Can you believe it's been 10 years since the first "Saw" hit theaters?! To celebrate the milestone anniversary of one of the highest grossing horror flicks of all-time, we wanted to take a look back at what really went down on the set of the gory movie. To start, all of the creepy bathroom scenes were filmed in the same order they're shown in the movie. This was done to help the actors feel what the characters were experiencing. Yikes! When Amanda (Shawnee Smith) is searching through her cellmates "guts" after stabbing him, she's actually touching a pig's uterus! The only dummy used in the movie was the burnt body of Mark Wilson (Paul Gutrecht), who met his end while trying to save himself from a slow-acting poison in his body. All the other "corpses" were played by cast members. Director/writer James Wan also revealed in the commentary section of...

Fans can re-live the sheer terror from director James Wan' Saw when the modern horror-classic is re-released in theaters for one week only, starting October 31, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its initial release. Five years before Paranormal Activity helped spawn the "micro-budget" genre, Saw took audiences by storm, with this thriller that cost just $1.2 million to make, taking in over $100 million worldwide, and spawning a franchise that included six successful sequels.
Saw starred Leigh Whannell (who co-wrote the script with James Wan) and Cary Elwes as two strangers who wake up trapped in a horrifying dungeon, as they are forced to follow the intricate rules of a killer known only as Jigsaw, if they want to make it out alive.

The original 2004 horror classic Saw is returning to theaters this Halloween for its tenth anniversary celebration. Shock Till You Drop recently sat down with producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules, and it was soon revealed that an all-new Saw is in the planning stages with the original creators.
While first-time director James Wan never jumped behind the camera for any of the sequels, he did go onto make his mark with other horror hits and action thrillers including the franchise spawning Insidious and The Conjuring, as well as Death Sentence and the upcoming Fast & Furious 7. His writing partner Leigh Whannell has done equally as well, writing and producing a number of box office hits, appearing in some of them as an actor, and setting out to make his directorial debut with Insidious Chapter 3. Now, it sounds like the duo are ready to return to the one that started it all.

A Halloween tradition returns next month as the original Saw heads back to theaters for a one-week engagement in celebration of its 10th anniversary starting October 31st.
Relive the horror of what the Guinness Book of World Records hails as the "Most Successful Horror Franchise" of all time with a brand new trailer and poster in celebration of Jigaw's triumphant return. After securing $874 million at the box office worldwide over the past decade, the one that started it all is ready to scare a whole new generation of fans.
Saw was the first collaboration for co-creators James Wan, who directed the film, and Leigh Whannell, who wrote the screenplay. Together, they also created the successful Insidious franchise, and Wan has gone on to direct such high-profile films as The Conjuring and the upcoming Fast & Furious 7. But nothing comes close to the terror held within the framework of the very first Saw!

Although Saw 3D hinted that the franchise was far from over, Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns recently interviewed with CNBC and revealed that the Saw franchise may indeed be resurrected.
"We have a bunch of franchises, I'm sure some day you'll see Saw back in the picture." the vice chairman said, speaking on the inevitable return of Jigsaw.
Can Lionsgate survive on The Hunger Games , The Expendables and Tyler Perry movies alone? Let's face it. The studio needs Jigsaw.

James Wan and Leigh Whannell were recently at the Kapow Comic-Con event in London to promote their new movie Insidious, where they revealed that they might return to the Saw franchise. Here's what Leigh Whannell said about what it would take for them to return to Jigsaw's world.
"We would want to do something that is a bit of a different take. That's probably what it would take."
James Wan and Leigh Whannell directed and wrote the original Saw in 2004, although their involvement in the sequels was mainly limited to executive producer roles. While Saw 3D is believed to be the last installment, James Wan believes the franchise will return.
"I would say you can always count on capitalism, guys. That's all I have to say. It is finished for now, but the fact that it's such a huge, well-known franchise, means that it's going to come back at some point.

Original creator Leigh Whannell is open to continuing the franchise down the road, once he dabbles in other genres first
We recently spoke to original Saw creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell about their new haunted house thriller Insidious, which is in theaters this Friday. Of course we had to ask them about the continuation of Saw. This past October, Lionsgate gleefully promised that Saw 3D would be the final film in this lucrative horror series. But as we suspected, that may not be true.
In fact, Leigh Whannell is very open to returning to the Saw franchise somewhere down the road, once he gets a political horror comedy made, and a children's fantasy film off the ground first.
Here is what he had to say.
I know you have been asked this question ten thousand times, but do you guys ever think you will come back to Saw? This...

Creators of the original Saw, James Wan and Leigh Whannell are behind this new haunted house thriller, in cinemas this Friday
Director James Wan is most notorious for co-creating the now-legendary slasher franchise Saw with his writing partner/actor Leigh Whannell. Instead of going onto direct that first film's sequel, the Australian duo instead decided to do something very few breakout horror mavens ever attempt in their entire career. They jumped genres to co-write and direct the supernatural murder mystery Dead Silence, which was soon followed by the suspenseful revenge flick Death Sentence, starring Kevin Bacon.
This Friday, James Wan and Leigh Whannell return to their true horror roots with their first ever haunted house thriller Insidious, which is drawing swift comparisons to Poltergeist and The Exorcist. Insidious stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne as a married couple who come to believe their house is haunted after their son falls into a deep coma.
