Terry Manning, a music producer and engineer who collaborated with Led Zeppelin, Big Star, and Zz Top, died at his home in El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday. He was 77.
Just two weeks earlier, a jovial Manning recalled working with Jimmy Page and other giants of the music biz in an interview spanning his career from El Paso to Memphis, the Bahamas, and back. At the time of his death, he was still actively recording artists at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, 30 miles east of his hometown.

When you think back to cinema in the 1990s, there's a lot that the decade had to offer. There were some groundbreaking horror movies, a plethora of action classics, and, of course, a ton of romantic comedies that focused on young adults finding themselves, and each other. Two of the big stars to come out of the decade were undoubtedly Julia Stiles and Freddie Prinze Jr., who were paired together in the year 2000 for the film Down to You, which Stiles now says was completely ruined by disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.
Appearing on Brett Goldstein's Films to Be Buried With podcast, Stiles spoke about her time on the set of Down to You, which was directed by Kris Isacsson and starred her and Prinze Jr. as young lovers who meet in college and go through the ups and downs of a relationship. She called the script – which Isacsson also wrote – "very good,...

Netflix’s The Electric State, directed by the Russo brothers, brings a retro-futuristic adventure to the screen with a soundtrack packed with ‘90s classics. With a mix of action, emotion, and robotic companions, the film blends visual spectacle with music that underscores its themes.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) condemned the Democratic party after they protested at President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress.
“A sad cavalcade of self-owns and unhinged petulance,” Fetterman wrote on X, referring to these protests. “It only makes Trump look more presidential and restrained. We’re becoming the metaphorical car alarms that nobody pays attention to – and it may not be the winning message.”

During his first joint address to Congress on March 4, Trump discussed his efforts to slash the federal workforce, start mass deportations, impose steep tariffs on America’s largest trading partners and reorganize the transatlantic alliance over the war in Ukraine.
Even though the president received loud applause from Republicans, he was also met with signs of protest from Democrats.

John Oliver recapped Donald Trump‘s joint session of Congress speech on the Sunday, March 9, episode of Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. During his monologue, he specifically addressed Democrats’ reaction to the president’s address. Pointing out that some Democratic politicians didn’t even show for the joint session, the late night host said, “In hindsight, no-showing might have been the right more because Democrats in the room didn’t seem to have a coordinated plan to respond. Some dressing in matching outfits while others held up signs on paddles.” He then referenced Democratic Rep. Al Green, who was removed from the chamber after disrupting Trump’s remarks, and how ten Democrats voted to censure him after the outburst “despite similar protests during [Joe] Biden’s term triggering no such repercussions.” Oliver continued, “That move was in keeping with centrist democrats’ current insistence on bending over backwards to cater to conservatives.

John Oliver spent the opening segment of Sunday’s Last Week Tonight talking about President Donald Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress last week and the Democrats’ response to it.
The HBO host began by noting House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) had said before the speech that he wanted to “frame it in gilded gold.”
Oliver’s response: “This isn’t important, but gilding is a technique where you cover things that are not gold in a thin layer of gold to make them look like gold. So you wouldn’t gild gold because gold is gold already. It’d be like [Vice President] J.D. Vance wearing a T-shirt that says ‘unbearable bitch’ on it. It is simply redundant.”
The Last Week Tonight host noted that some Democrats didn’t show up for the speech, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-n.Y) and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.).

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-ma) blasted Marco Rubio as well as “co-Presidents” Donald Trump and Elon Musk as she defended the haphazard response of Democratics at Trump’s address last week during a SXSW live taping of podcast On With Kara Swisher.
Musk is close to Trump and oversees the newly created Department of Government Efficiency.
Warren likes to talk and does it well but, rather ominously, there was one question she declined to answer.
“Are you yourself scared of personal retribution?” Swisher asked. “I mean, it’s all fun and games with your name and stuff like that, but you yourself, you just answered a question about troops attacking Americans. Are you yourself fearful of your safety?

Sara Haines is not usually the most fired up host of “The View,” but on Friday morning she went off on both Republicans and Democrats, yelling at them to “stop fighting like little wieners.”
The outburst came as the ABC hosts discussed the censuring of Democratic Rep. Al Green this week, after he protested Donald Trump on the House floor during the president’s joint address. The motion to censure was approved, with 10 Democrats voting yes on the move, which stunned host Sunny Hostin.
“Representative Green gave them the example, the Democrats are not meeting the moment,” Hostin said angrily, encouraging moderator Joy Behar (leading the discussion as Whoopi Goldberg is off on Fridays) to read the names of all 10 Democrats.

