Scream 7 started filming at the start of January, and we’ve seen some surprising reports about the slasher sequel as it has made its way through production – with the most surprising and strange news being that Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who played Ghostface killers who were killed off in Scream (1996) and Scream 3, respectively, and David Arquette, whose beloved character Dewey lost his life in Scream (2022), are all in the cast. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Foley admitted that, like many Scream fans, he isn’t sure how his return actually works.
Foley said, with thanks to Deadline for the transcription, “I don’t know how it works out. Spoiler alert! 25 years ago I was the killer in Scream 3 and he was brutally taken to town and killed. And now I’m back in Scream 7 and I’m not sure how it’s going to work.

Scream 3's infamous Ghostface resoundingly met his maker at the hands of Neve Campbell and company in the classic 2000 film, so it came as a surprise to many horror fans when the news broke that Scott Foley would return for director Kevin Williamson’s Scream 7. In fact, Foley himself is as confused as the fandom is when it comes to how his character, Roman Bridger, will return from the dead.
Regardless, the Felicity and Scandal actor tried to coyly answer that burning question during a new interview while appearing on Good Morning America by saying:
"That's a great question, and I'm willing to take a poll here and someone can explain it to me, because I don't know how it works out. Yeah, my character, I was the — Spoiler Alert 25 years ago — I was the killer in 'Scream 3', and he was brutally taken to town and killed.

Scream 7 is set to bring back several dead characters, including Scott Foley's Roman Bridger, much to the confusion of the fandom. Fortunately, Foley is just as confused as the fans over how his Scream 3 killer will return in the slasher sequel.
Foley opened up about his Scream return during a recent appearance on Good Morning America to promote his new role in Will Trent. "I'm willing to take a poll here and someone can explain it to me because I don't know how it works out," said Foley (via Entertainment Weekly). Many villains have worn the Ghostface mask throughout the decades, and The Boys’ star Jack Quaid took a stab at it in 2022 when he played Richie in the legacy sequel, Scream. Although many characters (including some surprising ones) are returning for the upcoming Scream 7, you wouldn't think of Quaid as part of the returning cast. But if classic villains like Stu and Roman have found a way in, couldn't Richie also return? Well, Quaid has now provided the best "non-answer" to this question...

Ghostface will have his/her choice of characters to question about their favorite scary movies when Scream 7 finally hits theaters in February 2026. Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott and Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers are the only two living survivors from director Wes Craven’s 1996 film returning. However, Woodsboro’s masked serial killer will come up against plenty of new blood, too, including the film's newest addition, Landman and 1923’sfan-favorite star, Michelle Randolph.
It’s unclear who Randolph will portray in the latest Scream installment, but she will be rubbing elbows with some of the horror franchise’s crème de la crème. In addition to Campbell and Cox, several other actors from earlier entries are returning for another go-round with Ghostface — even though their respective characters are presumably dead — more on that shortly.
Randolph currently portrays Jack Dutton’s (Darren Mann) wife, Elizabeth Strafford, in 1923, which is the immensely popular...

The cast of the upcoming horror sequel Scream 7 continues to grow. Now, another two names have been revealed as franchise newcomers for the movie.
Per Deadline, it's been announced that Scream 7 has recruited Michelle Randolph (Landman) and Jimmy Tatro (The Real Bros of Simi Valley). Details about their roles have not been disclosed, but either one could potentially be playing the next person to be unmasked as a Ghostface killer, given how that changes with each installment. They could also just as easily be playing two more victims of the Ghostface killer. In any case, all fans can do at this time is speculate with no additional information known about the roles.
Randolph is best known for her breakout role in Landman, the Paramount+ series in which she plays the daughter of Billy Bob Thornton's character. She also has a role in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923. Scream 7...

