Linda Lavin’s final role on television will be in “Mid-Century Modern” this Friday, so her co-stars and the sitcom creators made sure to honor the late star at their Hulu premiere on Tuesday.
“Linda Lavin was the most joyous, gracious, amazing person that you’d ever want to meet. She worked from the age of 5 to 87 and went out blazing like the star she was,” Nathan Lee Graham told TheWrap. “She truly was a pro at everything. This woman did everything: she could play the piano; she could sing; she could act, comedy, drama equally as well. She was a light. I call her the spiritual showrunner of our show. She’s the glue, she keeps us going. She’s the puppetmaster, she’s doing all of this tonight. So, she’s here.”
The Tony Award winner and Emmy-nominated actress died in December at age 87 from complications of lung cancer before Season 1 had wrapped.

There's a reason "The Office" remains so beloved more than a decade after its ninth and final season ended in 2013. In fact, there are several reasons, from the cast to the writing to the way in which the early episodes, at least, felt like they were giving you a glimpse into the lives of real people who just happened to have an absolutely twisted weirdo as a boss. But the show was also just packed with some incredibly funny moments that remain forever embedded in fans' memories. From the disastrous dinner date at Michael (Steve Carrell) and Jan (Melora Hardin)'s house to the legendary fire drill cold open that began one of the best and most chaotic episodes of "The Office," the series' already hilarious tone was punctuated by so many of these comedic high-points.

John Krasinski was awarded with People’s Sexiest Man Alive title this year and honestly, it’s absolutely worth it. Right from the time we saw him breaking the fourth wall and staring at us in The Office, the actor has captivated our hearts like no other. Clearly, his admirers are not limited and even actors can’t help but admire the man’s undeniable beauty. This includes his former co-star, Kate Flannery.

On the face of it, The Office seems like a straightforward sitcom with relatable storylines that fans can't get enough of. And for the most part, it is. However, keeping the series fun and unpredictable, there are a few stunts thrown in along the way, namely from Meredith. The office setting makes it seem like nothing too out of the ordinary would happen. The employees of Dunder Mifflin go to work, and each make their contribution to the success of the paper merchants. Once viewers get to know the array of characters, it quickly becomes clear that almost anything could happen. Despite Dwight hiding weapons around the office and Michael burning his foot on a grill, the writers and actors managed to maintain a believable environment for the show to be based in.
Although she's not at the forefront of every episode, Meredith had some truly memorable moments. Flashing Michael at a Christmas party,...

TV shows need compelling protagonists, but some great shows end up having more interesting supporting characters. The main character is the one who advances the plot and carries the bulk of the show's drama, but this doesn't always guarantee that they will be the audience's favorite. Supporting characters have the opportunity to bring something different to the show, and they are unburdened by the need to directly impact the main plot.
Comedy shows are more likely to have supporting characters who outshine the protagonist. In drama shows, the story is usually too important, so the protagonist has to be the most interesting character or the entire show could fall flat. Comedy offers a bit more leniency, because audiences don't necessarily need to be captivated by the main character's personal journey to enjoy the humor of the show and the subplots.

If any show disproves the idea that all remakes are rubbish, it's The Office. The Steve Carrell-led comedy, which first aired in 2005, was initially met with skepticism. Critics understandably raised concerns about how American optimism would combine with the caustic cynicism of Ricky Gervais' much-loved original, and early reactions suggested that The Office would go the way of other ill-advised trans-Atlantic TV clones. 19 years later, not only has The Office stepped out of the short-lived BBC series' shadow, but that it deserves to be considered on its own terms as one of the all-time great comedy series.

Every fan of The Office can agree that the role of Michael Scott was perfectly cast. With Steve Carell in the role, the American remake of the British series of the same name became a major hit that earned the actor six Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Before landing on Carell, there was a lot of pressure to find the right person to play the boss of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company's Scranton branch. The Office was originally created in the U.K. but it was the U.S. version that stole the viewers' hearts, between many other international versions. The popular sitcom ran for nine seasons between 2005 and 2013, and the series finale also included a beloved guest appearance.
The U.S. version of The Office followed the work lives of the employees of a paper company branch and had a big ensemble cast. The main cast consisted of Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, and B. J. Novak. Carell, who played Michael Scott on the sitcom left at the end of Season 7 and had a guest appearance in the finale, but recent episode of Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey's Office Ladies podcast (via CinemaBlend), the two revealed Carell was hesitant about returning as Michael in the finale.

