Former Doctor Who star Freema Agyeman has revealed why a return for her character Martha Jones was scrapped. Martha was the Tenth Doctor's main companion in Doctor Who's third season, where she traveled the world amassing forces to help free humanity from The Master's enslavement.
Martha was then brought back as part of an all-star team of former Doctor Who companions in season four's two part finale, where Ten (David Tennant) and Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) called all of their friends together to fight off a Dalek invasion of earth. These episodes saw Martha seemingly being recruited by Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) to join his black-ops team, though full-time appearances in the Torchwood spinoff series never materialized.

The final episode of Jodie Whittaker's run as the Thirteenth Doctor on Doctor Who featured several cameos from across time and space. "Power of the Doctor" celebrated many milestones for the BBC. Not only was it marking the 100th Anniversary of the BBC, but it was also the 300th televised Doctor Who story. To honor all of that, Chris Chibnall, showrunner at the time, pulled out the big guns, gathering together past companions, as the current ones, Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Dan Lewis (John Bishop) said their goodbyes. A companion support group was featured in the episode, bringing together past companions of the Doctor, all the way back to William Hartnell's tenure.

Warning: spoilers ahead for Doctor Who's "Joy to the World."
Ruby Sunday's brief return to Doctor Who gives an idea of what the future has in store for Millie Gibson's character. Debuting in 2023's Christmas special, "The Church on Ruby Road," Ruby Sunday served as the sole companion opposite Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor throughout Doctor Who season 14. Given how much mystery was woven around the identity of Ruby Sunday's mother, Doctor Who looked deeply invested in its new companion, but surprise reports later claimed Gibson would be replaced by Varada Sethu for Doctor Who season 15.
Sure enough, Doctor Who season 14 ended with Ruby exiting the Tardis after reuniting with her long-lost mother. 2024's Christmas special, "Joy to the World," finds the Fifteenth Doctor operating alone, solemnly preoccupied with thoughts of Ruby - making two drinks instead of one, staring longingly at the telephone, etc. - throughout the episode.

If it weren't for bad luck, some movies, like people, wouldn't have any luck at all. One such movie (of notably recent vintage) is the Natalie Portman-produced and starring Western Jane Got a Gun. The production seemed cursed from the beginning. Directors dropped in and out. Bonafide movie stars signed on, only to then bow out at the last second.
Natalie Portman tried desperately hard to save Jane Got a Gun from falling apart. She succeeded. However, the film's financial backer, Relativity, went bankrupt before the film could reach its release date, leading to the ever-controversial (and monstrous) Harvey Weinstein stepping in and overseeing the film's theatrical exhibition. When the film finally saw release came the worst news of all: a total and complete box office failure so bad that the movie almost didn't cross the $1 million mark in North America.

Alongside being one of the longest-running sci-fi shows on the planet, Doctor Who is often regarded as a drama. Complete with an array of fearsome monsters and life-or-death situations; it's no wonder the show has had fans on the edge of their seats for over 60 years. Not to mention, it never hesitates to pull on audiences' heartstrings with its tear-jerking farewells.
But when Doctor Who isn't making generations of fans hide behind the sofa, it's usually making them laugh. Since the 2005 reboot, the show has focused on adding a few more comedic moments, especially when it comes to its all-star cast like Catherine Tate and John Bishop. As such, it seems that modern Doctor Who wouldn't be the same without its wittier moments.

The new series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has arrived on Paramount+, expanding the world that was introduced in 2023's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Featuring a more traditional 2D art style, the series bridges the gap between Mutant Mayhem and its upcoming movie sequel.
Per Collider, the series was addressed in a new interview with showrunners Christopher Yost and Alan Wan. They spoke about Bishop, the show's main villain, who debuts with Alanna Ubach voicing the role. The Agent Bishop character has traditionally been depicted as male in Tmnt projects, but the villain has been redesigned for Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which includes a change in gender. Yost and Wan suggested that the original version of Bishop wouldn't fit in well with their series, so the choice was made to do something that hans haven't seen before with the character.

