The 1992 film is the third installment in the Evil Dead franchise, and it follows Ash Williams as he is transported to the Middle Ages and must fight the undead to go back to his time.

A few years ago, Spooky Pinball LLC created a pinball machine inspired by John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween, and a while back they also built a Texas Chainsaw Massacre pinball machine, inspired by Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic. By the looks of it, iconic horror legend Bruce Campbell is fated to play Ash Williams yet again in other iterations of The Evil Dead. During an interview with MovieWeb about his upcoming role in Peacocks bone-chilling fright fest, Hysteria!, Campbell was candid about whether hed ever play Ash again in some iteration should the film's original director, Sam Raimi, take on the project.

We can't hide the movies anymore, Campbell mused. The last one we made [2023s Evil Dead Rise] made the most of any Evil Dead movie, so we'd be silly to stop now. So, we've got two more in the pipeline and a possible animated series as well.

Its the latter that currently has the internet buzzing as Campbell has admitted that hed happily lend his voice to the endeavor, adding:

George A. Romero is considered by many to be the Godfather of the horror movie monster, zombies. Though the term was used before, it was not until Night of the Living Dead in 1968 that it began to take shape in the way many know it today. Some of the film industry's best careers have been built through the horror genre, whether it's iconic actors getting their big break as monsters or directors revitalizing their careers there. Many of the genre's greatest films come from the older days of Hollywood, and they have endured as the masterpieces that they are.

Fans can expect not one, but two new Evil Dead spin-off films with directors sharing their love for the franchise. Director Francis Galluppi reveals how the original Evil Dead inspired him to pursue filmmaking as fun and attainable. It was heartbreaking when the copyright dispute between original Friday the 13th producer/director Sean S. Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller came up and brought any further development of the extremely cool Friday the 13th video game to a screeching halt. Now here’s another franchise video game heartbreaker: the folks at Saber Interactive have announced that they won’t be developing any new content for Evil Dead: The Game, and plans to bring the game to Nintendo Switch have been abandoned.

No information was given on exactly why Saber had decided to set aside any further development of the game. It would be odd if there are licensing issues, because the rights to the overall Evil Dead franchise seem to be rather clear cut: they’re owned by franchise creator Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert, and star Bruce Campbell.

In keeping with the "Evil Dead" theme in preparation for "Evil Dead Rise" on April 21, let's return to where it all began. Sam Raimi's "The Evil Dead" is an infamous video nasty that started one of horror's most beloved franchises. Between the original trilogy, Fede Álvarez's requel, and "Ash vs Evil Dead," there's something for everyone starting with a low-budget darling that held nothing back. It's grotesque, unbelievably scrappy, and inventive in the face of financial shortcomings. "The Evil Dead" is a miracle, so let's treat it like one.

"The Evil Dead" is Raimi's first and least comedic of the original trilogy. Practical effects can be more traumatizing than blending over-the-top humor and extravagant goriness.

The "Evil Dead" trilogy is not particularly renowned for its strict continuity. Quite the contrary, actually — the three films, "The Evil Dead," "Evil Dead II," and "Army of Darkness," employ some notably loose connective tissue between each movie.

Some of this is due to the shifting creative approach, as the first film's ultimate experience in grueling terror morphs into the sequel's outrageous slapstick (or perhaps "splatstick" is a better term) before shifting completely into the period adventure comedy of "Army of Darkness." The continuity confusion also infamously stems from the films' production issues, with access to rights for recap footage requiring director Sam Raimi and company to reshoot and reconceive the backstory for each prior entry. There's also the fact that the "rules" Raimi establishes for the Deadites in the first "Evil Dead" are purposely vague, with victims being possessed and un-possessed seemingly at the drop of a hat, for instance.

Just last month, Evil Dead: The Game was updated to add the characters of Mia and David Allen from the 2013 Evil Dead movie. After years of work, Hail to the Deadites has set its world premiere. The upcoming Evil Dead documentary is set to debut at the Fantasia International Film Festival. Like most major events this year, the in-person version of the event has been scrapped in the interest of public health. Instead, the festival will be holding a digital edition that kicks off next month. The long-awaited documentary has been confirmed to be part of the lineup.

Ash is back! Starz announced today the greenlight of the network's next original series, the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The project reteams the original filmmakers, director Sam Raimi, with longtime producing partner Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell.

The Starz Original series officially titled Ash Vs. Evil Dead will be 10 half-hour episodes. Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons - personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its "Evil" grip.

Taking on a classic is a gutsy move, even for an award-winning filmmaker. And when director Kimberly Peirce signed on to re-imagine Stephen King's horror classic "Carrie," about a teenage girl with telekinetic powers hellbent on revenge, she knew she had some sky-high expectations to meet.

Whether you're making a horror, disaster or action movie, a rickety or collapsing bridge is a quick, simple way of introducing added suspense. The wobbly crossing and tumbling walkway is such a familiar movie staple, in fact, that I almost wonder if the writers of Hollywood don't have some sort of patent on the device.

It's seems Sam Raimi and Ghost House Pictures' Rob Tapert are still kicking around the idea of rebooting The Evil Dead. In a recent interview with Freep, the producer was asked about the status of the long-rumored project. Here's what he had to say...

"It's possible; we're looking at a script this month" Tapert said. "What's interesting about Evil Dead, is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. ... I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience."
