Gilmore Girls premiered in 2000 and ran for seven seasons on The WB and later The CW. The comedy-drama series' popularity has continued long after its series finale, as longtime fans see it as a comfort show, as well as new people discover it on streaming.
Gilmore Girls later received a limited series revival in 2016 on Netflix with the four-part Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Netflix has had the original series on the platform since 2014. However, in a new appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, lead star Lauren Graham revealed she doesn't get any residuals from Netflix for the show.
Asked if she gets tired of talking about it, the actress shared, "I'm not sick of talking about it at all." As Kimmel pointed out that this year marks Gilmore Girls' 25th anniversary, he also highlighted that the show is even more popular now than it was in the past.

“Gilmore Girls” has proven to be one of the prime broadcast network series to have achieved extended life on streaming, even receiving a Netflix revival season “A Year in the Life” in 2016. However, that digital popularity hasn’t necessarily seen extensive compensation for the series cast, as star Lauren Graham explained on a “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” appearance Wednesday evening.
“There really are no residuals on Netflix. Sorry! But I’ve been paid in love,” Graham explained when asked about the matter by Kimmel. “We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB. … Now it’s trickled into younger people, older people, men whose kids or wives probably have forced them to watch it. Lauren Graham is shedding light on the unfortunate reality of beloved shows like Gilmore Girls being made available on streaming platforms.
After more than a decade on Netflix, plus a 2016 revival miniseries that premiered on the platform, the actress recently clarified that she gets “no residuals” for the original WB series being on the streamer.
“We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB,” she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live of the Amy Sherman-Palladino show’s new life on Netflix. “And now it’s trickled into younger people, older people, men whose kids or wives probably have forced them to watch it. Sometimes the most memorable characters are the ones no one expects. When Gilmore Girls premiered on the WB in 2000, of course, the standouts were Lauren Graham and newcomer Alexis Bledel as Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. As the series progressed and found its footing and voice, other side characters began to stand out as well. In the Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino created series, one of those standouts was Kirk Gleason, played by Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). Gunn starred in Gilmore Girls originally here and there, but as the series developed, so did Kirk as the quirky, make-you-scratch-your-head, "that's Kirk" every man we knew by the final season.

Wherever the cast of Gilmore Girls lead, the questions about whether the series will ever return for more in some capacity will inevitably follow. After the four-episode Netflix revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life dropped in November 2016, fans of the beloved series have been anxious for the story to continue, but apart from the cast saying they'd return in a heartbeat, there have been no concrete plans for a new iteration of the dramedy.
Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham has been making the promotional rounds in support of her new Tubi comedy series The Z-Suite, and she has fielded multiple questions in interviews about the status of Gilmore Girls. She hasn't broken any news we didn't know before, but during a recent appearance on Armchair Expert with her on-screen Parenthood brother Dax Shepard, Graham revealed the only way she could currently see the series returning.

Some actors win Primetime Emmys like rolling out of bed (like Allison Janney or Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Others are frequently nominated but have shockingly never won (like Steve Carell or Hugh Laurie). Then there are those who devote much of their careers to TV without ever sniffing a nod. Courteney Cox, for instance, was the only member of the core sextet on Friends never to be nominated for the show. Lauren Graham went from Gilmore Girls to Parenthood, but the TV Academy never took notice. And Kristen Bell has been a TV star for more than 20 years on multiple shows that have garnered awards buzz — even major nominations. But the attention has never gone her way. For Bell, her fortunes should finally change with Nobody Wants This.
Bell had a breakthrough year in 2004, with a two-episode arc during the first season of Deadwood and then debuted as the title character on Veronica Mars.

Fans of Gilmore Girlsappreciate the show for the funny back-and-forth, witty banter between Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham). The charming small-town atmosphere of Stars Hollow feels immersive and welcoming. From Luke's Diner to Kim's Antiques, every business seems like a place that viewers would want to visit. The residents of Star's Hollow, meanwhile, are quirky, interesting, and above all, fully realized. The wit, the charm, the characters...Bunheads shares all of what made Gilmore Girls such an incredible show. It was even created by the same person: Amy Sharman-Palladino.
Bunheads explored themes of growing up and finding one's place in the world. It took its characters seriously, giving them sharp dialogue and interesting arcs.It only ran for 18 episodes in 2012 on ABC Family before it was canceled due to poor ratings. There are many amazing cult TV shows that only aired for one season, and Bunheads should be included among them.