Scream 7 is well into production, but that doesn’t mean a couple more potential victims (or killers) can’t be added to the cast, as Deadline reports that Michelle Randolph and Jimmy Tatro have signed on.
Randolph has been making big waves as the breakout star of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman, where she plays the daughter of Billy Bob Thornton’s character. She also has a main role in another Sheridan series, 1923. As for Tatro, he’s best known for American Vandal, The Real Bros of Simi Valley, and starring alongside Topher Grace in Home Economics.
The cast of Scream 7 is pretty packed, including plenty of characters from across the franchise. After sitting out the last movie due to a pay dispute, Neve Campbell returns to star as Sidney Prescott. Courteney Cox is also back as Gale Weathers, as is David Arquette as Dewey Riley. Prime Video's hit Reacher is in the middle of its third season. As with the previous seasons, the new outing brings a host of new main characters. One of these is rug importer Zachary Beck, who offers Reacher a job after he saves Beck's son Richard. Beck is played by Anthony Michael Hall, who's enjoyed a nearly 40-year career in the industry.
That's right, Gen-x readers, the 1980s were four decades ago. Take a minute to process that if you need to. Hall was one of that decade's biggest teen stars, with appearances in Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science. Scream 7will somehow bring someone else back from the dead, and it's a name that will please fans...although confusion is bound to be in play regarding how this character returns. With the recent cast additions of Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard, two Ghostface killers who met their demise long ago, at least this return is someone on the side of good.
Per Deadline, David Arquetteis officially returning as Deputy Dewey Riley in Scream 7. No details were revealed about how his character returns and plot details are pretty scarce about the film itself, but director Kevin Williamson and writer Guy Busick better have something pretty brilliant up their sleeves to make this make sense. As fans will remember, Arquette's Dewey Riley was taken out by Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison) in 2022's Scream. It proved to be a bittersweet moment as it was a heroic end to the character,...

Something strange — well, stranger than the usual Ghostface stabby-stabby antics — is going on in Woodsboro. As production ramps up on Kevin Williamson's upcoming Scream 7, the last few weeks have seen both Matthew Lillard's Stu Macher and Scott Foley's Roman Bridger confirmed to be making a comeback in the slasher saga's seventh instalment, despite both having been pretty clearly killed off when we saw them last. And now, per Deadline's reporting, we're getting word that David Arquette's fan favourite Deputy Dewey Riley is returning to the fray too as the horror franchise continues to bring back its dead.
The last time we saw dear Dewey, husband of Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers, he was being turned into a human pincushion in Scream by newly minted Oscar winner Mikey Madison. How exactly he'll be returning as Og franchise writer Kevin Williamson readies his big move into the...

David Arquette will reprise his role as Dewey Riley in Scream 7, despite the character’s death in Scream (2022). He joins Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, both of whom also played characters previously killed in the franchise. The decision adds intrigue to the latest installment, though details on how these characters return remain undisclosed.
Arquette first portrayed Dewey in Scream (1996), playing the well-intentioned deputy sheriff of Woodsboro. Over the years, he became a survivor of multiple Ghostface attacks and a central figure in the franchise. His relationship with journalist Gale Weathers, played by Courteney Cox, was a key part of the series until Dewey was killed in the fifth film by Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison). The character’s demise was met with mixed reactions from longtime fans. Cox previously commented on the decision, saying, “Dewey is so loved by Scream fans. They have to figure it out.”
Lillard and Foley’s return raises further questions.

The theories about Scream 7 potentially becoming a super-meta New Nightmare-esque entry in the slasher franchise are starting to sound more and more likely. That, or Sidney Prescott being hounded by AI and deepfakes. Why do I say that? Because David Arquette has just joined the cast of Scream 7 as none other than Deputy Dewey Riley, a previous main character in the film series who was violently killed off in the fifth Scream.
Dewey's return is just the latest of several dead characters coming back for Scream 7, which will see original scribe Kevin Williamson direct a Scream film for the first time. Woodsboro’s favorite deputy sheriff is back in town: David Arquette will officially reprise his role as Dewey Riley from the first five “Scream” movies in the upcoming seventh installment of the horror franchise.
It’s not yet clear exactly how this is possible, as Dewey was vicously stabbed to death in the fifth film, “Scream” (2022), by Ghostface (later revealed to be Mikey Madison’s Amber Freeman). It has been established in the Scream franchise that heroine Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is married to a man named Mark, who viewers will be introduced to in the currently-filming Scream 7. Most fans assumed that her husband was Mark Kincaid, a character she met in Scream 3, where he was played by Patrick Dempsey. But Scream 7 has been filming since the start of January, and Dempsey is not in the movie. Instead, this film will reveal that Sidney’s husband is Mark Evans, played by Joel McHale (Community). Now, Dempsey has confirmed to Variety that he was in talks to reprise the role of Mark Kincaid in the new Scream sequel, but the scheduling didn’t work out.
Dempsey told Variety, “It just didn’t work out and we were dealing with the fires and everything that was going on and the schedule didn’t work out, unfortunately.