The first two “Hot Topics” on Friday’s (March 7) new edition of The View brought out some serious fire from cohost Sunny Hostin. The subject of Representative Al Green‘s censure in Congress was the opener, and no one was more impassioned about it than Hostin. Moderator Joy Behar introduced the story with clips of Green interrupting Donald Trump‘s address to Congress to state that he doesn’t have a mandate to reduce Medicaid and House Speaker Mike Johnson then saying it wasn’t “proper decorum” and does “damage” to the institution of Congress. To that, Behar asked, “What about an insurrection? Does that do damage to the institution?” As Behar showed footage of some Democrats joining Green in a chorus of song to show support for him amid the censure vote, she also noted that 10 Democrats voted alongside Republicans on the matter, and Hostin then tossed her a page of notes,...

Rep. Al Green (D-tx) was censured by the House of Representatives for disrupting President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.
In one of the highlights of a raucous House chamber during Trump’s speech, Green was removed when he refused to stop interrupting Trump. Green shouted that the president did not have a mandate to cut Medicaid.
The vote today was 224-198 to censure Green, with 10 Democrats joining Republicans on the resolution. After the vote, Democrats surrounded Green and sang, “We Shall Overcome.” Some members continued to argue with Republicans.
Green voted “present.”
On Wednesday, Green told reporters, “The president said that he had a mandate, and I was making it clear to the president that he has no mandate to cut Medicaid.”
Green said that his tactics “is the best way to get across to a person who uses incivility against our civility.

Another moment from President Donald Trump‘s joint address to Congress on Tuesday (March 4) is going viral.
In a viral video, the 78-year-old President can be seen shaking hands with Supreme Court justices and thanking them, but when he got to Chief Justice John Roberts, he had something else to say, which has been raising eyebrows.
Keep reading to find out more…
“Thank you again. Thank you again. Won’t forget,” Trump told Roberts while shaking hands, before he also patted him on the shoulder. Watch the moment below!
It’s not fully known what Trump was referring to him, but it does come after the Supreme Court has made several decisions in his favor since he took office back in January.
Last year, the Supreme Court also ruled that Trump‘s involvement in the January 6th insurrection at The Capitol did not disqualify him from running for president for another term.

Stephen Colbert went live on CBS’ Late Show Tuesday night, sharing his hot take on President Donald Trump’s primetime address to a joint session of Congress earlier that night.
And while Colbert took aim at a number of Trump’s claims, he also had a few barbs for the Democrats, a number of whom used props and fuchsia clothing to signal their opposition to the GOP president.

He added, “That is how you save democracy. By quietly dissenting — or bidding on an antique tea set, it was hard to tell what was going on.”
But, seriously, Colbert said he was inspired by their resistance and made his own sign. He then held up a little circle paddle that said,...

Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress was about what you would expect it to be: full of boasts and grand pronouncements, laced with long-debunked claims and sprinkled with moments for reality TV attention spans.
In the chamber, the atmosphere for Tuesday’s speech was much more caustic this time around, not just for Trump, who chided Democrats for not getting on board and applauding him, and the opposition party, with many of the members booing and brandishing signs calling out the president and Elon Musk. One member, Rep. Al Green (D-tx), was booted from the chamber after he refused to sit down and stop heckling at the outset of Trump’s address.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert went live following President Donald Trump's speech to Congress on Tuesday night. And while Stephen Colbert had plenty to say about the president, he also called out Democrats.
The late-night TV host didn't waste anytime mocking the Democrats in Congress. He wasn't exactly impressed by the "props" they brought to protest, including white boards and pocket Constitutions.
Colbert only really applauded Democrats when Representative Al Green disrupted Trump's speech and was asked to leave. The Late Show host joked that Rep. Green was asked to leave because he had "smuggled in a spine."
Democrats in the House and Senate also made headlines for the small signs they held up during Trump's speech. The paddles sent messages like "Save Medicaid," "False," and "Musk Steals."
This stunt wasn't exactly how Colbert would like to see Democrats push back against the Trump administration and its policies.