Even after so many years, Gilmore Girlsmaintains a significant following, and it's easy to see why. Full of charm, unique characters, and humor, there's a lot to enjoy about the series. The story follows Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel), showing off their idealized relationship where they are friends as well as mother and daughter. However, Gilmore Girls highlights different dynamics between parents and children. Besides Lorelai and Rory's "best friends" arrangement, there is Lorelai and Emily's (Kelly Bishop) challenging interactions, Mrs. Kim's (Emily Kuroda) overly strict rules for Lane (Keiko Agena), and even Luke (Scott Patterson) and April's (Vanessa Marano) attempt to connect after being kept apart. Yet one of the most intriguing and often under-explored is Lorelai's relationship with her father, Richard (Edward Herrmann).

The entire charm behind Gilmore Girls is the titular Gilmore girls themselves, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel). Their constant back-and-forth banter captured the hearts of audiences everywhere. But just because they’re the stars of the show doesn’t mean they’re devoid of criticism. Rory is one of the most divisive characters in, not only the show, but possibly television as a whole. And while Lorelai hasn’t done quite as much to get fans constantly debating her character, there are some things that wouldn’t fly if the show was made today.

Fans are always calling for more Gilmore Girls, and they haven't entirely been ignored. In 2016, nine years after the original conclusion, Netflix released the four-part revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which allowed people to catch up with their favorite mother/daughter duo, yet the one-season miniseries left more questions than the original finale. Even more recently, a few key characters reunited for a Walmart commercial set in Star's Hollow. It may sound greedy, but fans still want to see the series continue, and actress Lauren Graham is with them. Graham's interest in another revival is crucial as she starred as Lorelai Gilmore, and any continuation would need her on board. However, for audiences and Graham to return to Star's Hollow after nearly a decade, one major question would need to be answered: is there a new Gilmore girl?...

Bridgerton premiered in 2020 on Netflix, and it has been a major phenomenon since then. The Regency-era series is based on Julia Quinn's book series of the same name and follows the eponymous wealthy family.
Every season, Bridgerton followed a different main couple, starting with Daphne and Simon in Season 1, Anthony and Kate in Season 2, and, most recently, Colin and Penelope in Season 3. The show is already renewed for Season 4, which will finally put the rightful Bridgerton sibling in the spotlight — Benedict, whose story was canonically explored in the third installment of the book series, instead of Colin's. To celebrate Valentine's Day, Netflix held a fan event celebrating the "Season of Love," and it introduced the first look at Season 4's main couple, Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek.

One does not have to like Valentine's Day to love romantic series. Though, to be fair, and just like Christmas in December, something about February does make one want to swoon a bit more. It's fun, potentially heartbreaking, and worth the risk.
Thankfully, we can also live in pretend worlds where there is a bunch of romance, too. Those happen on TV shows, of course. Or streaming shows. (You don't have to have a TV for those.)
Below are four exceedingly romantic series that are worth a watch. You can do this alone or with someone else. Either way, you will have a good time.

Urban loneliness is strange. Despite being surrounded by people who could potentially make our empty lives whole, most of us are stuck dining alone. We are so incredibly awkward about our need for people that when we get a glimmer of hope in finding someone, we cannot refocus our gaze on anything else. In James Sweeney’s “Twinless,” two men bond with each other after meeting at a bereavement group that is catered to people who have lost their twins – both of them craving for the oneness in someone who is an exact copy of them – someone who understands the DNA that propels them to be who they are.

There are a number of factors that make Gilmore Girlsa timeless show that is perfect for rewatching, from the cozy town of Stars Hollow to the sharp and fast-paced dialogue. What truly makes the show so special are its characters, though. Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) are such complex and nuanced characters that their lives are always entertaining to watch, and that there is never a shortage of debate when it comes to the show.

