Essentially a mixture of Johnnie To's cinematic style (and casting) and the story of “Infernal Affairs” plus somewhat of John Woo's heroic bloodshed, “Line Walker” aims, though, mostly at entertainment. The film is based on the homonymous 2014 TV series, and later on spawned a sequel.

A Hong Kong police chief who has the identities of all undercover agents in his files manages to protect them by deleting the files before he is murdered. However, this also means that a number of them continue to work unbeknownst to the body of the Force. As pro-democracy, anti-police-brutality protests in Hong Kong enter their 10th week, the political unrest has begun to make itself felt in the entertainment world, with actors and other performers caught up in an increasingly vituperative battle between those who support the demonstrators and those who back the local government and mainland China’s tough stance.
One popular singer-actress blacklisted by Beijing has live-streamed and live-tweeted herself attending protests and being tear-gassed. Another veteran actor took part in a pro-police rally – and promptly landed a release date in mainland China for his directorial debut film. Worldwide star Jackie Chan has thrown his lot in with the Beijing regime, putting out a video interview in which he expressed his patriotism in terms that echo mainland propaganda.
The protests – the biggest in Hong Kong’s history – have raged since early June, at their peak drawing nearly 2 million out of the territory’s 7.4 million people to the streets,...

‘Line Walker’, one of Tvb’s highest-rated serial dramas in 2014, is hitting the big screen.
Charmaine Sheh is infiltrating the triads once again. Amongst the danger, she has to find the sixth mysterious undercover agent between the two notorious gang members, Louis Koo, who plays a mysterious drug dealer, and Nick Cheung, a tactical cold-blooded killer.
The original main lead, Raymond Lam, will not be in this movie. However, the film has a solid cast featuring Hong Kong superstars like Nick Cheung, Louis Koo, Charmaine Sheh and Francis Ng. Some of the most action-packed scenes shot in Brazil also add a little more exotic flavour to the film.
Line Walker film adaptation will be released in China on August 11, 2016. It is directed by Jazz Boon and produced by Wong Jing.
