While we're still waiting on a full trailer, FX recently released some snippets of new footage (see below) for Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth, and we now have a series of short "Secret Transmission" teasers which appear to document the events that lead to the Uscss Maginot crash-landing on Earth.
There are quite a few classic Alien callbacks here, including very familiar computer sounds, garbled transmissions, interiors that look quite a bit like the Nostromo from Ridley Scott's film, and a cat that could very easily pass for Jonesy.
The first clip begins with a crew member fixing a camera to the cat's head, and our new feline friend ends up recording some kind of red alert event that sends the crew into a panic. We also see someone in a cryosleep pod, and we're willing to bet that this guy is just bursting to get off the ship...

The Serpent Queen will not be returning for a third season at Starz, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The news comes a little more than a month after the season two finale aired in August. The Serpent Queen, based on the book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France by Leonie Frieda, is about the life of Catherine de’ Medici, the 16th century Queen of France.
In the second season, Catherine’s grip on power is tested as she faces power struggles, conflicts and betrayals while attempting to unite France. The show, created by Justin Haythe (The Lone Ranger), starred Samantha Morton as Catherine, in addition to Amrita Acharia, Enzo Cilenti, Ruby Bentall, Nicholas Burns, Beth Goddard, Raza Jaffrey and Danny Kirrane.
The Serpent Queen was produced in-house by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment. Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games) and Erwin Stoff (The Matrix) served as executive producers. The...

“The Serpent Queen” has been canceled after Season 2 at Starz.
A spinoff series focused on Queen Elizabeth The First is currently in development at the network as it looks to continue its partnership with “The Serpent Queen” executive producers Erwin Stoff and Justin Haythe.
The 1500s-set series starred Samantha Morton as Catherine de’ Medici, the Queen of France, as she navigates political challenges as a teenager in order to seize control and rule the country for 30 years.
While no casting for the Queen Elizabeth spinoff has been revealed, Minnie Driver guest starred as the British Monarch in Season 2 of “The Serpent Queen.”
Based on the book “Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France” by Leonie Frieda, “The Serpent Queen” also starred Amrita Acharia, Barry Atsma, Enzo Cilenti, Sennia Nanua and Kiruna Stamell. The series used fourth-wall breaks and contemporary music to modernize the Renaissance-era story. The second season of the show,...

Exclusive: Starz is not proceeding with a third season of The Serpent Queen, starring Samantha Morton as Catherine de Medici. But it’s not all bad news for the cast of the historic drama series: I hear their options had been picked up so the actors will be paid for the unproduced Season 3 episodes.
There is also good news for the loyal fans of The Serpent Queen — a spinoff centering on Queen Elizabeth The First is in the works from the same creative team of writer/executive producer Justin Haythe and executive producer Erwin Stoff, sources said. No talent is currently attached, but Minnie Driver guest starred as the British Queen in Season 2 of Serpent Queen and is expected to reprise her role, I hear.

Minnie Driver steals the show as Queen Elizabeth I in the second season of The Serpent Queen, sparking talk of a potential spin-off series, which she would love. Season 2 delves into Catherine de Medici's relationship with her children, introducing conflict and drama alongside Driver's portrayal of Elizabeth I. Expect intense queen-on-queen drama with the emergence of a third powerful female character, played by Isobel Jesper Jones, threatening Catherine's rule.
Oscar-nominated muse Samantha Morton returns as Catherine de Medici in Starzs wickedly fun second season of The Serpent Queen. The Beekeeper is an action-packed thriller that follows the story of Adam Clay, a former special forces operative turned beekeeper, who is caught in a web of deceit and vengeance. The cast is led by Jason Statham in one of his best recent action roles. Supporting stars include Emmy Raver-Lampman and Josh Hutcherson.
The Beekeeper boasts an impressive ensemble cast led by action star Jason Statham, starring as Adam Clay, a former member of the secretive Beekeeper organization. Directed by David Ayer, the action-thriller begins when Clay's close friend falls victim to a phishing scam, prompting him to come out of retirement and seek revenge. As he delves deeper, he uncovers a more sinister plot behind the scammers. Despite its relatively thin plot and character development, The Beekeeper's reviews have praised its expertly staged fight sequences and engaging dynamics, particularly between Clay and Agent Verona Parker.

