The acclaimed pro wrestling documentary Beyond the Mat is coming to Blu-ray. Australian distributor Via Vision Entertainment is releasing the doc in HD for the first time. Released in 1999 and directed, produced, written, and narrated by comedy writer Barry W. Blaustein, the film primarily focuses on three professional wrestlers; Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Mick Foley, and Terry Funk. At the time Beyond the Mat was filmed, Roberts was a huge star in the 1980s but has since struggled with addiction and estrangement from his family members. Foley is an easy-going family man, but his punishing in-ring performances are beginning to take a toll on his body. The oldest of the three, hardcore wrestler Funk is recovering from knee surgery and contemplating retirement.

Cm Punk has been fired from All Elite Wrestling, effective immediately, the company announced hours before Saturday’s airing of Aew: Collision on TNT.

Punk’s termination comes after a weeklong internal investigation into the backstage fight between him and fellow wrestler Jack Perry at All In London on Aug. 27.

Picking up from last week’s first live shows of the season, the Tuesday and Wednesday airings of “America’s Got Talent” drew in 5.51 and 5.0 million viewers, respectively, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day figures. The two episodes stand as the most-watched programs across primetime from last Friday to Thursday, per TheWrap’s weekly broadcast TV ratings breakdown of the top 10 highest-rated and most-watched programs of the week.

Per FilmRatings.com, the update of the 1989 cult classic that starred the late Patrick Swayze has officially been rated R "for violence throughout, pervasive language and some nudity." This rating is fitting for the bouncer action flick as it follows the original movie's hard R rating for its over-the-top violence, gratuitous nudity and love scenes between stars Swayze and Kelly Lynch. Additionally, it's director Doug Liman's first R-rated movie since American Made in 2017.

WWE superstar and current World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins pays homage to his late former rival Bray Wyatt.

As celebrated by fans on X, Rollins appeared on the August 28th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw to cut an in-ring promo against his current opponent, Shinsuke Nakamura. As the company continues to process the untimely passing of Wyatt, Rollins not only wore an armband with the superstar's real name Windham but he also changed the logo plates on his championship belt to have the mask logo of Wyatt's alter-ego, The Fiend. WWE’s “Friday Night SmackDown” honoring recently deceased wrestlers Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk drew in the biggest audience the Fox program has seen since 2020.

Friday’s episode, which followed the deaths of Wyatt and Funk earlier in the week, scored an average 0.78 rating in the key broadcast demographic among adults 18-49 — the highest rating of the night — and drew in 2.65 million viewers, making it the highest viewed episode since Christmas day of 2020. “Friday Night SmackDown” also averaged 1.02 million viewers ages 18-49, scoring the highest viewership in the demo also since the 2020 Christmas episode.

With “Friday Night SmackDown” holding down Friday night primetime programming for Fox, the episode boosted Fox to score the highest rating of the night among the major broadcasters, as well as the second-highest total viewership.

Two-time Universal Champion Bray Wyatt passed away on Thursday, and the immense outpouring of tributes that have been coming in afterward show just how much he was loved.

Wyatt, whose real name was Windham Rotunda, was just 36 years old, while his death has been attributed to a heart attack following a battle with Covid and subsequent heart issues. It's heartbreaking to many of those who were close wtih Wyatt, such as his fellow WWE Superstars. Alexa Bliss, who'd been involved in very memorable storylines with Wyatt on WWE programming, was quick to express her grief with a post on X.

Terry Funk, the the hardcore wrestling icon who set a new standard for brutality in entertainment, has died at the age of 79.

His death was confirmed by World Wrestling Entertainment on Wednesday. A cause of death was not given at this time.

Born on June 30, 1944, in Hammond, Indiana, his father, Dory Funk, Sr., was a professional wrestler, and the family relocated to Amarillo, Texas. Following in their father’s footsteps, Terry began wrestling in the Sixties as a tag-team with his brother Dory Funk, Jr., according to WWE.

Pro wrestler Terry Funk has died, according to WWE and pro wrestler Mick Foley. Funk was 79 years old.

Along with wrestling, the highly respected performer worked in film, including multiple Sylvester Stallone projects as far back as 1978’s “Paradise Alley.” Funk also appeared in “Over the Top,” did stunts in “Rocky III” and choreographed the climactic fight in “Rocky V.”

Funk was also featured in the cult classic film “Road House” and Johnny Knoxville’s “The Ringer.” He also had TV roles on shows such as “Quantum Leap” and “Swamp Thing.”

Funk was best known in his later years for pioneering “hardcore” wrestling, which involves using weapons and sharp objects, such as barbed wire, to both simulate and cause actual damage in order to increase the drama in a match. This often involved copious amounts of bleeding. Funk was also infamous for wrestling multiple “retirement” matches before quickly coming back afterward.

Hardcore legend and WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Terry Funk has died. He was 79.

Funk’s mentee and fellow Hall of Famer Mick Foley confirmed his passing Wednesday on X, the app formerly known as Twitter. A cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

The mother of late Euphoria star Angus Cloud is refuting rumors that her son died by suicide.
