Beghe and Duchovny have been friends for the better part of 50 years, with the former having followed the latter's journey from writing the book to trying to turn it into a movie. Beghe praises Duchovny's ability to create a relaxed atmosphere on the sets of projects he is directing, while also going on to reflect on the improv he and his co-stars engaged in while shooting.

Plot: Ted is a failed writer-turned-Yankees Stadium peanut slinger who moves back home after learning of the failing health of his Red Sox-obsessed father, Marty. While Marty strives to make amends for his past, his health drops abruptly whenever his beloved Sox lose a game. To keep his dad’s spirits up, Ted takes matters into his own hands and manufactures a winning streak with the help of a crew of dad’s neighborhood pals. An ode to the bond between father and son, this warm and witty film demonstrates how life truly belongs to the losers, and that the longshots are the ones worth betting on.
Review: Over the last decade, David Duchovny has transformed from actor to musician and novelist. On top of three albums of original songs, the former star of The X-Files and Californication has written four best-selling novels. After a great role in HBO’s The Sympathizer,...

"Baseball is the only game that death is jealous of. Baseball defeats time. Only baseball has the possibility of going on forever." Vertical has revealed an official trailer for an indie dramedy film called Reverse the Curse, a baseball story about a father who loves the Boston Red Sox. It's directed by David Duchovny and also adapted from Duchovny's own book titled "Bucky F*cking Dent", an ode to the bond between father and son. The film follows Ted, aka Mr. Peanut, who moves in with his father Marty when he is diagnosed with lung cancer. To keep him happy and alive, Ted enlists Marty's grief counselor Mariana and friends to fake a Red Sox winning streak using the help of a few pals. Starring David Duchovny, Logan Marshall-Green, Stephanie Beatriz, Jason Beghe, Evan Handler, Santo Fazio, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Pamela Adlon. This initially premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival last year,...

“Reverse the Curse,” the second movie written and directed by David Duchovny, is based on Duchovny’s 2016 novel “Bucky F*cking Dent,” and whether or not the story is autobiographical, it feels autobiographical, and I mean that as a compliment. Set in the summer of 1978, it’s framed around one man’s obsession with the Boston Red Sox — meaning, of course, the curse of the Bambino, going back to 1918, the last time (until 2004) the Sox won the championship.
The man is Ted Fulilove, which is a terrible last name for a movie character, though he’s played by Duchovny as a cussed crab apple with an amusing misanthropic put-down for every occasion (like: “Closure’s for morons”). “Reverse the Curse” has a handful of characters, but it’s essentially a father-son two-hander — one of those dramadies in which the dad is a heartless-on-the-surface coot who was no good when it came...

For a movie with an expletive in its title, Bucky F*cking Dent sure displays a sentimental streak.
In David Duchovny’s film based on his well-received 2016 novel, a dying, and diehard, Red Sox fan is comforted by his son and friends who make up stories about imaginary victories — and even periodically use a garden hose and sound effects replicating a thunderstorm to make him think that certain games have been rained out. It’s like a modern-day version of the classic O. Henry story “The Last Leaf.”
Fortunately, the film, receiving its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, also features enough caustic, irreverent humor to make its soppier aspects more palatable. Representing Duchovny’s first feature directorial effort since 2004’s House of D, it provides an excellent showcase for the actor’s particular brand of deadpan comedy as the sort of cranky, wisecracking guy who pretends to be taking his last breath,...

Indie film continues to make it's statement letting all of us know where the cool and original films are! I had the pleasure interviewing filmmaker Jeremiah Kipp a few months ago and I'm totally impressed with the guy and his short film 'Contact'! Here's the new trailer for The Sadist , the latest from Kipp and Big Caper Films which stars genre legend Tom Savini along with Frank Wihbey, Mackenzie Christine Hawkins, Miguel Lopez, Jerry Murdock and Santo Fazio from a story by Frank Wihbey. I'd file this one under a horror/action hybrid, watch the trailer below and give us your feedback.
If this trailer is any indication we have a bloody treat heading our way soon! We will keep y'all posted on all new things that are The Sadist!
Be on the lookout soon for my "Versus" interviews with actor Jerry Murdock. super-producer Alan Rowe Kelly and Dp Dominick Sivilli.

Director Jeremiah KippThe Sadist was previously known as Swine and the film stars make-up phenom Tom Savini (The Dead Matter). The script has been penned by Fangoria writer Jeremiah Kipp and The Sadist will be Kipp's debut in the director's chair. The first trailer for this feature shows a crazed Savini taunting and tormenting hunters in the bush. Maniacal eyes aside, this independent project has potential despite the challenges of a small budget. No word on the release, but low budget horror fans can look at the clip inside.
The synopsis for The Sadist here:

House of Satisfaction 2009, USA Director: Jesse Hartman Writer: Jesse Hartman (story), Greg Takoudes (screenplay) “New York fairy tale” House of Satisfaction takes director Jesse Hartman’s real-life club and music as inspiration, setting up camp inside Mo Pitkin’s House of Satisfaction, and turning Hartman's band Laptop into an underground legend. Content-wise, it’s unclear where fact and fiction part, but to be fair, that has little bearing on the success of the film. You don’t have to be a Hartman fan to appreciate his first feature, but you do, have to be enchanted enough to buy the whole washout genius routine at the heart of it. - and that is exactly where Hartman lost me. The plot unfolds during a weekend at Pitkin’s, wherein Jesse "Limbo" comes face to face with old ghosts and new foes as he hides out with a stash of stolen Benjamins in his backpack.
