Final Act images: Hannah Fierman and Douglas Tait take on a masked pickaxe killer
Image
Hannah Fierman and Douglas Tait have both played the killers in horror films, as Fierman is best known for playing Lily the succubus in the horror anthology V/H/S and the spin-off Siren, while Tait has worn the masks of both Jason Voorhees (in the end of Freddy vs. Jason) and Michael Myers (for stunts in Halloween Kills). Now, they’re facing off with a masked killer in the horror film Final Act, which is currently filming at the historic Ritz Theater and other locations in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As the movie makes its way through production, a handful of first-look images have made their way online and can be seen at the bottom of this article.

A co-production between Babe Entertainment, Cannon Fire Productions, and Millman Productions, Final Act concerns paranormal investigators looking into the dark past of a historic theater who find themselves stalked by a mysterious, masked pickaxe killer.

Hellboy (2019) – What Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
The Hellboy 2019 episode of What Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written and Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Narrated by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon and Andrew Hatfield, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

After Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman helped build a loyal fan base with the first two Hellboy films, rebooting the franchise seemed like the next logical step. At least to the studio. Moving forward without the fans’ blessing must’ve conjured up some evil energy, as the production was plagued with so many issues like lightning-fast casting changes, social media backlash, on-set tensions, a creatively stifled director, and a disastrous release, among other nightmares. Break out your “troubled production” bingo card and start crossing off the boxes. This is what happened to Hellboy (2019).

In 1994, artist Mike Mignola sold his prized creation, Hellboy, to Dark Horse Comics. Hellboy wasn’t your average friendly neighborhood superhero. He...

Kyle Richards Didn't Let A Broken Nose Or Snakes Keep Her From Doing Halloween Kills Stunts
Image
"Halloween Kills" might be one of the weaker installments in the long-running "Halloween" franchise, but one of its stars is anything but. The new book "Halloween: The Official Making of Halloween, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends" includes a whole bunch of great behind-the-scenes stories about the new trilogy's production, including one about "Halloween Kills" actor Kyle Richards. Richards, a former child actress who is perhaps now best known as a castmate on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," played Michael Myers survivor Lindsey in the recent David Gordon Green movie (a role she originated in the 1978 classic), and apparently went above and beyond when it came to the film's stunt scenes.

In one scene, according to Abbie Bernstein's book, Richards was tasked with smacking the seemingly invincible killer known as The Shape with a sack of foam meant to be a stand-in for a bag of bricks. The foam...

‘Battle in Space: The Armada Attacks’ Review
Image
Stars: Doug Jones, Erik Palladino, Douglas Tait | Written by Josh Guttman, Andrew Jaksch, Lukas Kendall, Sanjay F. Sharma | Directed by Andrew Jaksch, Lukas Kendall, Toby Rawal, Scott Robson, Sanjay F. Sharma, Luis Tinoco

In recent years there’s been something of a surge in anthology movies, not your traditional anthology mind you, no, many new anthologies are actually made up of existing thematically connected shorts brought together with, oftentimes, a new wraparound filmed to tie these tales to each other. Films like Zombieworld and Galaxy of Horrors pioneered this type of filmmaking and in the five or so years that followed we’ve had plenty of other examples. And now comes a sci-fi take on the anthology film, Battle in Space: The Armada Attacks.

Made up of six shorts, Battle in Space‘s opener tells the story of how humanity spread across the universe after the discovery of hyper speed.

Trailer for Low-Budget Sci-Fi 'Battle in Space - The Armada Attacks'
Doug Jones at an event for The 79th Annual Academy Awards (2007)
"Mission control: we have a critical situation!" Uncork'd has unveiled an official trailer for an anthology film featuring a series of sci-fi shorts called Battle in Space - The Armada Attacks. This plays like a low-budget, B-movie collection of space battle stories and despite the low quality, it still looks rather fun. In 2420, after aliens and powerful space wizards enslaved human villages, a group of rebels organize a counter attack against their alien overlords by piloting fully loaded spaceships. Acclaimed actor Doug Jones stars in this as an alien, and the cast also includes Erik Palladino, Douglas Tait, Trip Hope, Jordu Schell, Linda Weinrib, Toby Rawal, Tom Farrah, Tom Madden, Declan Churchill Carter, Alexis Watt, and Philip Cristian Classen. I really wasn't expecting much from this, but I will admit there's some cool shots in this trailer that make me curious. Maybe there's some cool sci-fi stories hidden in here?...

