As of 2016, has appeared in four films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: Rain Man (1988), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), No Country for Old Men (2007) and The Artist (2011). With the exception of Little Miss Sunshine (2006), the other three are winners in the category.

She is the great, great niece, by marriage, of Joel Chandler Harris, who wrote the Uncle Remus Tales on which Disney's Song of the South (1946) was based.

She is only 4 1/2 years older than Dennis Quaid who plays her son in The Rookie (2002).

She was part of the cast of two films that won the SAG Best Ensemble Award two years in a row with Little Miss Sunshine (2006) and No Country for Old Men (2007). However, her name wasn't included for those awards due to an eligibility rule from SAG that only nominates/awards actors in ensemble when their names get a sole credit during the titles, and not along with other cast member.

When she was a little girl, she wanted to be a veterinarian and a movie star. Her sister-in-law is Dr. Mary Grant, a veterinarian for the state of North Carolina.

Has, at current count, four cats and one dog.

Beth has a brother named Bubba who lives in North Carolina and is a graduate of ECU, Beth's Alma Mater.
