The Paramount+ series Seal Team recently wrapped its seventh season. Following the series finale, David Boreanaz, who played Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes, addressed his character's fate in the military drama.

Speaking to Variety, Boreanaz revealed that the creative team had contemplated killing Jason. "We played with the idea in one season where he is taking more of a command in the Havoc [control] room and trying to feel what that would feel like," the actor said. "Personally, for me to put the character in that situation, I didn't feel that it made sense. I think it would be more awkward and a little bit more fish out of water. I mean, Master Chief wouldn't really be a fish out of water, but for that situation it'd be boring."

In an interview with Collider to promote the final season of Seal Team, Boreanaz opened up about his decision to end the show after its seventh season, explaining that he "decided to end the show the way I wanted to end the show with the character. It was over for me. I knew that, and thats what I expressed to them. I was like, 'Im done, both physically and mentally.'" Seal Team Season 7 Episode 3 placed too much focus on Drew, and it’s going to take too long to get to know him for me to care that much about his family issues.

At least the end is still in sight as both Ray and Jason fight inside themselves about what their futures hold.

This kind of “toxic masculinity,” to use a turn of phrase I really don’t like, does grate on my nerves.

It’s only been three episodes and I’m already done with the idea an independent like Drew would have lasted this long in the military.

When news broke that Seal Team would end with its seventh season, it wasn’t too much of a surprise.

The CBS-turned-Paramount+ drama has been slowly preparing for the end of its run over the last few seasons, with the character arcs slowly but surely reaching their final stages.

Paramount+ shared the first two episodes of Seal Team Season 7 with critics ahead of its launch, and it’s fair to say that these installments have a sense of finality.

While watching Fire Country, I cannot help but wonder if the series will have a reunion between Max Thieriot and Aj Buckley. The two of them starred in the military drama series Seal Team with an extraordinary onscreen friendship. For six seasons, they took on some of the most dangerous missions together and seemed unstoppable. However, that turned out not to be the case. Clay Spenser (Thieriot) tragically and heartbreakingly dies in season 6, while Buckley's Sonny Quinn lives on. With season 3 of Fire Country releasing soon, there is a chance the two actors may reunite onscreen.

The seventh and final season of Seal Team arrives following a lengthy post-sixth season hiatus, partly caused by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023. The long-awaited Seal Team Season 7 will arrive on Paramount+ on August 11, 2024. Paramount+ announced Seal Team's Season 7 renewal on January 18, 2023, and revealed the following November that the installment would be the series' last. Seal Team series lead David Boreanaz recently stated that the final episode, written by Spencer Hudnut and directed by Christopher Chulack, will bear the title "The Last Word."

Season 4 of the Gary Oldman-led espionage drama “Slow Horses” will return to Apple TV+ Sept. 4 with a two-episode premiere.
