Essence Atkins said the opportunity to star in CBS’ new sitcom “Poppa’s House” alongside Damon Wayans Sr. completed her nearly 30-year-long career working with the iconic Wayans family.

“It was Damon. I never worked with Senior before; I worked with [Damon Wayans] Junior on ‘Dance Flick.’ I had worked with basically with the entire [first] generation,” Atkins told TheWrap of her decision to sign on for the series. “Like, everybody but Damon, who is iconic and amazing and has done such incredible pioneering work in the realm of comedy, and so I just felt like he was my last frontier in this family. I was like, ‘I got to work with Damon.'”

During the premiere episode of her new reality show Tia Mowry: My Next Act on Friday (Oct. 5), the 46-year-old Sister, Sister actress revealed how old she was when she lost her virginity to now ex-husband Cory Hardrict.

Larry Wilmore, who executive produces Hulu-Onyx Collective’s hit legal drama “Reasonable Doubt,” said Season 2’s new cast addition Morris Chestnut was a fan prior to joining the series and wanted to be part of it.

“He actually expressed how much he loved the show, and when we approached him, wanted to be a part of it, and he just made it work,” Wilmore shared as he opened up about how much fans and some celebs enjoy the series. “So it’s fun to have that, that people feel about that, because you don’t know when you’re doing it. People might hate it, you have no idea, so it’s nice to have that.”

“Reasonable Doubt” Season 2 is headed back into the courtroom, and the cast, as well as the slew of new additions are ready to put it in session.

It’s been a minute since Season 1 of “Reasonable Doubt,” and between Jax getting kidnapped by a deranged client-turned-lover and her bestie Shanelle (Shannon Kane) seemingly murdering her husband, there’s no telling what’s about to go down in Season 2. New CBS comedy Poppa’s House, which stars Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., is shifting its focus to make it more of a family show.

Wayans plays a legendary talk radio host in the series, which premieres on October 21 at 8:30pm, but will now become a podcaster to allow the comedy to more centered at home, rather than at a radio station.

Showrunner Dean Lorey, speaking at the TCA press tour, “We’re making a couple of shifts in the show. We did a show called Poppa’s House so we want to see more of Poppa’s House, we want that to be very much the center of the show. So in the season, we’re going to see Poppa make a shift from the radio station to doing a podcast at home. That will allow us to bring the life of the family more into the show and gets...

Three actors are joining the cast of Reasonable Doubt for season two. Essence Atkins (First Wives Club), Melissa Ponzio (Chicago Fire), and Vaughn W. Hebron (Tyler Perry's The Oval) will all have recurring roles on the Hulu drama series.

The Reasonable Doubt series, which stars Emayatzy Corinealdi (above), Morris Chestnut, McKinley Freeman, Tim Jo, Angela Grovey, Aderinsola Olabode, and Thaddeus J. Mixson, follows a Los Angeles criminal defense attorney (Corinealdi) as she copes with past traumas, a failing marriage, motherhood, and a murder case.

Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan will continue his quest for fame: Nickelodeon has renewed the multi-cam sitcom for a 13-episode Season 5, our sister site Variety reports.

The series follows “a family whose world is turned upside down when their nephew, Young Dylan (played by Dylan Gilmer), an aspiring hip-hop star, moves in unannounced,” reads the official synopsis. In Season 5 — premiering later this year with a holiday episode — Dylan and his cousin Rebecca (Celina Smith) “try to expand their fledgling hip-hop record label, while the whole Wilson family tries to deal with Dylan’s mogul dreams,” per Nickelodeon.

After forty years in the entertainment industry, audiences are still eager for more from the hilarious mind of Damon Wayans, and it looks like he's bringing his son along for the ride this time as well.

It's not all that surprising since the Wayans are known for keeping their projects close to the chest and close to home, with Damon often collaborating with his brothers Shawn and Marlon.

Due to a complex series of anthropological mishaps, the Wayans Brothers are a huge deal in Brazil. Around these parts, White Chicks is considered a national treasure by a lot of people, so it stands to reason that Brazilian audiences would continue to accompany the Wayans’ comedic output long after North America had stopped taking them seriously as comedic titans.

This is the only reason why I originally watched Michael Tiddes and Marlon Wayans’ 2013 horror spoof A Haunted House – appropriately known as “Paranormal Inactivity” in South America – despite having abandoned this kind of movie shortly after the excellent Scary Movie 3.