Paramount+’s new animated series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continues the adventures of the turtle brothers in New York City. Following the events from the Tmnt: Mutant Mayhem film released in 2023, the 12-episodes series has the turtles having to heroically save their city once again when a horde of evil robots plan to take over. The show interestingly follows a different plot in the second half of it, though, and we are introduced to the villainous East River Three, another mutant team intending to wreak havoc in the city. Overall, the hand-drawn animation style and presentation make the series quite an interesting and nostalgic watch, although its plot does not present anything unique.
Spoiler Alert
What is the animated series about?
Tales of the Tnmt begins on a regular day inside the sewers of New York, where Leonardo is busy drawing a comic strip about himself and his three brothers.

Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill are back as the Thirteenth Doctor and Yasmin Khan for a series of Doctor Who audio advenures for Big Finish.

Emily Blunt is getting ahead of a potential scandal by telling People magazine she is “appalled” about a September 2012 appearance on the UK’s “Jonathan Ross Show” in which she called a waiter “enormous.” The actor was promoting her role in Rian Johnson’s “Looper” at the time. A clip of Blunt calling the waiter “enormous” must’ve begun circulating online, as the actor issued a statement to People in which she apologized for her language.

Doctor Who success relies on casting the right Doctor and developing a strong dynamic with their companion. A single companion setup allows for a more personal relationship with the Doctor and greater depth for the companion's character. Modern Doctor Who companions require more layers, emotional depth, and character growth, making it difficult to achieve with multiple companions.

Although Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie could serve as an ending for the series, it also set up several storylines for a Rottmnt season 3. The show began as a Nickelodeon television series in 2018 and it not only gave the turtles more unique character designs, but special mystic powers. When Rise of the Tmnt premiered, it was meant to last for three seasons. However, low toy sales paired with poor marketing caused Nickelodeon to cancel season 3 and cut season 2 in half. To formally end the series, Rise of the Tmnt: The Movie moved from television to streaming on Netflix.
However, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was never officially canceled, only paused. Due to this, many fans still hope that Rise of the Tmnt could be renewed based on the success of Netflix’s Tmnt movie. Evidently, Rise of the Tmnt’s creators are hopeful too...

A man who went out on a birthday bar crawl dressed as Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings was stunned when he ran into none other than Sir Ian McKellen.
The 83-year-old thespian famously portrayed the sage wizard in Peter Jackson’s hit trilogy of film adaptations, later reprising the role for the director’s Hobbit trilogy.
The serendipitious meeting occurred on 13 April when Ben Coyles, a 22-year-old music student, was out celebrating his birthday on the streets of Bristol.
McKellen was in the city as part of the touring production of the pantomime Mother Goose. The show, which also starred comedian John Bishop, has just concluded a 145-date nationwide tour.
“So it was really bizarre, it was my 22nd birthday, and we were on a pub crawl,” the reveller recalled, per Bristol Post.

Paul O’Grady has expressed his “disappointment” with BBC Radio 2, saying “it’s not what it was”.
The broadcaster’s comments come after the news that veteran DJ Ken Bruce was leaving the station after 45 years to go to Greatest Hits Radio.
InJanuary, when Bruce announced his departure, former Radio 2 DJ Vanessa feltz accused the BBC of “ageism”.
Now, O’Grady, who left Radio 2 in 2021 after being asked to share his slot with comedian Rob Beckett, has explained the motivation behind his decision.
“I was disappointed, because I’m a great believer in continuity,” he told Metro.co.uk, adding: “If you go off for 13 weeks and somebody else comes on, the listeners don’t know when you’re back on.”
He continued: “Radio 2 has changed; it’s not what it was. They’re trying to aim for a much younger audience, which doesn’t make sense because you’ve got Radio 1.

Now, a week later on Monday (27 February), in a statement shared with ABC News, the Panettiere family opened up about his death.
“Jansen’s heart could be seen in his eyes, and his charm in his brilliant, engaging smile; his soul in his masterful and revealing paintings, and the joy of life in his dry wit,” they wrote in a joint statement.