‘The Final Wish’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Michael Welch, Lin Shaye, Tony Todd, Melissa Bolona, Spenser Locke, Kaiwi Lyman, Jonathan Daniel Brown, Jean Elie, Christopher Murray, Douglas Tait, Larry Poole | Written by Jeffrey Reddick, William Halfon, Jonathan Doyle | Directed by Timothy Woodward Jr.

Pretty much my whole reason for giving The Final Wish a watch was because Lin Shaye stars in it. She is a seal of approval for me and I know that even if the movie disappoints, then I will at least see a good performance from the veteran actress. That said, this also features Tony Todd, another reliable horror icon and had some decent-looking poster artwork, so it had at least a few things going for it.

The Final Wish has a simple concept. After his Dad dies, a man (Michael Welch) heads back to the place he grew up to see his Mum (Shaye). While he is there he discovers a mysterious...

Since Mike Mignola created Hellboy in 1993, he has been a fan favorite character, growing his own mini-universe of characters and spinoff series. Mainstream audiences certainly got to know him in a pair of features from director Guillermo Del Toro, who put his own spin on the world. Over the last decade, Del Toro and star Ron Perlman talked about a third film but one thing or another kept getting in the way. David Harbour is having a moment. This month he had...

Hellboy 2 Won't Be Happening Confirms David Harbour
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things (2016)
I don't think any of us will be quite surprised by this news, but all the same, here it is. Today we have word via Stranger Things and Black Widow star David Harbour that, go figure, there is no plan for a sequel to director Neil Marshall's recent reboot of Mike Mignola's classic comic book character Hellboy.

David Harbour admits this.

"I don't think there'll be much of a light. There's a lot of people who reach out to me who really loved it and really enjoyed the new take and were just happy to see him back on the screen, but I know in the culture at large, I don't think it was very well received."

He continues.

"I don't think it made a lot of money. I don't really keep up with those things too much, to be honest, but I don't think the perception was that it was a hit,...

Wild Boar Trailer: Bloodthirsty Pig Mutants Want to Turn You Into Bacon
Barney Burman
Wild Boar is an upcoming horror film from Academy Award winning special effects & character creation artist, Barney Burman. The movie is Burman's directorial debut and it's sure to pique the interest of horror and sci-fi enthusiasts everywhere. Wild Boar follows a small group of treasure seekers, also known as "Geocachers," who trek into to the desert to conquer a Geocache Challenge. Out in the wild they stumble upon a forbidden world flooded with radiation and inhabited by a race of bloodthirsty mutants who have evolved from pigs.

The Wild Boar trailer features tight spaces and quick edits that give it a claustrophobic feel, which only adds to the tension. Sand traps and water escapes are also teased, leaving the mutant human/pig hybrids a mystery. They are shown, albeit briefly, and that's what will draw viewers in. How did these pig people come to be? Why are they hunting innocent humans?...

Production wraps on ‘Tales of Frankenstein’
Production has just wrapped in Los Angeles on the horror film Tales of Frankenstein, starring Game of Death’s Mel Novak and Wolverine creator Len Wein in his final film. The movie is based upon four of writer-director Donald F. Glut’s (The Empire Strikes Back novel) short stories published in his book of the same name:

“My Creation, My Beloved,” (a deformed descendant of Victor Frankenstein creates the perfect man and woman), “Crawler from the Grave,” (another Frankenstein descendant’s disembodied, plague-infected arm returns from the grave for revenge), “Madhouse of Death” (a private detective winds up in an old dark house filled with loonies…and a gorilla) and “Dr. Karnstein’s Creation,” (a mad doctor creates a monster in vampire-haunted Transylvania – with gruesomely unexpected results).

Tales of Frankenstein also stars Jerry Lacy (TV’s Dark Shadows), Ann Robinson (War of the Worlds), Beverly Washburn (Old Yeller), John Blyth Barrymore,...