If you were concerned there wouldn’t be enough unsubtle apiculture metaphors for meting out justice via hellacious ass-whooping in The Beekeeper, you can relax. Even if director David Ayer remains in his usual mode of glowering self-seriousness, whenever Jason Statham snarls about “protecting the hive” or “smoking out the hornets” or “killing the queen,” you get an inkling of how much fun this violent revenge thriller might have been in more playful hands. Still, watching the bullet-headed action star take down squads of government agents and thuggish mercenaries alike, mostly while unarmed, is fun enough. Probably even more so in Imax.
In a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer that’s nothing if not literal, Statham plays Adam Clay, a retired field operative from a top-secret national security force designed to step in and restore order whenever some nefarious criminal situation gets out of hand. Even though he’s no longer a “Beekeeper,...

Almost seven years to the day since it began, we’re about to give a royal wave of farewell to Netflix drama The Crown, but series six might be its most eye-opening yet, as its first part (out on November 16) deals with the events surrounding the tragic death of Princess Diana.
Some critics’ hackles might be up already after the show previously attracted condemnation for historical inaccuracies, so it will be especially interesting to see how the show covers such an emotive and important event in royal history, and just where the story ends when the final episodes are released on 14th December.
Even so, many fans will be disappointed not to see more recent events get The Crown treatment, like that Prince Andrew interview and Harry and Meghan’s very public royal uncoupling, but is it so far beyond the realms of possibility that the show might have a...

It’s turning out to be quite a summer for superspies and supercomputers.
A month after the action feast of “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part I”, in which Tom Cruise faced off with an AI supervillain called “the Entity,” comes a very “Mi”-like international espionage thriller with an equally fancy and powerful machine.
“Heart of Stone” stars Gal Gadot as Rachel Stone, an agent for an elite and clandestine intelligence agency called the Charter. Like “Mission: Impossible”, “Heart of Stone” hits glamorous global destinations and features lengthy actions sequence including a wingsuit skydive.

Tom Harper’s Heart of Stone is a paint-by-numbers global espionage thriller that isn’t done any favors by releasing so soon after Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The film is similar in scope and tone to the most recent Ethan Hunt spy caper but vastly inferior by almost every other measure, especially when it comes to action and characterization.

When the team’s cover is blown, Stone has to navigate the treacherous terrain in the dark, first by parachute and then by motorbike, which the filmmakers turn into a blurry, CGI-heavy eyesore. Netflix tries muscling in on the Mission: Impossible game with the adrenaline-charged spy thriller Heart of Stone, built as a vehicle for Gal Gadot (one of the producers) to swap superheroics for a more earthbound combo of brains, tech savvy, instinct and formidable fight skills. While it’s a few notches up from the Wonder Woman star’s last action romp for the streamer, Red Notice, it feels only marginally less manufactured from the spare parts of other movies. But it gets the job done and is sure to pull solid numbers. It doesn’t hurt that Gadot has appealing chemistry with co-star Jamie Dornan.
The timing seems mildly unfortunate given that the most recent M:i installment, Dead Reckoning, hit theaters only a month ago and also revolves around a risibly named AI mega-brain, “The Entity,” which nefarious forces are angling to control.

Warning: contains spoilers for Luther Series 5.
There are many things that set Luther apart from the plethora of UK prime-time detective shows, but two things, in particular, stand out: shock value, and its willingness to embrace proper horror.
While Luther’s series arcs—his run-ins with other police departments, his bitter feud with gangster George Cornelius (Patrick Malahide), and his twisted relationship with nemesis Alice (Ruth Wilson), to name a few—offer a deep dive into the character and psyche of Idris Elba’s antiheroic cop, it’s the killer-of-the-week plots that really up the fear factor.
Take series two’s Cameron Pell (Lee Ingleby), for example: a sadistic art student turned serial killer who wears a Mr Punch puppet mask and terrorises the streets of London with his trusty machete in the vein of notorious Victorian bogeyman, Spring-Heeled Jack. Or series three baddie Paul Ellis (Kevin Fuller), a fetishistic...

From writer and executive producer Justin Haythe and director and executive producer Stacie Passon (based on the book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France by Leonie Frieda), Starz's latest period drama The Serpent Queen tells the story of one of history's most complex and complicated figures, Catherine de Medici, who ascends in power and status to become one of France's longest-serving rulers. As an orphan, Catherine (Liv Hill) marries into the French court at a young age, but quickly learns that she must counter — and in some instances, outmaneuver — her political opponents, many of whom would rather see her dead than on the throne. What makes the series even more intriguing is that it's Catherine herself (Samantha Morton) telling her own story, in her own words, to her newest maid and confidant Rahima (Sennia Nanua). The upcoming series also stars Colm Meaney, Ludivine Sagnier, Kiruna Stamell, Barry Atsma,...