Sometimes, the absence of a TV character was so great that the showrunners had no option but to bring in a replacement to fill the void. There are many reasons this can happen, from actors wanting to move on before interest in the show has started to wane or even behind-the-scenes controversies that mean a vital character must be written off without warning. Occasionally, character replacements, such as the addition of Winston replacing Coach in New Girl, work out well. However, theyre often complete disasters that frustrate viewers who long for the return of the original star.
TV character replacements are different from when a part gets recast, as rather than trying to push a different actor into a previously established role, this is when a new character is created to fill the void. While they often share similarities with their predecessor, this is not always necessary, as some shows...

When it comes to the format of long-running television, there's always the possibility of a disappointing finale. With longer-running shows, audiences become so invested in the stories and characters of a TV show that an underwhelming finale can feel very upsetting after years of build-up. There are a few well-known TV shows that had infamously disappointing finales, such as Game of Thrones.
While some TV show finales were always a big event in pop culture, many of them didn't live up to expectations. However, there are many instances in which the penultimate episode, the episode before the finale, was a better watch. While these instances do not necessarily mean the finales were bad, the penultimate episodes were slightly better for fans who made it all the way to the final season.

From the outside looking in, it seems like Dancing with the Stars should be one of the simplest and most drama-free reality shows. After all, the show sometimes seems like it is just a simple opportunity for Real Housewives to learn how to dance. However, the show is so much more than some observers may realize, as evidenced by how complicated the process of making the show's pairings is.
Sadly, there has also been a lot of DWTS drama involving how much more the stars get paid than the dancers and pros who don't like their partners. However, there is a bright side to the show, as evidenced by the fact Tori Spelling revealed DWTS made her "even better" at something surprising.

Sitcoms are some of the best and most popular TV series out there. They're incredibly versatile shows, as any premise with a suitably funny spin can make for a great "situational comedy." One of the hallmarks of a great sitcom is the incredible characters that populate them. Having an enjoyable and likeable main cast is tantamount to making the premise work, but it goes beyond that. These shows also need a variety of other characters to bounce off of. The best shows make these characters so good, that fans will be wishing they got to see more of them.
There are absolutely tons of underrated sitcom characters. From main cast members, to reoccurring roles, to bit parts, there's a lot that exists in the world of "what could have been." Sure, there's such a thing as "too much of a good thing," but there is also such a thing as...

Anna Delvey is officially a contestant on Season 33 of Dancing With The Stars. And, one former star of the show is not fond of the shocking cast decision.
Kate Flannery Speaks Out Against Anna Delvey
Kate Flannery, who competed in Season 28 of DWTS, recently spoke about how she feels about Anna joining the show. And she is not a fan, to say the very least.
“We don’t need that vibe. She’s not a dancer. We can do better than that,” The Office actress snapped.

Very often, a fictional character gets a total hate mob whipped up against them. Sometimes it's justified take Joffrey from Game of Thrones for example, who was a psychopath and a killer but sometimes it's not. Sometimes, all the character did to get hate from fans was get in the way of a relationship or make a single bad decision.
Unfortunately, this very often has a negative impact on the person playing that character. There have been awful stories about actors coming out years later and talking about how the hate affected them as people. No matter what the character did, going after the actor is never okay.

Consider actress Kate Flannery among those who disagree with Anna Delvey’s participation in Dancing with the Stars.
Flannery, best known as Meredith Palmer on The Office, competed in Season 28 of the dance competition show.
She partnered with professional dancer Pasha Pashkov and got eliminated fifth overall.
Contestants from Flannery’s season may have been considered controversial, including former NFL star Ray Lewis, former NBA star Lamar Odom, and former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
However, Delvey’s Season 33 appearance is highly controversial because she was convicted on eight charges after posing as a German heiress in New York to defraud wealthy entities of significant funds.
Everyone from disgruntled fans to The View’s Joy Behar and former DWTS dancer Cheryl Burke has reacted to Delvey’s controversial inclusion in the cast.
Flannery is the latest to offer critical remarks objecting to the fake heiress and criminal participating in the competition.