Tubi introduces “The Z-Suite Season 1” as its first original scripted comedy, a project led by creator and writer Katie O’Brien. Set within a prestigious advertising agency known as Atelier, the series presents a workplace where seasoned advertising professionals face the modern methods of a young social media team.
The narrative centers on a dramatic reversal of roles: an established agency head finds her long-held authority challenged by a youthful, tech-savvy group that operates from both formal office spaces and remote settings across New York City.
The series unfolds in an environment marked by high stakes and rapid digital shifts. Traditional corporate practices collide with contemporary communication styles, a clash made evident through characters whose daily routines and work habits underscore clear generational contrasts. A satirical and irreverent tone runs through each episode, with humor that scrutinizes the norms of corporate life.

After weeks of internet theorizing, Severance fans are finally getting (some) answers.
In this week’s episode, “Woe’s Hollow” (now streaming on Apple TV+), the Lumon Macrodata Refinement team embarks on a snowy overnight retreat, one that deepens the show’s overall mythology and has major implications for everyone involved, including Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower), whose personal connection takes a turn. Where the team, which also includes Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro), goes in the wake of the episode’s shocking revelations is ultimately anyone’s guess, but the Emmy-winning puzzle box show’s remarkable ability to connect with and surprise viewers on a consistent basis makes Severance the awards contender to watch this weekend.

Patricia Arquette recently told “Severance” co-star Adam Scott during a game of “Hot Ones Versus” that her actor ex-husband once screwed her over after they made a pact about doing sex scenes in movies and television shows.
“I was married to somebody at the time and we were very young and impressionable people,” Arquette said. “We made a deal that we were going to eat garlic if we had to do love scenes, so I ate garlic before I had to kiss Ewan McGregor and I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry, but I told my husband I was going to have to eat some garlic.’”
“Then he had to do a love scene and I’m like, ‘Well, did you eat garlic?’ He’s like, ‘I thought we were kidding,’” she continued. “I was like, ‘What?!’”

In her 30 years at the Atelier Advertising agency, Monica (Lauren Graham) has climbed the ladder of success. As we meet her, she’s CEO, she’s winning industry awards and she’s working on a commercial for Boppin’ Burgers to run during the Super Bowl. She’s even throwing a party at the office for the launch of a new campaign for Vibezz headphones! As everyone gathers to watch it air on TV, Monica seems unaware of its deficits. Playing into stereotypes — a Black guy breakdancing to hip-hop; a monk listening to vaguely Eastern New Age music — is bad; closing the spot with the slogan “All Vibezz Matter” is much worse. The office’s social media team, all young twentysomethings, probably would have tried to stop this ad from getting to air if they’d been involved in the creative process, but they weren’t, which is a mistake the...

In 2023, Tubi made its Super Bowl debut with a viral ad that had viewers questioning whether their feed went down in the middle of a face-off between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
“The goal on that night was just to make people aware of what Tubi was. We had very low awareness,” chief marketing officer Nicole Parlapiano told TheWrap. “I just wanted people to know our name, and I wanted to stand out.”
Two years later, the Chiefs and Eagles are facing off yet again — but Tubi is in a very different place, simulcasting the big game in 4K for the first time as part of a Fox Sports takeover on Feb. 9.
The free, ad-supported streaming platform, which was acquired by Fox Corp. for $440 million in 2020, has grown to 97 million monthly active users — who streamed 10 billion hours of programming in 2024 — and is on track to cross the $1 billion revenue mark this fiscal year.

Prepare to see a reunion between “Gilmore Girls” alums Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino.
“There are a couple things that we’ve been talking about,” Graham told TheWrap.
For the actor who portrayed Lorelai, the ongoing success of “Gilmore Girls” “continues to surprise me.” “We have the 25th anniversary coming up [in October], and I know there will be some events or celebrations or acknowledgements or however we’re going to mark that. All you can do is be grateful and amazed,” she said.
Because of her love for the series and Lorelai, the star finds it “gratifying” that people continue to find The WB original, which is available to stream on Netflix and Hulu. She noted that there was a timeless quality to the series “except for some of our fashions” and praised the comedy for having the “nicest fans in the world.”
“I feel it engenders a community of kindness.

