It also means it has been 15 years since Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland kicked off this trend that has dominated the box office despite audiences and critics deriving it. For a decade now, audiences have seen films from Disney's classic era(Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio) and Renaissance get the live-action treatment to mixed results. However, right at the cusp of this Disney remake era, an ABC series put its own unique spin on many of Disney's classic canon and did it better than most of the live-action films that had triple the budget. In the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, Marvel Studios has the perfect opportunity to address one Defenders Saga mystery that I never thought would be mentioned in the MCU after Daredevil's cancelation. In early 2024, Marvel confirmed that the Defenders Saga, which originally comprised six Marvel Television shows released on Netflix between 2015 and 2019, is officially canon to the MCU. This made me very excited, as it meant that the new Daredevil: Born Again series could resolve some of Daredevil's most annoying loose ends.

Much of the original cast of Daredevil has already been confirmed to be returning in Marvel Studios' upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, including Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and more. THR reports that Samuel L. Jackson is in negotiations to join the cast of J.J. Abrams’s new mystery feature. As expected, there are no details on who Jackson might play in the movie, only that it will be a “key role.“

The film will star Glen Powell (The Running Man), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Emma MacKay (Sex Education). Plot details are naturally being kept under wraps. It was previously speculated that the film would involve time travel, but sources have said that’s not the case. The project is expected to kick off production in the spring in the UK with Abrams directing from a script he wrote. He will also produce through his Bad Robot banner. This will mark Abrams’s first feature film since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which was released in 2019.

The cast of Abigail elevates the movie's unique hybrid of a heist film and a horror movie, with strong performances from the ensemble. Abigail focuses on a group of criminals and killers who find themselves tasked with kidnapping the daughter of a powerful and wealthy man. While they're initially scared of repercussions coming from the hands of her father, the group soon realizes the full extent of the danger they're in when they realize that the young Abigail isn't what she seems.

Abigail is an impressive critical success with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 83%, and despite its lukewarm box office, Abigail's streaming success has given it new life. Over the Garden Wall was Cartoon Network's first miniseries and remains one of its most beloved and creative intellectual properties. It follows two brothers, Wirt (Elijah Wood) and Greg (Collin Dean), who become lost in a mysterious forest called the Unknown. The First Omen's ending leads straight to the events of the first film in the series and serves as an unexpected explanation of Damien Thorn's birth parents.

In the process, The First Omen quietly makes a lot of changes to the lore established in the original 1976 film, The Omen. This includes retconning Damien's mother and the circumstances of his birth, as well as introducing a new wrinkle in the form of a twin sister. Disney’s live-action movies excel when it comes to lighthearted teenage dramas and musicals, which is why it was the best medium for the continuation of their most popular IPs, the lore of the princesses. Unlike the live-action adaptations of the princess movies, the Descendants franchise, which focuses on the adventures of the children of classic Disney princess characters, has been received quite positively. The '80s was a pretty scary time to be a kid. Over in the United Kingdom, we were routinely terrified by grim public information films and even educational content like "Dark Towers" and "The Boy From Space" were pretty hair-raising for a class full of eight-year-olds at the time. Then you had "Watership Down," a tale of bunny brutality that inexplicably received a U (Universal) certificate and scarred an entire generation for life.

Unlike the United States, we didn't get our 12 certificate (the British equivalent of the PG-13) until 1989, which meant big Hollywood movies like "Gremlins" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" were still available to rent with the family-friendly PG rating. As a result, many impressionable '80s kids were traumatized by nasty little creatures trashing Christmas and a cult leader ripping out someone's still-beating heart well before they were equipped to deal with such stuff.

In the era of reality television and social media, it seems easier than ever before for everyone and anyone to have 15 minutes of fame.

Antonio Inoki is perhaps the most famous Japanese professional wrestler of all time. Inoki started his career in 1960, when he was only 17. He would later found New Japan Pro Wrestling in 1972 — arguably the most successful Japanese promotion there is. Furthermore, Inoki famously battled boxing legend Muhammad Ali in a lackluster contest in 1976 — a battle that would be a spiritual precursor to the sport of mixed martial arts.

Bobby Lashley, one-time WWE superstar and current Tna World Heavyweight Champion (where he wrestles under just his last name, Lashley), has signed on with Bellator Mma, now headed by Lashley’s old Strikeforce boss Scott Coker, and will make his promotional debut this September 5th Connecticut.

Once linked to the Wsof, Lashley never appeared for that organization, and fought most recently in independent promotions Xfn (winning their heavyweight title) and Gwc. Lashley is also a Shark Fights champion. Since joining Tna Wrestling on Spike, speculation has been rampant that Lashley would also join Bellator and work under both promotions, just as fellow fighters King Mo and Rampage Jackson have done (though neither have been used much at all by Tna).

As legit pro wrestling gave way to scripted pro wrestling, the same tactics and training techniques stuck around for decades. The likes of Billy Robinson, Judo Gene LeBell and Stu Hart transitioned their shoot wrestling abilities and parlayed them into success in pro wrestling.

Worked fights continued all the way up through the 1990s, but as the Ufc emerged, it became much easier to decipher a work from a shoot. That hasn’t stopped the two worlds from intersecting, as the likes of Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar, Dan Severn, Bob Sapp and several others have managed success in both Mma and pro wrestling.

Former Ufc Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir has revealed that he would be open to an offer from Vince McMahon to come to the WWE, amidst rumours that he was intrigued by the idea after Brock Lesnar’s recent $5 million limited contract deal.

Speaking to the Chronicle Journal, Mir admitted he couldn’t rule out a move to Pro Wrestling;

“Not opposed to the idea,” Mir said. “I can’t do a back flip or anything.”

There have been rumours over the past few weeks that other Ufc stars are interested in coming to WWE for a similar “big money Lesnar offer”. Roy Nelson and Tito Ortiz both publically expressed their interest in a move to pro wrestling if the money was right and now Mir, although not exactly as blatant as others, is perhaps making a subtle oveture for McMahon to make him an offer.

Lionsgate has announced Conan the Barbarian will be released on Blu-ray ($37.99 Srp) and DVD ($29.95 Srp) November 22. This action movie will also be released in 3D Blu-ray, which includes a 2D Blu-ray and DVD for $39.99 Srp. Conan 2.0 bombed. The Help was Number One at the box office this weekend with $20.4 Million. Rise of the Planet of the Apes was Second with $16.3 Million for $133.7 Million so far. Spy Kids: All the Time in the World premiered in Third Place with $12 Million. Conan the Barbarian premiered in Fourth Place with $10 Million. The Smurfs was Fifth with $8 Million for $117.7 Million so far.
