the Rebellion, he acknowledged, "Canonically, there's the moment where she leaves the Senate, and that's in our timeline. Tony Gilroy created Andor, one of the best Star Wars shows of recent times, which will return with its second installment next month. The series has received critical acclaim despite being diametrically opposite to franchise creator George Lucas’s original plan for the franchise when he first launched it in 1977.

Amidst the polarizing mainline entries, which left Star Wars in an uncertain direction, Tony Gilroy and Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One proved to be a beacon of light, and Gilroy certainly didn’t disappoint with its follow-up. Andorshowrunner Tony Gilroy just confirmed that following Andor season 2, he will no longer be working with Star Wars. Andor season 2 is one of only two currently confirmed upcoming Star Wars TV shows, and its April 22, 2025, release date is just around the corner. There's plenty of curiosity about what this second and final installment of Star Wars' next TV show will entail, but, evidently, this is the end not only for Cassian Andor but also for the showrunner.
In an interview with Collider, Gilroy explained that, following Andor season 2, he will be walking away from the Star Wars franchise—and he doesn't feel bad about it. Gilroy said:

The good news for Daredevil: Born Again‘s Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox): A little over a year after Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) peaced out on him/their relationship and made tracks for San Francisco, it appears that the legal eagle might let a new woman, Heather Glenn (Revenge‘s Margarita Levieva), into his heart.
The bad news? Heather, a therapist, just took on a new client: New York City mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) and his wife Vuh-ness-ahh (Ayelet Zurer), whose marriage is facing a bit of a test these days.

The first season of Star Wars: Andor traced the development of lead character Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) from a loner mercenary to a dedicated freedom fighter willing to join the rebellion against the Empire. By the time of the movie Rogue One, he's one of the rebellion's star players. The second and final season of Andor will show us how he gets to that point.

Created by Tony Gilroy, it is a spin-off of 2016’s Rogue One and follows the titular character’s transformation into a Rebel spy. The series will return for its second and final season next month, albeit with a slightly different release pattern.

Andor finally returns for its second and final season on April 22. With the series set to blast through the final four years of Cassian Andor's life before his heartbreaking sacrifice in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we expect showrunner Tony Gilroy has a lot of story to cram in.
It's already been confirmed that the show will end where the 2016 movie began but there's a great deal to tackle before reaching Rogue One. For example, we've yet to see Cassian's first meeting with his loyal former Imperial droid, K-2So (played by Alan Tudyk).
"I fully know how how long you've waited for this. I know how long you've waited," Gilroy told Entertainment Weekly (via SFFGazette.com). "I have my reasons for doing it.
