Peter Forrest — who, as P. Fluid, was lead singer and frontman of the pioneering Black rock band 24/7 Spyz — has died at the age of 64. On Jan. 14th, Forrest’s body was found badly beaten in the back of an abandoned ambulette bus in the Bronx. Forrest, who worked for the ambulette company as a driver, reportedly suffered “trauma around the body.” The New York Police Department confirmed the death to Rolling Stone, adding that the incident “is now being investigated as a homicide.”

Jackie Farry, who worked in radio promotion at Atlantic and Epic Records before becoming a tour manager for music acts like Elliott Smith, The Lemonheads and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, died Sunday of complications from a lung disease. She was 58.
Farry’s career in the music industry began at Homestead Records, where she was a receptionist as the fledgling New York label was building a rep for signing influential indie rock bands in the 1980s. Farry quickly climbed the ranks in the business, making impactful contributions at Atlantic Records, where she worked from 1988 to 1989, and Epic Records, from 1991 to 1992, in radio promotion, specifically in the metal realm.
Her passion for music and the magnetic pull she seemed to have on everyone around her led to her becoming Frances Bean Cobain’s nanny from birth to toddlerhood — a role she cherished deeply. Her adventure in the music world didn’t stop there.

The Star Wars franchise has never held back when it comes to splashing cash to make sure their movies and TV shows look spectacular. That has been proven by the recent revelation that Andor is now one of the most expensive projects ever for the space opera franchise. Across its two series, the show has a budget of $645 million, with $290.9 million coming from the upcoming Season 2.
This gives the new season a similar per-episode budget to Netflix’s Stranger Things and Wednesday, but moreover, it means that Andor’s return costs more than the $275 million budget of The Rise of Skywalker. While Andor is one of the franchise’s most impressive projects, and delivered a near-perfect story in Season 1, whether it is quite worth the price for Disney and Lucasfilm is questionable.
Naturally, this budget was not entirely planned. Production on Season 2 began in 2022, but thanks to the SAG_AFTRA strike,...

Though Michael Conner Humphreys is best known for playing young Forrest in Robert Zemeckis’s 1994 film Forrest Gump, he went on to have an interesting career after the production. While Tom Hanks is the film’s main star, portraying the adult Forrest Gump as he meets real-life figures and innocently encounters American history in real-time, Humphreys's performance sets the tone at the beginning of the film. The Oscar-winning movie is famous for its stellar cast and iconic quotes from Forrest, both young and old.
When he was eight years old, Humphreys attended a casting call that was reportedly for "a young Tom Hanks with light eyes and a quirky disposition." Due to his southern accent and fitting appearance, Humphreys was chosen to play the younger version of Forrest. Humphreys and Hanks worked closely to make sure the child and adult characters resembled each other, with Hanks drawing on Humphreys' real...

Run, Forrest, Run! Like seriously…runnnnnn!!!! Probably the last person you’d imagine being invoked in The Creep Tapes is Forrest Gump. Yet here he is, being praised by the still-unnamed killer of the cult-fave horror movies and Shudder’s top-notch sequel series. Turns out, the psychopath with a penchant for hiring unsuspecting videographers to film him in various scenarios before disposing of them in myriad gruesome ways is also a big fan of Tom Hanks‘ Southern simpleton. Shudder “He’s pure, he’s funny, he’s thoughtful…he’s historically important,” raves the seemingly Average Joe played so perfectly by Mark Duplass (The Morning Show) in TV Insider’s exclusive clip from this week’s season finale, fittingly airing on Friday the 13th. Going on to appreciate the special love between Forrest and his mother while filming himself on a country drive, his revelry is so rudely interrupted by...

The real meaning behind Forrest Gumps final scene has been debated since the movies release in 1994 for several reasons. As the movie that helped define Tom Hanks career and won him an Academy Award, Forrest Gump has earned its spot as one of the most popular comedy-drama movies with its endearing characters and clever use of real-life historical figures edited alongside Forrest Gump to paint a picture of modern America. However, Robert Zemeckis Forrest Gump ends on a somewhat ambiguous note and the films audience is left with quite a few questions.
At the end of Forrest Gump, Forrest Gump waits for the school bus with his son at the side of the road. As the bus comes closer, Forrest notices a Curious George book in his sons backpack and examines it as Forrest Jr. states Grandma used to read it to you. Forrest sends his son onto the school bus,...

