After a delay, Family Guy is finally returning, with Season 23 premiering on Sunday Feb. 16, 2025. It will debut at 8 pm Et / Pt, which has long been The Simpsons' time slot, per TheWrap. Rounding out the two-hour block will be Grimsburg Season 2, The Great North Season 5, and Krapopolis Season 2.
The new episode will be a riff on Top Gun, with Peter playing Maverick as he mourns the death of Goose (Joe). His relationship with Charlie (Lois) is explored along with his son, Rooster (Chris). Given Family Guy's winning record with spoofs on beloved movies, expect this one to be a classic.
The show recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, despite being canceled twice since its series premiere on Jan. 31, 1999.
When Does 'The Simpsons' Return?

The 2024 Family Guy holiday special, "The Gift of the White Guy," delivers the same irreverent comedy the show has become known for, with nothing very special about it. That is not to say the episode is bad, it has several laugh-out-loud moments, but in a series with well over 400 episodes, it becomes a challenge just to improve on itself. And with plenty of holiday specials in the past 25 years, this episode doesn't break the mold.

Quick Links The South Park Movie Pushed Boundaries South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut Was Successful Enough to Warrant a Sequel The South Park Feature-Length Specials
25 years ago, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut was unleashed to the masses during the early phases and height of the TV series' popularity. The movie took the TV series' bawdy satirical humor and amplified it to 100 as it tackled censorship, the MPAA, scapegoating, and many other themes that would become South Park's bread and butter. The movie dealt with its share of issues during production, mostly with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone's fights with the MPAA over its content, but when it was all said and done, the South Park movie became a critical and financial success, even going on to earn an Academy Award nomination.

South Park has never shied away from poking fun at politics, having spoofed presidential elections several times in the past. However, fans shouldn't expect Matt Stone and Trey Parker to do the same in 2024.
Per Vanity Fair, Stone and Parker confirmed that they won't be satirizing the U.S. presidential election. Parker explained how it's difficult to spoof such an important election, admitting that he and Stone simply "have less fun" when they've taken on that task previously. With Donald Trump in particular, Parker also believes that South Park has already spent too much time spoofing the former U.S. president, who could potentially reclaim the Oval Office if he wins the election this year.

The hit animated series South Park is known in part for its very unique animation style, though some fans may still wonder how the show's cast of characters might appear in live-action. A new concept trailer imagines how that might turn out, though the casting used isn't exactly realistic.
The concept trailer, created using images and voices generated by artificial intelligence, was posted to YouTube by Multiverse Of AI. It imagines that Seth Rogen is the director of the South Park film while Jonah Hill does a voiceover as Eric Cartman. Of course, given how Hill is now 40 years old, he wouldn't be likely to play Cartman if such a movie were to actually happen anytime soon. The same can be said for many of the other casting picks, which includes imagining other adult actors as the young boys, though the concept trailer still does its job in creating a...

Paramount's celebrating 25 years of South Park with a new release of the 1999 movie, South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. It's interesting to compare the state of comedy and culture then to now. A Sing-a-Long Version adds fun for fans and is available on the new 4K Uhd release, and is in theaters today, June 26. Team America: World Police is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a new release as well.
It's hard to imagine that 25 years have passed since South Park released its sole big screen effort, South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, a title which is both literally accurate and also a penis pun. While it was able to get away with quite a lot in its late-night slot on Comedy Central, the confines of cable meant that creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone couldn't do or say certain things. The theatrical release gave them the opportunity to get as indulgent as they'd like,...

Sing along to the hilarious musical numbers in South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut when it comes to theaters for its 25th anniversary. The film cleverly tackled censorship, movie musicals, and the MPAA while becoming a fan and critical hit in 1999. Join Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny in their R-rated movie adventure to save Terrance and Phillip in this satirical animated comedy.
Many say that 1999 is one of the greatest years for movies and one of the most talked about releases of that year was South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut, the film adaptation of the popular adult animated sitcom that began offending and entertaining audiences in 1997. The movie expanded on the TV series' irreverent humor, dialed it up to ten, and managed to become a hit with fans and critics alike for pulling zero punches. The television industry has covered a range of genres and formats since the earliest serialized stories were produced for home audiences. As the industry has grown, more ground has been covered, and the range of stories told has only become more diverse. Many of these series will revolve around a core cast of characters, at the heart of which is almost always a heartfelt, entertaining, and relatable friendship.
Friendships often become the most compelling part of a TV series, and can range from will they/won't they potential romances to buddy cop situations. While romances can also maintain interest in a show, a good, well-crafted friendship can build a dedicated, passionate fan base. Finding great chemistry between actors and characters is key to the success of these friendships, and many hold the love of fans for years after their series' conclusions.

One of the strengths found in Batman: The Animated Series is its compassion for heroes and villains alike. In this series, inspired by the success of Tim Burton’s 1989 feature film, writers and animators alike brought a more adult, more mature approach to the stories, rewriting the rules for children’s animated fare.
In time, this gave them license to explore larger themes through direct-to-video films achieving mostly successes. Overlooked until now, is Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, released this week by Warner archive for the first time on Blu-ray. Written by Randy Rogel and Boyd Kirkland and directed by Kirkland, they build on the tragedy of Victor Fries.
The origin of Mr. Freeze was presented in “Heart of Ice”, written by Paul Dini and directed by Bruce Timm, explaining the accident that forced him to live in a cold suit and what twisted his mind.

The saying goes: If Hollywood is really the movie capital of the world, then Oscar night is the world’s biggest wrap party, and like all parties, each event comes with unwelcome guests, embarrassing situations, strange fashions and controversial moments. In fact, controversy and the Oscars seem to go hand in hand and despite the fact that the Academy Awards are, for the most part, an elegant and tightly controlled affair, some very strange things do occur. Let’s take a look back through the history of the Academy Awards, and some of it’s strangest and more controversial moments – which sadly were also the most memorable.
