As Hollywood continues to mourn the death of acting legend Gene Hackman, one of his highest-rated films finds a new streaming home, allowing fans to catch up with some of his best work. Hackman and fellow Oscar-winner Kevin Costner's neo-noir classic, No Way Out, is now available on Amazon Prime Video.

The event honored esteemed ballet dancer Misty Copeland with the Arthur Mitchell Vision Award and civic leaders and philanthropists Terri Prettyman Bowles and Alvin Bowles with the Virtuoso Award. The organization raised $1.3 Million to further their mission of providing arts education, maintaining a world-class school, and presenting a ballet Company of African American and other racially diverse artists.

Robert Garland, a Hollywood screenwriter who began his career writing episodes of such popular sitcoms as That Girl and Sanford and Son before going on to pen the big-screen hits The Electric Horseman and No Way Out, died Nov. 21 in Baltimore. He was 83.
His son, Michael Garland, said the cause of death was complications from dementia.
Born in Brooklyn, Garland got his first job in television as a talent coordinator for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1969, when the program was based in New York. He quickly rose to writer status and helped prepare Carson’s nightly monologues.
Throughout the early 1970s, Garland wrote scripts for That Girl; The Bill Cosby Show; Love, American Style; The Bob Newhart Show;and Sanford and Son.

The Emergency Fund for Student Dancers (Efsd) announces our annual benefit concerts by advanced students of its member schools - The Ailey? School, Merce Cunningham Studio, Dance Theatre of Harlem School, Lim?n Institute, Houston Ballet, and Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. The concert is on Saturday, February 28 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 1, 2008 at 3:00 Pm at the Dance Theatre of Harlem School, 466 West 152nd Street (between Amsterdam and St. Nicholas Avenues). This annual event called by The New York Times "one of the happiest dance rituals in town," brings together the best of the professional studio schools in New York and provides a rare opportunity to see a broad range of dance technique and choreographic variety in a single evening, while raising money to provide emergency support to these same students as they train for professional dance careers. The concerts feature original work by legendary choreographers and respected faculty from member schools.