Jeremy Clarkson’s controversial column about the Duchess of Sussex will be investigated by press regulator Ipso.
In December, Clarkson published a column in which he wrote that he hated Meghan on a “cellular level”.
Following a huge backlash, Clarkson apologised and later said that he had reached out to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over the article. However, Harry and Meghan issued their own statement claiming that Clarkson had only apologised to Harry.
On Thursday, the Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) announced that it had launched an investigation into Clarkson’s article after receiving more than 25,100 complaints. It is Ipso’s most complained-about article ever.
The press watchdog said that they were taking forward two complaints by The Fawcett Society and The Wilde Foundation.
The complaints claimed that Clarkson’s article breached Clause 1 (Accuracy), Clause 3 (Harassment) and Clause 12 (Discrimination) of the Ipso code.

This show has been a fixture of UK television for a long time and, despite any fluctuations in the ratings, it's not going anywhere. We know it won't be cancelled right now since we already know that Russell T Davies has been hired as showrunner for season 14. Is Doctor Who sure to be renewed beyond next season? Stay tuned.
A BBC America science-fiction drama, the 13th season of the Doctor Who revival stars Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, an alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor travels through time and space in the Tardis, which appears to be a British police box on the outside, with traveling companions Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Dan Lewis (John Bishop). Jacob Anderson recurs. Guest stars in season 13 include Robert Bathurst, Thaddea Graham, Blake Harrison, Kevin McNally,...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the Doctor Who Centenary Special, The Power of the Doctor.Jodie Whittaker's final Doctor Who episode failed to give one companion a proper farewell. The feature-length special had a lot to juggle - the Thirteenth Doctor's regeneration, the departures of both Yaz and Dan from the Tardis, and the returns of classic series companions Tegan and Ace. Unfortunately, this meant that the departure of Dan Lewis (John Bishop) from the Tardis ended up as being quite abrupt, leaving before the Thirteenth Doctor's final story properly kicked in.
The reasons Dan gives for his farewell certainly make sense - after being shot by a Cyberman, he almost died. Believing that he's pushing his luck too far, Dan decides to return to Earth, saying goodbyes to the Doctor and Yaz before they're both summoned to Unit. It's an abrupt way to get rid of the Dan,...

This article contains spoilers for the Doctor Who Centenary Special, The Power of the Doctor.
In their final episode, Doctor Who failed the romance subplot between the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and her companion Yaz (Mandip Gill). The Doctor Who Centenary Special, "The Power of the Doctor," almost completely ignores the romance that has been blooming between the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz, in favor of an abundance of action scenes and a plethora of fan service. While the action sequences are fun and the appearances from many classic Doctors and companions are more than welcome, the Doctor Who Centenary Special's ending for the relationship between Yaz and the Thirteenth Doctor is disappointing and lacking in closure.

The best way to describe Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker's era of "Doctor Who" is "stuff happened." And in the centenary special "The Power of the Doctor," which served as Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor swan song, stuff certainly happened. Was any of that stuff emotionally, narratively, or thematically resonant? Well, that's another story.
Jodie Whittaker's run as the first female Doctor in "Doctor Who" history has been mired in clunky writing, nonsensical plots, half-realized characters, and empty spectacle — which on the surface, sounds par for the course for a show as silly and weird as "Doctor Who." But it's been missing the heart that made those kinds of quirks bearable, and as a result — despite some genuine bright spots through this four-year run — has felt like a chore to watch more than anything. And Whittaker's final episode as the Thirteenth Doctor certainly felt like a laundry list of fan...

Warning! Spoilers for "The Power of the Doctor"Jodie Whittaker's final episode of Doctor Who has seen the surprising return of many old faces, who form a companion's support group in the closing scenes. The Thirteenth Doctor's finale was a feature-length special that celebrated 100 years of the BBC and 60 years of Doctor Who itself. When the Master (Sacha Dhawan) succeeded in his plot to erase the Doctor from existence, the Thirteenth Doctor was helped by her past incarnations, Yaz (Mandip Gill), Vinder (Jacob Anderson), Tegan (Janet Fielding), Ace (Sophie Aldred), and Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave).
These returning companions from the Doctor's past had been previously confirmed, but there were still some big surprises saved until the very end of the episode. When Yaz leaves the Tardis for the last time, she's met by her old friends Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Dan (John Bishop), who take her to a very special meeting.