Robert Zemeckis has one of the most eclectic filmographies in history under his belt. From the ever-prevalent and mainstream Back to the Future series to his infamous motion capture version of A Christmas Carol, Zemeckis' body of work has always been concerned with emerging technology. The director seemingly has a fascination with integrating or establishing cutting-edge developments in filmmaking.
Zemeckis' latest venture into this territory is Here, which employs the use of a de-aging artificial intelligence technology on actors called Metaphysic Live that works in real-time as opposed to post-production. However, this is not Here's only technological gimmick. The movie also takes place entirely within one room and from one camera angle. Despite these cinematic innovations, Here has not been very well-received by critics or audiences. One major reason being cited for the backlash is the film's ending. So, how does Here end, and is it as bad as everyone says?...

Here sees Tom Hanks reunite with director Robert Zemeckis, and the movie includes a sly reference to one of their earlier collaborations. The 2024 drama marks the fifth time that Hanks and Zemeckis have worked together on a movie, as the partnership began in 1994 with Forrest Gump. The Oscar-winning drama and box office hit enticed the duo to work together over the years, although the frequency of their pairing has picked up in recent years. Despite these previous works, Here is the biggest Forrest Gump reunion film to date with Robin Wright, Eric Roth, and others also involved.
The longevity of Hanks and Zemeckis' partnership, and their individual careers, created some unique possibilities with a story like Here. Since the movie's setting spans millions of years of history, the ever-changing time periods meant a variety of pop culture and historical references. Here's dialogue and details even appear to sneak in a Cast Away reference,...

Director Robert Zemeckis is used to conjuring the impossible.
In “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” he had flesh-and-blood actors like Bob Hoskins convincingly interact with animated characters; with “Forrest Gump” he had the title character (essayed by Tom Hanks) meet famous historical figures; “What Lies Beneath” imagined what would happen if Alfred Hitchcock had access to cutting-edge visual effects. He made three entire movies exclusively using performance capture technology. And on and on and on.
His latest film “Here,” which is now playing in theaters, offered a different sort of challenge – the entire movie is told from a fixed vantagepoint, through various eras. The camera never moves. It begins in prehistoric times, eventually settling into a handful of suburban living rooms throughout the years. The one we chiefly focus on is the home of Hanks and Robin Wright, both “Forrest Gump” alums, who begin in the 1960s and travel through modern day.

Tom Hanks reflects on when he thought he might be getting fired from Forrest Gump. Hanks' performance as the titular character was critically acclaimed and won him his second Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Forrest Gump also marked the first of many Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis collaborations, with the actor and director also working together on Cast Away, The Polar Express, Disney's live-action remake of Pinocchio, and Here, the last of which saw them reuniting with Robin Wright.
While speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hanks recalls why he thought Zemeckis was firing him during the second day of shooting Forrest Gump. He discusses how he still struggles with impostor syndrome on the second day of filming a new movie, especially when knowing that actors are sometimes recast very early in the production process. Robin Wright is not here for any takes about Jenny in “Forrest Gump” being an anti-feminist character — or Voldemort, for that matter. In a joint interview with Tom Hanks for the New York Times, she shot down criticism of the character she played in the Academy Award-winning 1994 film.
In “Forrest Gump,” Wright’s character Jenny Curran is the object of the title character’s affection since childhood. She is abused by her father as a child, and leaves their small town as soon as she can, pursuing a hippie dream in search of a better life. She does not find one, and she suffers from drug addiction and turns to sex work to survive. Eventually, she reunites with Forrest, and he professes his love to her and proposes to her. Robin Wright, who played Jenny in the classic drama Forrest Gump, is over being labeled as the film's true villain. Released 30 years ago, the Robert Zemeckis film stars Tom Hanks as the titular character and Wright as his platonic (and occasionally romantic-ish) counterpart, Jenny.
Since the films release, audiences have considered Jenny something of an anti-feminist figure who only brought trouble to Forrests exciting life. In the film, Forrest is an extraordinary man who overcomes all obstacles presented by his disability, which is never clearly defined. Since he was a boy, Forrest has been in love with Jenny, and the two reunite at various stages of his eventful life. But Forrest and Jenny never have an actual long-term relationship at least not until Jenny catches an incurable virus, and she introduces Forrest to his son. Forrest marries Jenny, and when she dies, he becomes a single parent to their son.

Robin Wright joined her “Forrest Gump” co-star Tom Hanks for a recent interview with The New York Times while promoting their latest collaboration, Robert Zemeckis’ “Here,” and she pushed back against claims that her “Gump” character, Jenny Curran, is “kind of an anti-feminist role.” Jenny is the love of Forrest’s life in the movie, but her freewheeling lifestyle keeps him at a distance. She embraces social liberation, does drugs and more. Then she dies of an AIDS-related illness, which some viewers have claimed is anti-feminist punishment for her lifestyle.
“There are some different takes on Jenny, Robin’s character, including that she was punished for her choices — which were reflective of the choices of many young women in a generation that had social and economic liberty for the first time,” interviewer Melena Ryzik asked Wright. “She chooses a freewheeling life, and she dies. Forrest Gump's Jenny is one of the most iconic characters of her era. The way her name is said by the titular character has become one of the most memorable parts of the movie. Jenny is played by Robin Wright in the film, who later marries Tom Hanks' Forrest after they fall in love in adulthood. In the film, Jenny and Forrest have a child together, but Jenny tragically dies at the age of 32.
Both Jenny and Forrest also have younger counterparts in the film, which shows the pair when they are growing up. Young Forrest is played by Michael Conner Humphreys, who did very little acting after appearing in Forrest Gump. Young Jenny, on the other hand, was played by Hanna Hall. Hall's role in Forrest Gump and later career is worth exploring in more detail.