For a while there, it seemed like we would see the love story between Sydney Prescott (Neve Campell) and Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey) play out in Scream 7. As franchise fans will recall, the two were very much a thing in Scream 3, and when we learned in Scream 5 that Sydney was married to Mark... all the pieces seemed to connect, and fans were excited about the continuation of Sydney and Mark's love story. Fast-forward to January 2025: we learned that Joel McHale would join the franchise as Sydney's husband, Mark Evans.
While initial reports indicated that Dempsey was in talks to return to Scream 7, negotiations ultimately failed. Dempsey has now confirmed the reason: scheduling conflicts brought on by the catastrophic California wildfires. Speaking with Variety, Dempsey revealed:

Entertainment Weekly reports that Drew Barrymore revealed on her show that her daughters, Olive and Frankie, had recently watched Scream for the first time. Barrymore says she lets her children discover her movies whenever they feel interested and her pre-teen daughters surprised her one day. It's official: Scott Foley is coming back as Roman Bridger. The Scream 7 actor confirmed that he would be reprising his Scream 3 role in the upcoming slasher instead of playing a new character.
When Foley's Scream 7 casting was first announced, unlike the movie's other returning stars, he was not confirmed to be returning as Sidney Prescott's half-brother and former Ghostface, Roman Bridger. However, during an appearance on Live with Kelly & Mark (via X), Foley confirmed that he would be back as Roman Bridger, although the actor hinted that fans shouldn't expect to see a lot of Roman in the movie. "Look man, it's Scream," began Foley after Live co-host Mark Consuelos (who is also part of the Scream 7 cast) noted that Roman was coming back despite dying in Scream 3. "I just had a conversation with Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first few Screams and is directing this one.

A couple of weeks ago, Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures made a surprising casting announcement, revealing that Scott Foley, who played the Ghostface killer in Scream 3, is returning for Scream 7, even though his character was killed off. That was quickly followed by another surprising announcement: Matthew Lillard, who was a Ghostface killer in the original Scream and also appeared to be killed off, will also be appearing in Scream 7. Now, their co-star Mason Gooding has said in an interview that Foley and Lillard are bringing “something special” to the film, and Foley and another co-star Mark Consuelos, took a moment to discuss being set up in the same hotel during an interview on Live with Kelly and Mark. You can watch the Foley / Consuelos clip in the embed above, and Gooding’s quote can be found below.

Scream 7 star Mason Gooding finally opened up about the highly-anticipated next installment to the iconic slasher franchise. Gooding has been portraying the role of Chad Meeks-Martin since 2022’s Scream, where he was introduced as Randy Meeks’ nephew.
Speaking with Variety, Gooding revealed that Scream 7 will feature the “most brutal” Ghostface of the franchise, teasing fans to anticipate the horror sequel’s next-level gruesome kill sequences. "It feels like an amplification of what’s came before, and there’s no better indication of that than Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original, coming back now to direct," he shared. "I think that Ghostface is absolutely the most brutal he’s been. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s some stuff that they do to the human body that I feel like Kevin is breaking new ground with. There was a prosthetic that sat in the makeup trailer that actually turned my stomach over.

Ethan Embry may only be 46 years old, but he has 35 years of acting credits to his name, having worked on more than 100 different projects. And now he’s set to cross paths with Ghostface, as Deadline reports that he has joined the cast of Scream 7!
Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm. But then Ortega allegedly asked for a substantial pay raise – and as we saw when Neve Campbell dropped out of Scream VI due to a pay dispute, these pay issues don’t tend to work out. Then Barrera was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. Landon dropped out the of the project soon after.

Exclusive: Scott Foley has joined the cast of Scream 7 from Spyglass and Paramount Pictures.
Details regarding his character and the film’s plot are currently under wraps. However, Foley is already part of the Scream universe having portrayed antagonist Roman Bridger, the film director and half-brother of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who was revealed to be the Ghostface Killer of Scream 3.
Foley’s casting comes with its own set of questions because Roman was killed by Dewey (David Arquette) at Sidney’s request. Roman has faked his own death before so it’s plausible that he could reprise the role in the present or perhaps in flashback form in the past if he is deceased. Could Roman have a long-lost twin? This is Scream after all, so if he returns as a ghost (face killer?) or a zombie, it would not shock most.

