Per Deadline, David Magidoff, who played Reed in 10 episodes of the 2021 miniseries Dexter: New Blood,will reprise the role in the newest follow-up series.

After a couple of years of uncertainty, Macon Blair’s adaptation of The Toxic Avenger is finally headed towards general release. Whilst the film did make a brief appearance back in 2023 with a teaser trailer, but the film is reportedly very violent – so violent in fact that it struggled to find a US distributor in 2023. We got a brief teaser for the film, and since then, nothing.

However, Blair is a talented director having helmed the Netflix thriller I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore to very positive notices. Likewise, the film’s star Peter Dinklage has raised the quality bar on many a project too, so hopes were always high that eventually somebody would swoop in to pick up the film for distribution...

For eight seasons and 96 episodes, from 2006 to 2013, the series Dexter ran on Showtime, telling the story of Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who is also a vigilante serial killer. However, the 2024 prequel series Dexter: Original Sin revealed that Dexter survived the shooting and was rushed to the hospital, where the emergency room doctors worked their magic on him. All of Disney’s live-action adaptations ruffle some feathers. Usually, it’s a discussion about art or copyright.

Starring Rachel Zegler as the titular fairy tale princess and Gal Gadot as the Queen, this adaptation will once again retell a Brothers Grimm classic.

Adaptations can often be polarizing. But the controversy surrounding this Snow White has little to do with the story.

Sometimes, discussing a controversy means delving into the heart of a complex issue, or questioning whether we can separate a piece of media from a horrible person who is a part of it. Both of those do come up when discussing this film.

But in this case, the first “controversy” about Snow White is neither.

The first teaser trailer for the superhero dark comedy splatter The Toxic Avengerhas been unveiled. Starring Peter Dinklage as the titular character, the upcoming Toxic Avenger reboot adapts Troma Entertainment's original 1984 movie with a meek janitor, renamed Winston, who transforms into a deformed yet powerful vigilante. Written and directed by Macon Blair, the new version of the satirical superhero horror film also stars Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Kevin Bacon, and Taylour Paige. The film first screened at Fantastic Fest in September 2023 and will now see a broader theatrical release on August 29.

With all the turmoil besetting the real world, you’d think there might be more important things to inflate into controversies than the pre-release kerfuffles that have plagued “Snow White.” As it turns out, this is one of the better live-action adaptations of a Disney animated feature. And I say that as someone who mostly doesn’t like them. Yes, I’ve enjoyed a couple. At heart, though, I still don’t truly get the idea of Disney strip-mining its animated IP — and doing so not because there’s anything inherently appealing about turning painterly fairy-tale cartoons into stilted, less sublime real-life versions of themselves. What the remakes are selling is the theme-park novelty of the transformation: Look, here’s what an animated classic looks like when it’s retrofitted with sets and actors!

All that said, the chirpy, vivacious, just-romantic-enough-to-get-by “Snow White” proves to be an exception to the rule.

The event even featured a first look at the official Halloween mask being released by Trick or Treat Studios this year!

Based on Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger, this upcoming mask from Trick or Treat Studios was developed directly from screen used material, and is anticipated to ship Late 2025.

“The Sopranos” actor Steve Schirripa has joined the cast of “Dexter: Resurrection.”

Variety reports that he’ll play the recurring role of Vinny, a greedy slumlord.

Currently in production in New York, the continuation of “Dexter: New Blood” is expected to premiere this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime.

Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as serial killer Dexter Morgan alongside David Zayas as Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, and James Remar as Harry Morgan.

Peter Dinklage will play the season’s main villain, Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist, with Uma Thurman as Charley, a former Special Ops officer who serves as his right-hand woman.

Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian will guest star. Other newcomers to the franchise include Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusaand, and Emilia Suárez.

Original “Dexter” showrunner Clyde Phillips returns while fellow “Dexter” alumnus Marcos Siega serves as producing director.

As seen in a video posted to X by industry fan page DiscussingFilm, a boat bearing promo materials for The Toxic Avenger was spotted floating down the Chicago River, which was dyed green for St. Patrick's Day. Apart from banners, the boat also featured two performers, one dressed loosely as the Toxic Avenger himself, much to the delight of onlookers.

The new movie stars Peter Dinklage as the Toxic Avenger.

The world premiere of Disney's live-action Snow White movie was held last night (we'll have the first reactions for you a little later on), but the event lacked the glitz and glam we're used to seeing when the Mouse House usually screens a new film for the first time.

Press were not invited to interview the stars on the red carpet in favor of "a more celebratory, family-friendly afternoon event to match the tone and target audience for the film."

The real reason is believed to be at least partially due to "controversies" surrounding leads Rachel Zegler, who has been an outspoken supporter of Palestine and critic of President Donald Trump, and Gal Gadot, who has come to the defence of her home country of Israel. There have also been reports that both actresses didn't really get along while shooting the movie (although this has been disputed).