Four years ago, animators Adam and Craig Malamut were thinking about what came next. Their beloved “Game of Zones” (an animated mashup of the modern-day NBA and “Game of Thrones” on Bleacher Report) was ending, and they had some new characters they wanted to bring to life.
“We knew we wanted to bring out these characters and figure out the best setting to put them in and what’s going to feel fresh, especially because the development process takes so long,” Craig Malamut told IndieWire. “[Back then] Andrew Yang was running for president and was talking about universal basic income and AI was in the conversation.”
That was enough of a kernel to prompt “Universal Basic Guys,” the latest addition to Fox’s Sunday night Animation Domination lineup, in which employees at a hot dog factory are left unemployed but with universal basic income — and a lot of free time on their hands.

TV show remakes can surpass originals by introducing new interpretations of characters, like in The Office and Shameless. Some remakes change the tone or setting of the original, like Dynasty moving from Denver to Atlanta and Bel-Air's grittier approach. Veep proves remakes can be successful by maintaining the satirical humor of the original, even with a different name and setting.
There are multiple TV show remakes that, in theory, shouldve been terrible but are actually absolutely great. Many of the best TV shows of all time are remakes, but the definition of remake has varied. Some remakes reuse the same concept as the original but introduce new interpretations of audiences favorite characters, like The Office, whereas others recreate the same story and personalities but with a few detail changes, such as Shameless.

The prank centers on Ben and Tanner, two seniors who cook up an elaborate scheme to get back at their brutal physics teacher, Mrs. Wheeler. When the no-nonsense educator fails the whole class due to one student’s cheating, the fed-up friends take revenge by planting false evidence online linking Wheeler to a missing student. Their lighthearted prank soon spirals out of control as the fake news spreads like wildfire.
Directed by Maureen Bharoocha and showcased at the SXSW Film Festival, the comedy/thriller promised subversive social commentary through its digitally-driven plot. Legendary actress Rita Moreno sinks her teeth into the villainous role of Wheeler, no doubt relishing the chance to play against type. However, while the setup suggested intriguing themes around student stress and the fog of online misinformation, the execution proves inconsistent.
An uneven tonal mix of satire and mystery, the narrative complicates matters further with each implausible twist.

The Office completely revolutionized the mockumentary-style sitcom genre. The show, which was adapted from the same-titled British series, debuted in 2005 and ran for nine seasons. However, despite having a sizable fan base that continued to this day, the show had its fair share of embarrassing moments. One that specifically features Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesley (Jenna Fischer) at the forefront.

The duo was an embodiment of couple goals on the show. However, some of their earlier interactions on the show might raise concerns. In one particular scene in question, Jim was blamed for crossing a major line. But was he the only one at fault?

Exclusive: Micro Budget is a comedy feature about an aspiring director who recklessly moves himself and his nine-months-pregnant actress wife from Iowa to LA to shoot a low-budget indie movie and sell it to a streamer for a “fuck-ton of money”. Sound familiar?
Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan and Chris Parnell and Lady Dynamite’s Maria Bamford star in the film, which is the debut feature from Morgan Evans, who wrote animated feature Merry Little Batman for Amazon/MGM.
Newcomers Emilea Wilson (Alternatino With Arturo Castro) and Patrick Noth (The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show) also star.
The film centers on Terry Terrison (Noth), who plays the director, Documented by his cousin Devin’s (Evans) behind-the-scenes camera crew, Terry finds that the only thing standing between himself and his dream is, well, himself. The mockumentary skewers the world of show-business and the depths some maniacal auteurs will sink to in pursuit of their vision.

Plenty of TV shows should have ended earlier to preserve their quality and legacy. Some of the best season finales could easily be series finales. The perfect ending for a show often comes a few seasons before the actual series finale.
There are plenty of TV shows which outstay their welcome, even though they sometimes give themselves the perfect finale before officially wrapping things up. A season finale can often act as a great series finale in hindsight, or a random mid-season may just stumble upon a poignant and beautiful final scene which sums up the entire arc of the show. Unfortunately, not many shows tend to quit while they're ahead.
Shows with disappointing finales can frustrate fans, especially when the same show wasted a potentially brilliant ending a few seasons earlier. When writers are free from the pressure of a series finale, they often inadvertently stumble upon the perfect ending.

With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete on the dance floor. Three of my past suggestions did ultimately become “DWTS” contestants: Frankie Muniz (who came in third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who came in second in season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of female celebs I think the show should consider inviting to the ballroom to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know who you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And feel free to let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.
