Nadia Teichmann (Ice Nine Kills Presents: Welcome to Horrorwood), Russell Todd (Chopping Mall), LeeAnna Vamp (Ghosted), Jose Mangin (Ice Nine Kills: A Work of Art), Elle Fox (Little Bites) and Derek ‘Flash Garments’ Shaw (Lord Have Mercy II) have joined Matthew Hersh’s directorial debut.

The film follows follows genre actor Catherine Corcoran as a young and ambitious news reporter Diane Winters and her cameraman (Justin Miles), who uncover a mysterious series of gruesome murders that unfold throughout the course of a chaotic and violent day, and become players in the sinister situation along the way. Each segment showcases one of the crime scenes and explores horror subgenres along the way.

Production is underway in Hungary on Laszlo Illes’s horror Ever After, starring Malcolm McDowell.

Written by Hungarian filmmaker Illes with Laszlo Krisztian Gera, the film depicts a group of women celebrating a bachelorette party in an isolated forest cabin, who are confronted by bloodthirsty lunatics who believe they are classic fairy tale characters.

McDowell plays The Frog King, with Bonnie Aarons as The Witch, Michael Berryman as The Hunstman, Kane Hodder as The Big Bad Wolf and Mark Sheppard as The Ringmaster.

Illes is producing the film for US firm Intergalactic Pictures, with Roy McClurg, Fahd Habeeb, Jeremy Hirsch and Marci Matthews.

A theatrical release date for Spider One's upcoming horror flick Little Bites has been set. Rlje Films and Shudder have acquired worldwide rights to the film, and Rlje has decided to set a release in theaters for Oct. 4, 2024. The movie will also be available to stream on Shudder at a later date.

We first learned of Little Bites back in June 2023 when it was announced that mother-and-son duo Cher and Chaz Bono would be coming together to executive produce it. Spider One was revealed to be writing the script and would also be directing, with OneFox Productions producing.

Besides being an executive producer, Bono also stars in the horror flick. The plot revolves around a widower and mother who, to protect her daughter from a flesh-eating monster, sacrifices her own body by letting the creature feed off of her. Meanwhile, she keeps her daughter hidden far away at her grandmother’s.

Richard Brake, Jim Cummings, and Jocelin Donahue star in the story about a traveling knife salesman stranded at an isolated rest stop who unwittingly walks into a violent hostage situation. Well Go USA holds North American rights.

When the opening scene ended with a pretty cool and gory death, in what was a traditional but fun slasher film build-up, my hopes were kind of high. It feels like we have had very few new slasher movie villains to get excited about. Of course, Michael Myers, Chucky, Ghostface and more are still going strong but other than Art the Clown in the Terrifier franchise, no one seems to have lasted for more than one movie in more recent times. So when Randy Couture is standing tall as Hank, giant axe in hand, things were looking up. But the movie doesn’t quite pan out the way I was expecting.

The Bell Keeper follows a group of friends, including two brothers, who travel to a campsite at Lake Bell.

Sydney Sweeney‘s second film of 2024 is finally here, let’s hope that it doesn’t turn into a disaster like the first one. Produced by Sweeney herself, Immaculate is a psychological horror film and it follows the story of a young nun who joins a convent in the Italian countryside. Her quiet life quickly turns into a nightmare because of the horrific secrets hidden in the convent. Directed by Michael Mohan, Immaculate also stars Simona Tabasco, Benedetta Porcaroli, and Álvaro Morte. So, if you loved Sweeney’s horror film here are some similar movies you should check out next.

The Convent

Co-written and directed by Paul Hyett, the 2018 film British horror film titled The Convent gives a similar atmosphere to Sweeney’s Immaculate. The Convent tells us the story of a group of young women seeking refuge from the turmoil of World War II in an isolated convent in the countryside.

Of all the masters of horror that helped to reshape the genre as we know it in the ’70s and ’80s, none were more successful in branching out and achieving commercial success within the studio system than Sam Raimi. His Spider-Man trilogy laid the groundwork for the influx of comic book movies that would follow, but he was eager to return to his roots following the third installment’s turbulent production.

Armed with $30 million and complete creative control, Raimi dusted off a story he wrote with elder brother and frequent collaborator Ivan Raimi back in the ’90s to make his triumphant return to horror with Drag Me to Hell in 2009. The Raimi broters seemingly drew inspiration from 1957’s Night of the Demon but injected it with a heavy dose of Evil Dead DNA, most closely evoking Evil Dead 2‘s cartoonish blend of over-the-top splatter and tongue-in-cheek humor.

Less than one month after being released in theaters, the horror-comedy Lisa Frankenstein is now available at home. You can own or rent the film on Digital starting today.

Directed by Zelda Williams and written by Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body), Lisa Frankenstein first dug up someone special in movie theaters nationwide on February 9.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “Billed as a coming-of-rage tale, Lisa Frankenstein instead offers a celebration of outcasts and weirdos.”

The classless practice of traumatic profiteering is alive and well in Thomas Walton’s micro-budget slasher Camp Pleasant Lake. We’ve become a society obsessed with gnarly true crime documentaries and podcasts, lifting infamous serial killers to celebrity status. As superfans once wrote letters to Charles Manson in prison, studios now churn out streaming programs about despicable icons like Bundy and Dahmer to capitalize on trending viewership. Camp Pleasant Lake is an intriguing commentary on selling someone else’s grief and loss for your next payday, but at no point does Walton’s execution do his “Horror LARPing” concept justice.

The film takes place at Camp Echo Lake, where new owners Rick (Michael Paré) and Darlene Rutherford (Maritza Brikisak) have reopened as an immersive Halloween experience. For $10,000, attendees are treated to “Camp of Terror,” an all-inclusive murder party that ties back to a horrible crime committed on the grounds 20 years prior.

Brett Wagner, who donned the Leatherface in the 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre before suffering from heat stroke during the production, will also be among the celebrity guests. The Conjuring universe hasn’t been exorcised of its popularity, not if the box office numbers have anything to say about it. The latest installment, this year's The Nun II, reached a milestone, earning over $250 million worldwide, surpassing the $206 million that The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It took in. Valak’s (Bonnie Aarons) second spin-off might have been more successful, but everyone still wants more of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. They were either bonafide demon-fighting badasses or a married couple who threw holy water onto several severely mentally ill people throughout their careers, depending on your beliefs in the occult. What no one expected them to be, though, were box office giants.

Depending on who you talk to, spooky season extends far beyond October 31, and to keep that haunting atmosphere going this month Warner Bros. is set to release The Nun II on 4K Uhd on Blu-ray and DVD on November 14. It's a wonder that horror filmmakers don't scare themselves senseless all the time.
