Mother, Couch director Niclas Larsson has revealed that if there were one movie he was allowed to remake, it would definitely be the 2004 Jennifer Garner rom-com classic, 13 Going on 30. Twenty years after its release, the Jennifer Garner-led comedy 13 Going on 30 is still thriving.

Sony released Gary Winick’s comedy in theaters April 23, 2004, and the film earned $96 million ($159 million today) at the global box office. Also featuring Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer and Andy Serkis, the movie centered on teenage Jenna Rink (played by Christa B. Allen, now known as Christa Belle), who gets embarrassed at a party and makes a wish that transforms her into her 30-year-old self (Garner).

Co-writers Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, in addition to Belle, separately share with The Hollywood Reporter about other actresses being considered for Garner’s part, Ruffalo feeling hesitant to do the “Thriller” dance, memories of Winick (who died of cancer in 2011 at age 49), the status of a stage musical, and persistent chatter among the film’s team regarding a potential onscreen reboot.

Exclusive: Sony Pictures Television has finalized a new licensing deal with Paramount Global for comedy series The King of Queens to continue to be available on Paramount linear cable networks. The new pact also includes for the first time streaming rights on Paramount+ for all nine seasons and on Pluto TV for some (currently Seasons 1-3).

Paramount Global would not specify which linear networks will be carrying The King Of Queens. The sitcom has been running on the company’s TV Land and CMT.

Sony TV took The King of Queens out a year ago, offering rights across all linear and digital platforms starting in April 2024. The new pact with Paramount Global kicked in at the start of the month, with the show already available on Paramount+ and Pluto TV.

The deal is not exclusive — The King of Queens continues to also be available on NBCU platforms, including Peacock, as well as in broadcast syndication.

Kelley, the dramedy “Big Shot” starred Stamos as men’s basketball coach Marvyn Korn, who found himself ousted from the NCAA and picking up a new job coaching a girls team at a private high school. The cast also featured Jessalyn Gilsig, Yvette Nicole Brown, Richard Robichaux, Sophia Mitri Schloss, Nell Verlaque, Tiana Le, Monique Green, Tisha Custodio and Cricket Wampler.

The teams at the center of Disney+’s Mighty Ducks: Game Changers and Big Shot have played their last games.

The streamer has canceled both shows after two seasons each. The decision comes several months after the ends of their respective seasons: Game Changers concluded in November 2022, and Big Shot had a binge release in October.

The writing has perhaps been on the wall for both shows: After the surprising ouster of Peter Rice from Disney in June, a source at the company cited the decision to renew Big Shot and The Mighty Ducks after their first seasons as examples of Rice’s “questionable deal-making.”

Deadline is reporting that Josh Duhamel is joining the cast of the Disney+ series.

The outlet reports that Duhamel's Gavin Cole is a former NHL player-turned-coach.

"Inspirational, charming, hardcore — he’s big on the hockey metaphor that applies to life," the character breakdown reads.

"He runs the super-intense summer hockey institute where The Mighty Ducks land for Season 2."

Emilio Estevez, who reprised his role from the movies, officially exited Game Changers in November after reports of a contract dispute with ABC Signature.

The studio asked all actors and people working in Zone A on the spin-off to be vaccinated for Covid-19.

Estevez and his reps did not guarantee that he would comply, and the studio ultimately decided against picking up his contract.

Duhamel will play new character NHL player-turned-coach Gavin Cole in the hockey-themed sequel series. Inspirational, charming and hardcore, Gavin is big on the hockey metaphor that applies to life. He runs the super-intense summer hockey institute where The Mighty Ducks land for Season 2.

Duhamel’s casting follows the exit in November of star Emilio Estevez, who told Deadline he was departing the show due to a contract dispute and creative differences after a bout with long-haul Covid. The script was adjusted to continue the show without his character, Gordon Bombay.

It's official, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will return for a second season on Disney+. Premiering on the streaming service back in March, the new series had performed well enough with critics, but as the months went by without word of a renewal, the future of the show started to look grim. Fans can now join the cast and crew in breathing a sigh of relief as Disney has officially ordered season 2 with production slated for early 2022.

Original Mighty Ducks trilogy screenwriter Steven Brill executive produces and serves as co-creator of the series. Fellow co-creators Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa will return as showrunners for The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers season 2. James Griffiths and Michael Spiller executive produce with Spiller also set to direct. Star Lauren Graham serves as co-executive producer. Series creator Steve Brill and showrunners Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith will all return to executive-produce Season 2, which is expected to start production in early 2022.

Disney+ has renewed “Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” for a second season.

Steve Brill, the original creator, writer and executive producer of all three “Mighty Ducks” films from the ’90s, is co-creator and executive producer on the new series alongside showrunners Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa George Heller and Brad Petrigala of Brillstein Entertainment Partners are also executive producers on the new season.

Production on Season 2 is scheduled to begin early next year.
