Spencer Grammer, Harland Williams, Will Friedle, Harry Lennix, Juliana Harkavy and John Dimaggio are among the performers comprising the ensemble voice cast of the animated sci-fi comedy movie Isla Monstro.
Hailing from multimedia company Abyssmal Entertainment, the feature has completed production and launches promotion at San Diego Comic-Con with a booth and a panel taking place Saturday. The project is directed and animated by Steven Shea (Surviving Supercon), who co-wrote the script with James Schrader, and it is currently seeking distribution.
Isla Monstro centers on ne’er-do-well Duke (voiced by Schrader), who falls off a cruise ship and awakens on an abandoned, top secret government island that is rampant with mutants and monsters left over from a failed “super soldier” mission from the 1980s. Duke concocts a scheme to convert the island into a high-class resort getaway with the creatures serving as staff, which does not please the U.S. government.

Director Fred Dekker’s 1987 cult classic monster mash The Monster Squad (watch it Here) features variations of the classic Universal Monsters characters Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, and the Gillman, but it wasn’t actually a Universal production. So to avoid getting in trouble with Universal, the movie’s effects crew at the Stan Winston Studio had to create their own specific designs of the creatures… but that didn’t stop them from sneaking homages to the original monsters in there. It has been known for a while now that designers Steve Wang and Matt Rose hid the face of the original Creature from the Black Lagoon somewhere on the neck of their Gillman suit. Now – as pointed out by Monster Squad super-fan Shawn Robare of Plastic Rocket Pop – the exact location of that face has been found!

With a love of cinema woven into its DNA, The Monster Squad helped indoctrinate ’80s kids to the classic monsters. The generation that grew up watching it on home video and HBO look back on the 1987 film with the same reverence director Fred Dekker had for the Universal monster movies, and now they’re passing it down in a similar fashion. There’s no better way to introduce the next generation than with the new 4K edition.
Conceived as “The Little Rascals meets the Universal Monsters,” the cleverly-plotted film clocks in at a tight 82 minutes. The punchy script by Dekker and Shane Black doesn’t have an ounce of fat on it, save for the casual homophobia, misogyny, and body shaming of the time. Drawing inspiration from Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, human characters offer well-placed levity and a bevy of memorable one-liners, but the monsters are played straight.

The Monster Squad, a 1987 horror comedy, is being released as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for the first time. The film's special effects were done by Stan Winston Studios, known for their work on Terminator and Jurassic Park. Initially a box office failure, The Monster Squad has since become a cult classic, with this new release including bonus features like documentaries and deleted scenes.
The Monster Squad is about to be released as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for the first time. The 1987 horror comedy from director Frank Dekker (Night of the Creeps), who also wrote the script alongside Shane Black (The Predator), answered the question of who you called when you had monsters in your neighborhood, not ghosts. Ghosts are a type of monster, of course, but you'd probably have to be annoyingly pedantic to point that out.

If you were a kid in the eighties, you wanted to be part of The Monster Squad. While a box office dud that made under 4 million dollars at the box office, once this tween classic hit HBO and VHS, its cult status grew. Directed by Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps), who co-wrote with the legendary Shane Black, The Monster Squad revolves around a group of horror-obsessed boys who come face to face with a gaggle of classic monsters, led by the evil Count Dracula (Duncan Regehr). Now they have to battle Dracula, The Mummy, the Gil-Man and the Wolfman while getting help from a descendent of Van Helsing and the surprisingly gentle Frankenstein’s monster (Tom Noonan – in a performance that tugs at the heartstrings).

The 48 year old discussed his near death experience as part of the Gofundme page that has been set up to pay for the actor's medical bills.
Gower was playing tennis when he suddenly felt unwell, and after being rushed to hospital it was confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack, which has lead to him having a pacemaker fitted. The information shared on the page reveals just how close he came to death.
Andre Gower, who also appeared in 80s TV series' such as Knight Rider, The Twilight Zone and Remington Steele, posted on his Facebook page about the incident, sharing a video from hospital in which he had this to say.

We have a brand new trailer for Wolfman's Got Nards. This is a new documentary all about the 1987 cult classic The Monster Squad. It has been in the works for a long time and was finished back in 2018. Yet, as is often the case, it took a while to find distribution. At long last, Gravitas Ventures is getting ready to release it for the world to see. The trailer reveals what we can expect, which is a love letter to director Fred Dekker's 80s monster movie that has, against the odds, managed to endure for more than three decades.
The trailer opens with fans of the movie explaining how they came across it originally and how much they love it. Be it through renting it at the video store or even bootleg DVDs, the movie managed to find its audience in the years after its unceremonious release. Much of...

I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect from this movie based on the title alone. Perhaps some weird Frankenstein spin-off? Or maybe a twisted zombie tale? Or a comedy horror? What I wasn’t expecting was a family friendly Halloween-themed ‘horror’ movie, but that’s kind of what I got with Baby Frankenstein.
Lance (Ian Barling) stumbles upon ‘Baby Frankenstein’ and the two almost instantly embark on a kind of older/younger brother relationship. But it turns out there’s a $50,000 award for the ‘little dude’ and Lance along with his next door neighbour Truth (Cora Savage) must stop his mother’s boyfriend of sorts from capturing him and getting the money.
The story sounds about as ridiculous as it is but...

WildEye Releasing has given us an exclusive trailer for their recently released Baby Frankenstein. While he's not as cute as Baby Yoda, little Frank sure knows how to party. While only shot in 7 days with a shoestring budget, you'd never know, since it looks and feels like it was done by a major Hollywood studio. This family friendly monster movie is now available from WildEye Releasing on Amazon and most digital outlets.
Baby Frankenstein is a comedy-drama feature movie that tells the story of young Lance and his unlikely friendship with a pint-sized, self-aware automaton. After Lance stumbles upon this "little dude," he enlists the help of Truth, the sassy girl-next-door, to protect him from his mom's batty boyfriend, Ken Glinevich. As it turns out, Glinevich is hell-bent on capturing Baby Frankenstein and claiming the $50,000 reward being offered by the mysterious actual owner of Baby Frankenstein, Dauvin Lundquist.

I don't know about you, but one of my favorite horror movies as a kid was Night of the Creeps director Fred Dekker and Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang filmmaker Shane Black's The Monster Squad. Like many The Monster Squad fans out there, I've wished for a sequel for about as long as I can remember. And today we've learned that a Monster Squad series was in the works at one point in time! But it was ultimately abandoned because the powers that be behind the scenes felt it was too similar to Stephen King's It. Weak.
The Monster Squad and Night of the Creeps writer-director Fred Dekker revealed this tragic bit of news recently regarding Monster Squad 2 and the possibility of getting a Monster Squad TV Show, saying this.
"Shane Black and I have both been approached about adapting The Monster Squad for television. Was it my first choice?...

In the latest installment of his Frightfest 2018 pre-festival preview series, host Stuart Wright talks Wolfman’s Got Nards with Andre Gower and Henry Darrow McComas.
A heartfelt love letter to the entire history of Fred Dekker’s 1987 cult classic The Monster Squad, from the cast and crew members who brought the faux Universal creatures to life, to the obsessed fans and horror filmmakers who wouldn’t be where they are today without it. Dekker’s family frightener initially tanked at the box office but found a second life on VHS and cable TV.