President Donald Trump‘s speech to Congress started off with some protesting.
On Tuesday (March 4), Trump, 78, gave his first speech inside the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC since his inauguration in January.
Shortly after Trump started his speech, Rep. Al Green was removed from the chamber after he refused to sit down and shouted things at the president from his spot.
The 77-year-old congressman, who is an 11-term Democrat from Texas, shook his cane at Trump while yelling that he should be impeached.
“You have no mandate!” Green shouted at Trump, after he said that the 2024 presidential election against former Vice President Kamala Harris was “a mandate like has not been seen in many decades.”

President Donald Trump addressed Congress for a very long time on Tuesday. It was the longest time ever, in fact, that a president has addressed lawmakers, breaking the record previously held by President Bill Clinton in 2000. Trump’s speech was filled with misinformation, jabs at Democrats, and, more than anything, droning campaign-style bluster as he touted what he described as his historic effort to lead the United States into a new “golden age.”

Al Green, a U.S. representative from Texas’ 9th congressional district, was removed from President Trump’s Tuesday night joint session of Congress after repeatedly interrupting the president’s speech.
Only a few minutes into President Trump’s address, Green stood up from his seat and shouted, “You have no mandate to cut Medicaid,” inciting boos from the Republican side of Congressional Hall. Republicans then began chanting, “USA, USA, USA,” as Green shouted again at President Trump, “You have no right to cut Medicaid.”
Trump tried to continue his speech, but the noisy discourse continued, forcing House Speaker Mike Johnson to issue a warning: “Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the house and to cease any further disruptions. That’s your warning. Members are engaging in willful and continuing breach of decorum, and the chair is prepared to direct the sergeant at arms to restore order to the joint session.

The well-trodden streets of downtown Memphis are known for its echoes of iconic blues legends and smoky aroma of some of the best barbecue in the country. Music and food are known to bring people together no matter their creed, and for local band Southern Avenue, their city is an open invitation to join in the revelry. “I think when people come to Memphis, they may be starting a new journey,” says drummer Tikyra “Tk” Jackson. “It may be trying to start over, but one thing about it is once you are here,...

The Nice Guys, directed and written by Shane Black, was not a flop by any means. It accrued generally positive reviewsand profited around $12 million. Still, it was not as much of a hit as it should have been. Other movies have become classics for much less. Except for perhaps sometimes being confused with Will Ferrell's The Other Guys, another buddy action movie, there is no real identifiable reason why this film has flown so far under the radar for so long.
The Nice Guys stars beloved actors Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, as well as features performances from the likes of Margaret Qualley (a rather buzzworthy name this year following her star-making turn in The Substance), Matt Bomer (Magic Mike), and Angourie Rice (Mean Girls), to name a few. With a story that feels like if Boogie Nights and Lethal Weapon had a baby (which is fitting considering Black...

Morgan Freeman surprised the patrons at his Mississippi bar Ground Zero on New Year’s Eve by joining music legend Al Green onstage for a rendition of “Let’s Stay Together.”
The Oscar winner — dressed in a white turtle neck and black jacket — took the stage to sing a few notes from the classic, 1971 song. “‘Cause you make me feel so brand new,” sang Green, before Freeman joined in: “Let me say that since, baby, since we’ve been together/Ooh, loving you forever.”

The Golden Bachelorette stars Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are so in love, and it's possible that they'll elope in the Big Apple. These two people have really lived - in fact, both were very unlucky, losing long-term partners to cancer. Since they've grieved, they understand what's really important in life - love. As both have been married before, they may decide to skip the big wedding and enjoy a quick and simple ceremony that's about joyful commitment, rather than pleasing Bachelor Nation fans.
Joan and Chock's New York City love shack could be a reality pretty soon, as they recently told E! Online that they found an ideal home in Soho. With that in mind, they may decide that eloping in that cosmopolitan city is an ultra-romantic decision. During his chat with E! Online on Dec. 7, Chock bemoaned the fact that "inventory" was low this winter. However, they did find something suitable,...

Warning! Spoilers about Virgin River season 6, episode 10 ahead.
The soundtrack of Virgin River season 6 includes iconic songs and less prominent ones that fully capture the themes and atmosphere of the emotional drama romance. Taking off months after the two-part Christmas special that comprised the last two episodes of season 5, Virgin River season 6 kicked off in the midst of the planning for Mel and Jack’s wedding. The major event guaranteed small and bigger bumps in the road related to its organization and the bigger problems the joyful town of Virgin River’s characters found themselves facing, including illnesses, daring saves, problems with the law and budding relationships.
With Virgin River season 5 introducing the surprise of Mel’s biological father hailing from Virgin River, a major storyline in season 6 involved the two getting to know each other, and music played an important part because of Everett’s hobby and his unfinished song for Sarah,...