“The Z-Suite” isn’t the first time Lauren Graham has helped a new network launch one of its flagship shows.
“When we did ‘Gilmore Girls,’ The WB was pretty new, so I thought it was cool to be part of a new platform,” Graham told TheWrap. The mother-daughter comedy-drama was the 16th original series to premiere on The WB and later became one of its most popular shows.
“Back then, I don’t think I understood pressure in the same way,” Graham said. “I got to an upfront where they told us we were up against ‘Friends.’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s the literal opposite of pressure because no one expects us to do anything numbers wise.'”
Twenty-five years later, Graham is back in a similar position as the lead of Tubi’s very first entry into the world of scripted television, “The Z-Suite.” But unlike in the 2000s,...

Oi with the poodles already! 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the first time Lorelai Gilmore walked into Luke’s Diner, talking a million miles a minute and immediately launching one of the most beloved shows ever. And just as the fans are no doubt ready to revisit Stars Hollow, Lauren Graham might also be open to a Gilmore Girls return.
While Gilmore Girls fans did get the four-episode A Year in the Life in 2016, it’s now been nine years — the same length between the conclusion of the original series and that miniseries. Appearing on The Tonight Show, Graham was asked if reprising Lorelei is something she would consider. “I always say yes because it’s the best part I ever had and I love doing it…it’s just that thing where it was the perfect material at the perfect time with the perfect writer and it just means so much to me…...

Tubi is tackling the corporate age gap in its first original scripted comedy The Z-Suite, led by Gilmore Girls favorite Lauren Graham and Superstore vet Nico Santos. Created by Katie O’Brien, the series tracks the fall of advertising big shot, Monica Marks (Graham), whose house of cards with loyal exec Doug Garcia (Santos) comes tumbling down after a disastrous ad campaign fumble. Seen as out of touch in their approach, Monica and Doug are pushed aside for their Gen Z counterparts, giving social media manager Kriska Thompson (Madison Shamoun) a shot at the top. The concept proves that while generations may be very different in approaches, their struggles are ultimately somewhat similar as Monica and Doug face a new uphill battle and Kriska and fellow Gen Zers must adapt to the crushing weight of top-level responsibility. The project came to Graham in a hotel lobby when her agent called. “I always read things so fast,...

Twinless starts like a prototypical Sundance movie––grim and serious, plus unexpected levity. That’s the general formula for a festival that might as well have manufactured the term “dramedy.” In this case there’s an offscreen car accident and quick cut to a funeral. Roman (Dylan O’Brien) stands grieving beside his mother (Lauren Graham) as the casket containing his gay identical twin brother, Rocky, is lowered into the ground. It’s a somber affair––tears, tissues, a violinist’s rendition of “Danny Boy”––until the song pauses abruptly on a false note, engendering awkward silence. It’s the first permission you have to laugh, then to recognize the faint absurdity of a gathering in which mourners approach Roman and bawl at his uncanny likeness to the deceased.

Writer-director James Sweeney is no stranger to novel concepts that walk a tonal and thematic tightrope. In his 2019 feature-length directorial debut, Straight Up, he starred as a young gay man so turned off by sex that he seeks a relationship with a woman, turning a silly and potentially retrograde setup into an anti-rom-com exploration of contemporary sexual identity, Ocd, and the modern complexities of finding love. Sweeney brings the same keenly observational millennial eye to his sophomore feature, Twinless, a bizarrely moving and darkly comic story about feeling like you’ve lost something you never had.
Twinless opens at a funeral, with the straight Roman (Dylan O’Brien) and his mother (Lauran Graham) receiving mourners after the death of Roman’s twin brother, Rocky (also O’Brien). Struggling with the loss of his other half, the shy Roman joins a bereavement support group for siblings processing the death of a twin,...