Ahead of the opening of Gerard Butler's Den of Thieves 2: Pantera this coming weekend, another one of his films is currently climbing the streaming charts. Last Seen Alive, which was a massive box office and critical bomb in 2022, is at number two in the Max international streaming charts. This despite a truly horrendous score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film has a respectable cast with Butler, Jaimie Alexander (Thor), Russell Hornsby (The Hate U Give), and Ethan Embry (Sweet Home Alabama), and was directed by Brian Goodman, mostly known for his acting. Last Seen Alive follows Will (Butler) as he searches for his soon-to-be ex-wife, Lisa (Alexander), who goes missing while at a gas station. As is typical with these types of films, Will finds himself up against the small town's criminal element, while also on the run from the authorities.

John Cena has made some good movies, and he has made some absolute dross. One of the latter is the 2011 movie The Reunion, which has found a surprising new audience since landing on Tubi this month. The film falls very much into the category that made many question whether Cena could make it as an actor, with the wrestler-turned-actor's attempt to deliver a nuanced performance falling mostly flat. Cena plays Sam, a suspended cop who gets caught up in a dangerous scheme while attempting to claim the inheritance left to him and his siblings by their late father. To many, the nuance was very much lost, and this was not the John Cena that would end up leading several huge franchise projects a decade later.
When it came out, The Reunion was one of Cena’s first movies, and, as would be pointed out by several critics, it was one of several critical bombs.

Characters come and go on The Walking Dead, meaning a lot of guest stars have paid their due time in the zombie apocalypse. The Walking Dead was like the Grey's Anatomy of apocalyptic shows, where actors would star for one or two episodes until they met their fictional death. A lot of these actors were already pretty big in the industry before signing on, and for some, The Walking Dead was their big break.
The Walking Dead didn't start attracting notable guest stars until around Season 6, likely because of the critically acclaimed fifth season. Once the main cast started getting into the double digits, often making it too hard to count, the deaths started racking up. But to be on The Walking Dead for a short time was a rite of passage for a lot of actors, and a fun time to experiment with gory death scenes.

The clip, shared on Instagram, started with a series of insulting and sexist social media about her body followed by footage of her training in the gym for the role.

Ever notice how the young thespians portraying Audrey and Rusty Griswold in the Vacation movies kept getting yoinked and replaced? It wasn’t because they were terrible actors. The problem was the movies’ infrequent release schedule, meaning the actors always aged out of the parts before they had a chance to film another one. Here’s the definitive ranking of the five pairs of Audreys and Rustys rolling around the comedy multiverse.
5 Vegas Vacation
Ethan Embry and Marisol Nichols are older, more jaded versions of Rusty and Audrey — which makes sense, given the film’s location. With the help of a fake ID, Rusty somehow wins five cars playing slot machines. And Audrey gets sexualized for the first time in the series, landing a job as a go-go dancer after visiting a strip club with her pole-dancing cousin. Yuck.

They're the most famous duo to play the Griswold children, Audrey and Rusty, so why didn't Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki return beyond National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? Of the original National Lampoon's Vacation movies, the third outing Christmas Vacation has emerged as the favorite. Of course, the holiday setting gives audiences an excuse to revisit it every Christmas, but it's also just the funniest and warmest. The sequel continued the unspoken tradition of recasting Audrey and Rusty each time, with Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki inheriting the roles from Dana Hill and Jason Lively.
Christmas Vacation found Lewis and Galecki at the beginning of their acting careers, with the duo soon finding fame elsewhere. Lewis went on to roles in 1991's Cape Fear remake, the controversial Natural Born Killers, and more recently, the acclaimed thriller Yellowjackets. Galecki went to roles in two of the biggest sitcoms of the last few...

John Hughes is responsible for the greatest Thanksgiving movie of all time, 1987’s poignant Planes, Trains & Automobiles. This Steve Martin and John Candy-led classic has become a perennial and a movie tons of folks have probably been revisiting this week. However, about four years later, in 1991, John Hughes made another Thanksgiving movie in the same vein, Dutch. Despite being a pretty solid movie with a very recognizable cast, it’s a hard movie to track down nowadays.
Dutch is very much in the vein of Planes, Trains & Automobiles in that it pairs a snooty, white-collar guy with a more down-to-earth, blue-collar kind of guy. The big twist here is that the white-collar guy is a kid, with Ethan Embry (then known as Ethan Randall) playing a prep-school kid who winds up on a long journey home for Thanksgiving with his mom’s new boyfriend, Dutch, played by Ed O’Neill.
