Sometimes the most memorable characters are the ones no one expects. When Gilmore Girls premiered on the WB in 2000, of course, the standouts were Lauren Graham and newcomer Alexis Bledel as Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. As the series progressed and found its footing and voice, other side characters began to stand out as well. In the Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino created series, one of those standouts was Kirk Gleason, played by Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). Gunn starred in Gilmore Girls originally here and there, but as the series developed, so did Kirk as the quirky, make-you-scratch-your-head, "that's Kirk" every man we knew by the final season.

Wherever the cast of Gilmore Girls lead, the questions about whether the series will ever return for more in some capacity will inevitably follow. After the four-episode Netflix revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life dropped in November 2016, fans of the beloved series have been anxious for the story to continue, but apart from the cast saying they'd return in a heartbeat, there have been no concrete plans for a new iteration of the dramedy.

The wait for Creature Commandos Season 2 may not be as long as some fans were expecting. Showrunner Dean Lorey recently confirmed that development has already begun on the next season of the adult animated series.

Speaking with The Direct to promote Harley Quinn Season 5, Lorey confirmed that the writers' room has already reassembled to figure out the story for next season. "Yeah. I mean, it's still early days, but we are actively working on breaking the season and starting to figure that out. So it's definitely moving forward," he exclaimed. "I mean, it's like, they put it on a fast track, and they seem to mean it. So, yeah, we're in it."Creature Commandos was renewed for a second season by Max and DC Studios in December 2024.

Exclusive: Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), Michael Abbott Jr. (Fallout) and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) have wrapped on Appofeniacs, an indie horror film from writer-director Chris Marrs Piliero.

Appofeniacs is a riff on the term “apophenia” which is the tendency to find connections or patterns in things that are unrelated or random — common examples being confirmation bias and paranoia. This marks the feature debut for Piliero, who is known for his music video work with Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Kesha, and The Black Keys (for which he won an MTV VMA).

Piliero independently financed and produced the film, which also stars Will Brandt, Paige Searcy, Simran Jehani, Harley Bronwyn, and Sean Wing. Gunn exec produced the pic, with Salvatore Schiavone and Jonathan Voluck handling casting.

While many DC fans are disappointed with the lack of new content for Superman, we weren't ever promised a trailer and there's still a slim chance something could be released during the Super Bowl. We wouldn't bank it on, though.

"Guy Gardner is 90% flawed and doesn’t care. That’s one of his flaws," Fillion previously said of the character. "I think there’s a real freedom in playing that.

The actress, who played Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, opposite Alexis Bledel, for seven seasons, was recently asked on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon if she would return for a potential reboot.

Speaking at the Saturn Awards, Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña gave new information on his upcoming return in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC universe — exciting news for those excited to see more from Jaime Reyes.

Back in June, Deadline confirmed that a Blue Beetle animated series, featuring Maridueña, was in the works. This comes after Maridueña starred as the titular Blue Beetle in the character's 2023 movie, one of the last DC Extended Universe (or SnyderVerse) movies to release before the switch to Gunn.

Creature Commandos stars an ensemble cast that includes Indira Varma, Sean Gunn, Alan Tudyk, Zoe Chao, David Harbour and Frank Grillo. The series sees Amanda Waller assembling a black ops team of monsters led by Rick Flag that includes the Bride, Clayface, Doctor Phosphorus and others. Despite the fact even the most die-hard DC readers might not have been overly familiar with the show's leads, Task Force M quickly struck a chord with fans. Now, creator and writer James Gunn has revealed some familiar - and not-so-familiar - names who failed to make the cut.

Clayface's remains were still splattered across the room when Amanda Waller showed up and he looked very dead. However, Creature Commandos was produced before James Gunn greenlit Mike Flanagan's Clayface movie - set for release on September 11, 2026 - and that now complicates things somewhat.

There have been multiple versions of the villain and Gunn has set the record straight by suggesting Clayface managed to survive that run-in with his fellow monster.

The first season of the Max original series follows the exploits of Task Force M, nicknamed the "Creature Commandos," as they undertake a mission in Pokolistan, where things take a surprise twist that none of them saw coming.

As is always the case with Gunn's films and series, Creature Commandos introduces audiences to a colorful cast of characters who grow more complex as time goes by. Gunn has confirmed that some of these characters will be making the jump to live-action in later installments of the Dcu, though he has kept the identities of these individuals secret. Nevertheless, there are certain characters in particular that audiences would like to see return in the Dcu.

Gilmore Girls has many hilarious side characters, from Kirk (Sean Gunn) with his many jobs to the lovable and overly enthusiastic Babette (Sally Struthers). These characters fill out the colorful town of Stars Hollow, making Gilmore Girls the comfy, rewatchable series it is.