“Virgin River” is all about the ambiance. The cozy romance transports viewers to a tight-knit community tucked away in the scenic town of Virgin River, but the sounds are just as important as the sights in setting that scene. Especially in Season 6!
Netflix’s “Virgin River” always sets its scenes to a soundtrack full of folksy melodies and gentle acoustics, but Season 6 puts music front and center in the love story between Mel’s biological parents, which transports viewers back to Virgin River in the ’70s when her father was an aspiring musician. It even prominently features an original song by The Lumineers’ Wesley Schultz titled “This Heart of Mine.”
It’s a jam-packed soundtrack as usual, so if you’re trying to keep track of the needle drops, here’s a handy guide to all the songs in “Virgin River” Season 6.

Season 12 of “The Masked Singer” continued Wednesday night on Fox with “Quarter Finals.” Following the studio audience vote that sent Goo and Strawberry Shortcake into a fierce Smackdown, Strawberry Shortcake emerged victorious leaving Goo to be unmasked. The slimy singer became the 11th eliminated singer of the season, and was revealed to be Los Angeles Rams defensive end Kobie Turner. Watch our video interview above.
“I had so much fun,” he tells Gold Derby. “Being able to be up under the Goo mask was such a great time. To be able to be my silly self, break out all the dance moves, and just be able to carry around that heavy costume. When it came to the singing part, it definitely presented some challenges breath-wise, but to be able to lunk around in that big costume was so much fun.”

“Let’s do this shit.”
Kyle Mooney (“SNL”) is so personally invested in supporting his new A24 film “Y2K,” he’s taking viewers on a journey back to his life in 1999. A typical Mooney day back then included hacky sack, skateboarding, chillin’ at the mall, and downing some Mickey’s Big Mouth — if he could get someone of age to buy it for him, that is.
In addition to the meta day-in-the-life video, in which ’99 Mooney shares his desperation to have a viral moment in 2024, “Y2K” now includes a functional “microsite” in promotion for the film. Check it out here.
On the very-1999-looking website designed to look like your PC desktop, visitors can set an Away Message, burn a CD of ’90s jams, and talk about the old days with an AI chat bot.
The chat bot lives in 1999, but is very much built by 2024 technology — it’s a trip.

Al Green delivers a stirring take on R.E.M.’s classic 1992 ballad “Everybody Hurts” for his latest single.
Green leans into the original’s swaying soul groove, adding a booming choir and allowing the strings to reach the heights necessary to match his still potent vocals as he sings: “Don’t throw your hand, oh no/Don’t throw your hand/If you feel like you’re alone/No, no, no, you are not alone.”

Soul legend Al Green is back to share his cover of R.E.M.’s 1992 hit “Everybody Hurts.”
Green definitely makes his rendition of “Everybody Hurts” his own. His signature baritone aches across the two chord groove, making his way through the verses at his own pace. Now 78-years-old, Green taps into his gospel roots while also fueling the song with a lifetime of experience.
“While we were in the studio recording ‘Everybody Hurts,’ I could really feel the heaviness of the song and I wanted to inject a little touch of hope and light into it,” Green says in a statement. “There’s always a presence of light that can break through those times of darkness.”
R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe even lent his approval. “Speaking on behalf of the entire band — we could not be more honored, more flattered, more humbled,” he said. “This is an epic moment for us.” Stream...

It’s Barbie night on “The Masked Singer” this week, but panelist Robin Thicke thinks maybe a different franchise star might be under the Goo mask — possibly a major Marvel star.
In TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek at Wednesday night’s episode, Goo shows off his own Malibu dream house to the panel, saying it’s “pretty fitting for Robin, because I know he’s a fan.”
From there, Robin goes through a few names he’s definitely a fan of and whom also live near him in Malibu. Among them? Robert Downey Jr. and Gerard Butler.
But Ken Jeong has some other ideas of who might be under the Goo mask.
“I’ve been on the road with Robin, I know how much you love this person I’m about to say: Al Green,” he guesses, earning a laugh from Thicke and boos from the crowd.
