What Happened On Beyond The Gates?

At home, Anita (Tamara Tunie) admired old photos when Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) arrived, excited to show her a purse she designed. Anita assumed it was couture, but Chelsea explained that she and Kat (Colby Muhammad) planned to launch a luxury brand.

Chelsea admitted she couldn’t balance both business and modeling. Anita immediately realized Chelsea hadn’t told her mother yet. Chelsea worried she was pulling the rug out from under her “momager,” but Anita reassured her that Dupree women always forged their own paths. If her mother had a dramatic reaction, Anita promised to help bring her back to earth.

After making his daytime television debut last month as an original cast member of the new soap opera “Beyond the Gates,” actor Maurice Johnson is set to exit his role as Dr. Ted Richardson in May, with Keith D. Robinson (“A Million Little Things”) replacing him.

Since news of the casting switch first broke last Friday, Johnson had been reposting and resharing comments by some of the show’s most loyal fans who’ve wondered what may have occurred, if anything in particular, to spur the change.

While the show has not yet addressed any changes to its cast, Johnson did take to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to share that he’s got a little more than 30 episodes left to go before his final episode airs and that he’ll be back on screen as soon as Thursday.

Sure, Dani (Karla Mosley) is certifiably nuts. But that’s Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley’s (Marquita Goings) problem. And Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita’s (Tamara Tunie), too. But for Andre (Sean Freeman), it’s just booty calls and satin sheets. Dani may act crazy. but then Andre can just walk away. There is really no downside for him here.

Spoken For

It’s more complicated with Ashley (Jen Jacobs). She did not appreciate Andre trying to kiss her. He apologized, but now there’s an awkwardness between them.

There is no shortage of naughty boys and girls on Beyond the Gates. There’s Bill, who dumped Dani for Hayley. There’s Hayley, who slept with her best friend’s married daddy. There’s Dani, who… is not taking it well. And then there’s Leslie, who ran Laura off the road on her motorcycle just so she could get Eva into Nicole and Ted’s house. But they’re all kind of run of the mill soap baddies. We’ve seen their types before. We know how to react. This villain, however, caught us off-guard. And we’re not sure how we’re supposed to feel about him.

The Tuesday, March 18 episode of Beyond the Gates wasn’t exactly drama-free, even though Anita and Vernon Dupree had high hopes for a peaceful breakfast.

What Happened On Beyond The Gates?

The Duprees lorded over the dining room at The Fairmont Crest Country Club. They had a family breakfast at their reserved table. The daughters and granddaughters listened to Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) as they retold their origin story as a couple. One that took them from marching in D.C. to a theatre in Chicago.

While Martin (Brandon Clabyon) and Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) busied themselves elsewhere, Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix), Kat (Colby Muhammad), Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla), and Dani (Karla Mosley) were present and accounted for at various times. Other than the Anita/Vernon history lesson, topics of conversation included Kat’s new man and her dissatisfaction with Eva (Ambyr Michelle) wearing her dress to Nicole’s banquet.

The Beyond the Gates recap for Friday, March 14, sees Dani travel to places she shouldn’t while Bill and Hayley are already back from their Italian honeymoon. Plus, Andre and Derek are feeling feelings they have no business feeling. And Kat and Tomas have their date.

What Happened On Beyond The Gates?

Dani (Karla Mosley) did a drive-by at her parents’ house. It was the Dupree Family Dinner night, but she quickly made an excuse to get out of it. Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) was on to her sister, but Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita (Tamara Tunie) gave their daughter the benefit of the doubt. Although, they jokingly didn’t want to claim her, either.

What Dani really did was break into Bill (Timon Durrett) and Hayley’s (Marquita Goings) new home. Thanks to George, the Fairmont Crest Security Guard, she got in despite joking that the gift she was holding was a bomb.

As Nicole’s (Daphnée Duplaix) awards gala approached, the Dupree family braced for media scrutiny, especially since Dani (Karla Mosley) was arrested recently. Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita (Tamara Tunie) had a plan for managing the press.

Unfortunately, Jacob (Jibre Hordges) and Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) were still at odds. Naomi struggled to forgive Jacob for arresting Dani. She felt betrayed. Jacob insisted he had only been doing his job, but Naomi wasn’t convinced.

In the Tuesday, March 11 episode of Beyond the Gates, Bill went on the offensive. He set up a press conference, which happened to coincide with Nicole’s local interview about her upcoming award. Thankfully, Nicole doesn’t like the spotlight because Bill’s hatchet job press conference inspired Dani to join the interview with her more humble version of events.

Dueling Press Opportunities

Bill (Timon Durrett) should have listened to Hayley (Marquita Goings). All they needed to do was leave for their honeymoon. They looked like the bigger people for dropping the attempted murder charges against Dani (Karla Mosley). Instead, he set up a press conference and proceeded to skewer Dani’s reputation.

However, his ploy didn’t work because simultaneously, on local TV, Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix), Vernon (Clifton Davis), and Anita (Tamara Tunie) were giving their own interview to a reporter, played by guest star Nischelle Turner, who co-hosts Entertainment Tonight with Kevin Frazier.

Their teamwork strengthened their bond, but Ashley’s mentor later informed Derek about Andre’s presence, sparking jealousy when the new mother took photos with Ashley and Andre.

She accused Eva of wrongdoing, and when Eva denied it, Kat decided to involve Nicole to get to the truth. Eva stood her ground, even when Kat insinuated that she was pleased about Laura’s accident.

Meanwhile, Kat tracked down Nicole, who was in the hospital hallway with Ted (Maurice Johnson)—unaware that Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), in a blonde wig, was watching them from afar while also watching a tribute video on her phone. Leslie seemed to be keeping close tabs on them.
