- Karel Hermánek was the director of the Theater Without Rails and the Municipal Theater in Karlovy Vary. For this, he regularly collaborated with film and television.
- He met the presenter and TV announcer Hana Vávrová in the dubbing studio. After the birth of sons Karel (* 1989) and Josef (* 1990), the actor and the presenter decided to get married.
- When the theater Na Zábradli, where he played, collapsed in 1990, Karel Hermánek founded one of the first private theaters in the country, which he humorously named Divadlo Bez zábradlí ( Theater Without Rails). Part of the original ensemble then moved to the National Theatre.
- Stage director Evald Schorm nvited him to the Theater Na zábradlí. Karel Hermánek played there until 1991 and created his most important theater characters there.
- In 2004, Hermánek acquired the Municipal Theater in Karlovy Vary for rent.
- During and after his studies, he worked in the avant-garde "Theater On a String" with Jirí Bartoska and Pavel Zednícek.

- He studied construction engineering, considered studying architecture and film directing. He eventually took acting entrance exams at FAMU (=Faculty of Film and Television) but was not accepted. He was more successful at JAMU ( =The Janácek Academy of Performing Arts 'JAMU' is a public university with an artistic focus) where he graduated in 1972 with a degree in acting.
- Hermanek was awarded with the prize of the Czech Literary Fund for acting in the production Comenius: Diogenes the Cynic.
- He also dabbled in dubbing, for example he was known as the dubbing character of Doyle in the series Professionals.
- In the years 1973 - 1976 , he worked at the Drama Studio in Ustí nad Labem. There he staged his first play under the direction of director Evald Schorm.
- He received " The Golden Shoe award" for outstanding contribution to cinematography for children and youth at the Zlín Film Festival (2022).
- He received a prize at the IFF in Portugal for the male acting performance in the film Good Light ( 1987 ).
