Dench's performances in classic British historical roles showcase her acting versatility beyond genre typecasting. Hardy life realities and complex character study in "Notes On A Scandal" highlight Dench's captivating portrayal of moral complexities. Dench's latest work in "Belfast" secures her legacy as a top actress, proving her ability to emotionally resonate with audiences.
Dame Judi Dench has been a hallmark of British cinema and theater for generations, and audiences have long been enraptured by her ability to capture any role with ease. Though she got her start on the stage, Dench has shown herself to be capable of bringing any genre of film to life. Though she's received plenty of accolades for her performances in movies, Dench isn't defined by these awards but by the lives she's touched with her performances. She's an excellent example of a woman that the film industry has continued to celebrate as she ages gracefully.

"If it gets too boring, I'll run away." Cohen Media Group has debuted an official trailer for the upcoming re-release of the classic romantic adventure Heat and Dust, directed by James Ivory, that was originally released in 1983. Set in India in the 1920s, the story looks back at the life of an English woman named Olivia who becomes fascinated by India and enamored by the local ruler, a nawab who combines British distinction with Indian pomp and ruthlessness. The film's international cast stars Greta Scacchi, Shashi Kapoor, Julie Christie, Christopher Cazenove, Julian Glover, Susan Fleetwood, Patrick Godfrey, and Jennifer Kendal. This is a brand new, 4K restoration meaning it will look and sound better than ever. I have not seen this film myself, but I have heard it's certainly worth watching. For now, check out the trailer. Here's the new re-release trailer (+ poster) for James Ivory's Heat and Dust,...

Stars: Gordon Kennedy, Robin Hill, Luke Neal, Aidan McArdle, Sarah Annis, Lee Arnold, Patrick Godfrey, Marcus Cunningham | Written and Directed by Elliot Goldner
Elliot Goldner directs this British horror following a team of specialists from the Vatican who are drawn to a remote West Country church by reports of mysterious occurrences in the area.
The Borderlands sees a deacon from the Catholic Church (Gordon Kennedy) and a sound engineer (Robin Hill) dispatched to a small and ancient church in rural England to verify the claims of miraculous occurrences. Though Father Crellick (Luke Neal) has video footage of items apparently being moved around inside the church by supernatural forces, the deacon is a sceptic by nature and wants more conclusive evidence. He is later joined by another church official (Aidan McArdle) as shit goes from mysterious to frightening to crazy. They duly set up more cameras inside the ancient building, but...

Shadow Of The Sword
Stars: Steven Berkoff, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Julie Cox, Patrick Godfrey, Eddie Marsan | Written by Steve Attridge, Susanne Freund | Directed by Simon Aeby
When writing a story about history it seems that the easy thing to do is look at religion. It’s a subject that has created such division in society it just screams out plenty of themes for a writer to use and manipulate into an entertaining story. Shadow of the Sword is a perfect example of this.
It takes a time in history when the church was all powerful in Europe and examines how corruption and greed can destroy not only the churches credibility but also the lives and friendships of the people it believes it controls.
Set in the times of the inquisitions, Shadow of the Sword looks at the friendship of two orphan boys Martin and Georg. One is chosen by the church...

Some excellent news from the 37th Boston Science Fiction Film Festival where a film we’ve been following for a while now picked up the Best Film award, a distinction picked up by a certain Duncan Jones a few years ago for Moon.
The film is Dimensions: A Line, A Loop, A Tangle of Threads and it is the results of many years hard work and passion from director Sloane U’Ren and writer Ant Neely, who produced the film together. It deals with a scientist obsessed with the idea of going back in time to revisit a particular moment in his childhood and from the trailer below it looks to be a sumptuous affair.
Inbetweeners fans may recognise the lead actor, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and he appears alongside Camilla Rutherford, Patrick Godfrey and Olivia Llewellyn. It’s certainly one to keep an eye on – it’ll play in March...

The 25-year-old rapper-turned-actor and star of the film Weekender
Who's this handsome devil then? David Miliband, Shirley Bassey's husband, and the bully from The Inbetweeners. It's Henry Lloyd-Hughes, rapper turned excellent actor.
Rapper? I know, so clean cut, so James Dean-esque, but he has a damn fine singing voice and he also plays the drums, hence the guns.
Phwoar. Stop it. You've seen him in Miliband of Brothers and the BBC's Bassey biopic, but look forward to seeing a whole lot more of him in the future – the "period sci-fi drama" Dimensions, co-starring Camilla Rutherford and Patrick Godfrey; Roland Emmerich's Anonymous, on the life of Shakespeare; and Anna Karenina, opposite Jude Law and Keira Knightley. Our favourite role so far is as a 90s raver in the film Weekender.
He says: "I wish I looked a bit more like Bruce Springsteen – I'd love to play him in a biopic of his life.

Dimensions Teaser Trailer. Ant Neely, Sloane U’Ren‘s Dimensions (2011) teaser trailer stars Camilla Rutherford, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Patrick Godfrey, Shaun Lucas, and Olivia Llewellyn. Dimensions‘ plot synopsis: “Stephen is a brilliant young boy who lives in Cambridge, England, in what appears to be the 1920s – but nothing in Stephen’s life is quite as it seems. His world is turned upside down upon meeting a charismatic and inspirational professor at a garden party who demonstrates to Stephen and his friends what life would be like if they themselves were merely one, or two, dimensional beings. He then proceeds to explain that by manipulating other dimensions, time travel may actually be possible.
As Stephen’s life unfolds, events lead him to dedicate himself to turning the Professor’s theories of time travel into reality. Jealousy, love, obsession, temptation and greed surround him, influencing his fragile mind and the direction of his work.

Science fiction and period costume drama rarely mix, which is strange because I think the latter can add a sumptuous new layer that we rarely see in scifi. We saw it with The Prestige and on some level I think we see it in Andrew Niccol's films like Gattaca.
A new scifi film from the UK called Dimensions is blending the two genres in a unique story that seems to involve time travel. The film's husband and wife directing duo, Ant Neely & Sloane U.Ren, describe the film as "a cross between H.G. Wells. Time Machine and A Beautiful Mind".

What happens when you put the classic Cinderella story together with a modern setting or flip the protagonists' sexes? A whole lot more than bippity-boppity-boo. In honor of the new film "Year of the Fish," a self-proclaimed "Cinderella in a Chinatown massage parlour," here are five more unique reinventions of this durable fairy tale popularized by French author Charles Perrault in 1697. Actually named Danielle De Barbarac (Drew Barrymore), she was living in servitude to her stepmother, Baroness Rodmilla (Angelica Huston) when...