Here we are again, then. Doesn’t seem like five minutes since Easter, does it? I swear I’ve still got half a chocolate rabbit in the fridge… But time trundles on, and we’re here to bid goodbye to Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor after what feels like an oddly-fleeting tenure in the Tardis.

But then, both Capaldi and Matt Smith’s Doctors went through a number of evolutions in their time, with marked shifts in their personalities as companions came and went. We glimpsed Eleven’s decades on Trenzalore and Twelve’s exile in his confession dial, watching those Doctors grow old and weary. Ready for their end.

The end is near for Jodie Whitaker’s run on “Doctor Who,” as the BBC announced that the Thirteenth Doctor’s final episode, “The Power of the Doctor,” will air on Oct. 23 as a new trailer was released.
As has been customary for “Doctor Who” since it was revived in 2005, the regeneration of the Doctor into a new face as the role is passed from one actor to another is coming with a massive adventure filled with all of the series’ most famous adversaries. We, of course, have the Doctor’s famous archrival, The Master (Sacha Dhawan) telling her that this is the day that she is “erased forever,” but we also have the Daleks and Cybermen menacing the universe as well.

Jodie Whittaker could depart iconic BBC science fiction series “Doctor Who,” according to a report in U.K. tabloid Daily Mirror.
The Mirror reports that the actor’s departure is being kept under wraps, but is an open secret on set. Whittaker is the 13th actor and the first woman to play the beloved British character.
“We won’t be commenting on any speculation around Jodie’s future on the show,” a BBC spokesperson told Variety.
Variety has also reached out to Whittaker’s reps for comment, but didn’t receive a response by press time.
A departure for Whittaker after three seasons wouldn’t be hugely out of the ordinary: this has been the practice for most actors playing the Doctor in the show’s recent seasons.
The Mirror report also states that Whittaker’s co-stars Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole are set to leave the show, but that showrunner Chris Chibnall will remain.

Doctor Who returned for a one-off special this New Year’s Day and, while there was a lot of fun to be had from the inclusion of John Barrowman’s Captain Jack and a Dalek civil war, “Revolution of the Daleks” ended on a heartbreaking note as not one, but two of the Thirteenth Doctor’s best friends left the show. As we knew going into the episode, both Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) exited the Tardis, breaking up the Time Lord’s so-called “fam” that has been at the heart of the series since 2018.
Though they weren’t killed, pulled into a parallel universe or had their memories wiped like some of the most devastating companion exits of the past, fans got pretty teary by the time the credits were rolling. Ryan was the one who first decided to leave, having realized that he could do more good on Earth,...

Whovians got to kick off the New Year in the best possible way today as Doctor Who returned for a one-off winter special. Unlike last year, this new episode isn’t kickstarting a new season, but there is one in the works. Season 13 has been filming for the past couple of months, while fully complying with Covid safety guidelines, in the UK. And star Jodie Whittaker shared a special New Year’s message to her fans while busy on set.
The official Doctor Who social media accounts posted the message from the Doctor herself on December 31st. The actress features in her iconic costume as the thirteenth incarnation of the Time Lord, though she doesn’t act in character for the short video. “Just want to wish everyone a happy new year from everyone at Doctor Who,” a cheery Whittaker says in the message, “and sending love and luck for...

The world’s had a heck of a time of it since the Doctor was last on our screens. In the season 12 finale – which aired on March 1st, 2020 – Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord was thrown in space prison by the Judoon. And later that same month, we were all imprisoned ourselves as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold and plunged the world into quarantine. But in the Doctor Who New Year’s special, our heroine escapes her bonds. Unfortunately, we’re not quite out of the woods yet ourselves, but “Revolution of the Daleks” still provided a much needed home visit from the Doctor.
Filmed a long time ago in the far away land of 2019, “Revolution” presents us with a stuffed belated Christmas package. Connecting back to the last New Year’s special, it features the rebirth of the Daleks, retooled as Britain’s newest line in security and defense by...
