Superhero films gained new traction in the 21st century, with DC and Marvel starting a serious competition. In the last two decades, adaptations based on DC Comics haven't always delivered, and with James Gunn and Peter Safran rebooting the DC Universe, starting with the upcoming Superman, fans have several valid concerns about pacing and the overall quality.
The new franchise kicked off with the animated series Creature Commandos, but all eyes are on the first feature film, Superman. The movie will hit theaters next summer and start the Dcu right in the center of the action, but some fans are also concerned about how much time the film will spend setting up future films and characters. Ahead of the highly-anticipated trailer release on Thursday, Dec. 19, during a set visit attended by Cbr and other outlets, writer and director James Gunn clarified that the film will stand alone and require little...

Robert Pattinson's Batman and David Corenswet's Superman cross universes as the ideal Dark Knight and Man of Steel crossover in stunning DC Universe artwork. A new era for the DC brand is on its way as multiple DC Universe Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" movies and TV shows are in various stages of development. While Corenswet's Superman movie has finished filming and is on track for its 2025 release, the upcoming Batman reboot in James Gunn's DC Universe is still far away.
While casting is nowhere near happening on The Brave and The Bold movie anytime soon, it is not stopping DC fans from pitching their own ideas of what type of Bruce Wayne should be side-by-side with Corenswet's Clark Kent. One concept many are showing interest in is the idea of having Corenswet's new version of Superman share the screen with Pattinson's Batman from Matt Reeves' universe.

Josh Hartnett has had a storied Hollywood career. After appearing in small roles in The Faculty and The Virgin Suicides in 1998 and 1999, the actor moved onto bigger ones. However, he didn't enjoy the attention that came with blockbuster films and even turned down a role as Superman.
"I just didn't want my life to be swallowed up by my work," Harnett told The Guardian when asked about why he turned down the chance to suit up as the Man of Steel. "And there was a notion at that time you just kind of give it all up. And you saw what happened to some people back then. They got obliterated by it. I didn't want that for myself."

Posted on X by Alves, new artwork, which takes cues from the cover of 1982's Daring New Adventures of Supergirl #1, sees Alcock flying through a city as Supergirl, complete with her cape and hair billowing in the wind. Alves is no stranger to the Superman mythos, as he had done a similar poster for the Man of Steel for Superman: Legacy, as well as ones for the other characters from Legacy. The popular digital artist BossLogic has also shared some artwork imagining Alcock in the role. Both pieces of fan art can be viewed below.

Although no official look for the character has been shared yet, fan art by Davi Alves imagines what Anya Chalotra would look like as Circe in Creature Commandos.
Shared onto X by Alves, the artwork -- which is done in an old comic book cover-style -- sees Chalotra as the infamous sorceress, clad in a rather sensual green and gold ensemble, with her hair being colored purple like Circe's is in the comics, while sitting down and seemingly looking at the viewer. Alves is no stranger to the DC Universe, as he had previously done fan posters for the characters from Superman: Legacy, including Superman himself, which caught the attention of Legacy writer-director and DC Studios co-president and co-ceo James Gunn.

There are still no details on what Nicholas Hoult's portrayal of Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy will entail. Hoult's previous roles, particularly his performance as Peter in The Great, showcase his ability to bring depth and complexity to a character like Lex Luthor. With his experience in superhero movies through playing Beast in the X-Men franchise, Hoult has proven himself capable of taking on the role of one of the comics' most intelligent characters.
Superman: Legacy's Lex Luthor actor looks extremely comic book-accurate in new DC Universe fan art. Superman: Legacy's cast has been receiving some major additions after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which include the announcement of María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, as well as the reveal that Nicholas Hoult is Superman: Legacy's Lex Luthor. With the major villain cast, fans have started to imagine Hoult's look as Luthor.

DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn recently shared some stunning Superman: Legacy fan art, showing the actors currently cast in the DC Universe film as their comic book counterparts, on his Instagram Story.
Artist Davi Alves has been creating some fan posters for Legacy modeled after old comic book covers. So far, he has done Legacy covers for Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner/Green Lantern (including a bowl cut variant), Anthony Carrigan's Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific and Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane. The first two managed to catch Gunn's eye, with X account Dcu Updates sharing screenshots of the Hawkgirl and Green Lantern fan posters on Gunn's Instagram Story. At this time, it is unknown how comic-accurate Gunn plans on making his versions of the aforementioned superheroes, although The Suicide Squad managed to successfully modernize several characters' classic comic book looks, such as John Cena's Peacemaker.
