At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, The Direct had the opportunity to speak with the creators of the upcoming TV series based on Arthur C. Clarke’s ‘Venus Prime’.
Set to start production in Canada later in the year, the series will be directed and produced by Jonathan Frakes, known for his extensive work in the ‘Star Trek’ universe.
The series, which will consist of six episodes, is generating considerable excitement with David Cormican and Dwayne Hill as executive producers and showrunners.
Hill shared his enthusiasm at Sdcc, detailing their innovative use of a large volume wall for filming, which allows extensive pre-visualization and could revolutionize the way the series is shot.
He highlighted Frakes’ expertise with this technology, hinting at the groundbreaking potential of their production techniques.
Cormican described the project as both thrilling and daunting, given the legacy of Arthur C. Clarke, one of the legendary figures in science fiction.

Jonathan Frakes joins the producing team that includes showrunners and executive producers David Cormican (“Tokyo Trial”) and Dwayne Hill (“Northern Rescue”).

Mean Girls 2024 adds a French teacher played by Ashley Park, tying her to her previous role in the Broadway production and potentially referencing her character in Emily in Paris. The addition of the French teacher and other changes in Mean Girls 2024 bring a unique twist to the familiar story and characters. Ashley Park, the only original Broadway cast member in the movie adaptation, has had success in both musical theater and television, making her cameo in Mean Girls 2024 a fitting nod to her career.

The new Mean Girls musical remake puts a hilarious meta spin on the original film's sex ed scene, with Jon Hamm playing an even more outwardly sexist Coach Carr. The 2024 remake blends a modern perspective with the original, avoiding recreating iconic scenes to provide a fresh take that still pays homage to the original. The new approach of the musical remake, as seen in the Coach Carr scene, proves that the new Mean Girls has found a way to mix the original with a modern perspective successfully.
The new Mean Girls film has an opportunity to set itself apart from the beloved 2004 comedy and it does that with a hilarious meta spin on one of the original's most iconic scenes. When it comes to iconic moments, Mean Girls was filled with them, so the new musical remake has many options to adapt two decades later. From wearing pink on Wednesday...

Et spoke to Hamm at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of his new film, “Maggie Moore(s)”, about his co-star and his role in the upcoming “Mean Girls: The Musical” movie.
“Tina is a very confident and capable actress, she’s an amazing person. We’ve known each other for a long time now, and I think we respect each other’s talent and abilities and what we bring to the table,” Hamm said when asked about his on-screen chemistry with Fey.
Directed by Hamm’s “Mad Men” co-star, John Slattery, the film sees Hamm as Police Chief Jordan Sanders, who unravels a web of small-town lies while investigating the bizarre murders of two women with the same name. On Wednesday, Jon Hamm wears pink! The Mad Men and Tag alum is joining the Mean Girls Musical adaptation for Paramount+ as Coach Carr, the gym coach and a grossly misinformed sex-ed teacher at North Shore High School. Initially played by Dwayne Hill in director Mark Waters’ spite-filled comedy, the role gives Hamm a chance to strut his comedic chops.
Paramount’s film adapts the Mean Girls Broadway musical, transforming the 2004 teen comedy into a song-and-dance jubilee of snarky drama, cafeteria whispers, and revenge schemes. Hamm stars alongside Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, and Reneé Rapp in the Mean Girls Musical. Rice plays Cady, originally played by Lindsay Lohan, with Rapp playing Regina, initially played by Rachel McAdams. Cravalho will play Janis, and Spivey will be Damien, originally played by Lizzy Caplan and Daniel Franzese, respectively.
