Hacksaw Ridge is a 2016 biographical war movie about Desmond T. Doss - a veteran of WW2 and a conscientious objector who serves as the combat medic for the 77th Infantry Division. Ridiculed for his faith and consigned as the company coward, Doss goes above and beyond when his division becomes trapped on Hacksaw Ridge with only him left to keep the injured men alive.

The movie, directed by Mel Gibson and written by Robert Schenkkan and Andrew Knight, was nominated for six Academy Awards, of which it won two. Hacksaw Ridge is a brilliant and brutal look into the nature of war and worthy of a stream, and given it's coming to a streaming platform soon, Peacock subscribers can take to viewing it as Doss took to saving lives, "Give me one more!" While the early 2000s to mid-2010s had several long-running, beloved teen dramas, the streaming era has led to a rut for the genre, with most teen-centered shows struggling to find their footing. Despite several teen dramas premiering in the last five years, none have managed to maintain the audiences of their predecessors.

A big reason many prefer to rewatch old teen dramas than give newer shows a chance is the inevitable chance of an early cancelation. Several teen dramas, new and old, are canceled way too soon, not being given the chance to build up an audience over time. Oscar-winning duo Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe are to direct and executive produce “Sk8 or Die: The Lee Ralph Story.” The upcoming series is an anthology exploring the wild and highly unique life of Lee Ralph, a former pro skateboarder turned folk hero and recluse.

Vinnie Bennett and Oscar-nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes are set to lead the cast, with Bennet portraying Ralph and Castle-Hughes playing his sister and partner in crime Kim Ralph.

The six-part show was hatched by New Zealand-based production company Tavake (“Madam”). Skateboarding ace Tony Hawk and “Jackass” touring comedian and skate culture legend, Steve-o are on board to executive produce. Free and Roe executive produce under their The Unreasnble banner.

Tavake principals Tom Hern and Halaifonua (Nua) Finau (“The Panthers,” “Red White and Brass”) co-wrote the series and will serve as showrunners. Hern will also direct some episodes. Julian Arahanga will act as a producer for Tavake.

Jon Bell’s psychological horror The Moogai has scooped the CinefestOZ Film Prize Award of $66,500 – Australia’s most lucrative prize for a local production.

The award was given on Saturday (September 7) at the 17th CinefestOZ Film Festival in Busselton, Western Australia and accepted by co-producer Alex White and actor Meyne Wyatt.

British thriller “The Gathering” won the Golden Nymph Award for best fiction series at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival Tuesday, and the show’s leads Eva Morgan and Warren Brown picked up the best actress and actor prizes.

The show centers on two teenage athletes from opposite sides of the tracks in Liverpool. It was created by Helen Walsh, produced by World Productions and was commissioned by Channel 4.

Walsh thanked World Productions and Channel 4 “for supporting regional voices to tell regional stories and also my home city of Liverpool for providing the stories, the locations and the magic.”

Set a date night: The big-screen romantic comedy Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, will be available to stream on Netflix beginning Tuesday, April 23, the streamer announced on Twitter.