Forrest Gump's son, played by Haley Joel Osment, may not be the biological son of Tom Hanks' titular character, according to one fan theory. While Forrest experiences some of the biggest parts of American history throughout his journey, the thing that matters most to him is his relationship with Jenny. In the end, Jenny finds her way back to Forrest, and the two rendezvous before separating yet again. It's only when she returns a second time, a child in tow, that Forrest discovers he has a son.
Forrest Gump's sweet relationship with Forrest Jr. is one of the film's most poignant moments since it also accompanies Jenny's passing. However, that bittersweet ending for Forrest is ruined for some by the theory that Forrest Jr. might not be his. Similar to other Forrest Gump fan theories, there's plenty of evidence behind this one, that makes it certainly a viable option for the storytelling.

Jenny's true cause of death in Forrest Gump is widely believed to be HIV due to the AIDS pandemic at the time. Screenwriter Eric Roth confirmed that late-stage HIV was the illness Jenny died from in the canceled Forrest Gump sequel. Tom Hanks' charity work for AIDS/HIV relief contrasts with the deliberate ambiguity surrounding Jenny's illness in Forrest Gump.
Given the tragic end of her story, there are still many fans wondering what Jenny died from in Forrest Gump. The confusion surrounding these questions is due to the fact that the movie provides only clues about Jenny's death and does not adapt how Jenny dies in the book. Though Robert Zemeckis' 1994 film centers on Forrest's life accomplishments, the story is grounded by his unconditional love for Jenny, despite her often not treating him very kindly in return. Robin Wright played the role of Jenny Curran in the Oscar Award-winning Forrest Gump. Unlike the traditional villain, Jenny is not poised as an antagonist in the movie. Rather, she’s a longtime friend of Tom Hanks’ character Forrest, whose love and support for him are genuine. However, Jenny has attracted a significant amount of online ire and controversy over the years.

Death Becomes Her, released in 1992, was directed by Robert Zemeckis and led by perhaps one of the most prestigious set of stars to ever grace the screen, namely Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Brice Willis. A blend of horror, comedy, satire and slapstick, the movie follows two rivals: the narcissistic fading actress Madeline Ashton (Streep), and glamorous writer Helen Sharp (Hawn). Both pursue the ultimate in fame, beauty and youth for the sole purpose of one-upping the other. At the center of their feud is the grand prize: the weak-willed plastic surgeon Ernest Menville (Willis).
Helen and Madeline's lifelong battle turns ugly when Madeline steals Ernest from Helen, breaking their engagement. Over the next decade, Madeline obsessively updates her appearance out of fear of growing old, while Ernest slips into impotence and alcoholism, forcing him to give up surgery and, thus, ending up a beleaguered reconstructive mortician. Meanwhile, Helen vows revenge on Madeline.

The season 4 finale of The Boys is now streaming on Prime Video, and the episode - previously titled "Assassination Run" before the recent attempt on Donald Trump's life - concluded with Homelander one step away from the Oval Office... and arguably more deranged and ruthless than ever.
During an interview with Collider, actor Antony Starr was asked if he's still having fun playing the villainous leader of the Seven, and the frequent comparisons to Trump.
"One of the great things that I’ve loved, and I do love about this show, and I will continue to love as we keep going, is the layers that we’ve been able to put in with this character. We’ve always been conscious of making him three-dimensional, and not making him mustache-twirling. The iconic bench scene in Forrest Gump was filmed in Savannah, Georgia. The Greenbow, Alabama scenes were actually filmed in Yemassee and Beaufort, South Carolina. The Vietnam War scenes were also captured in South Carolina, and Forrest's run across America ends at Monument Valley.
Forrest Gump tells the story of Forrest Gump's eventful life as he grows up in Alabama, fights in the Vietnam War, runs across the country, and more, and just like Tom Hanks' character, the cast and crew traveled to many locations to film the 1994 comedy-drama. Given that the important moments in Forrest's life occur in several different cities and places, it makes sense why the production was spread across the United States. However, despite Forrest Gump relying heavily on on-location filming, principal photography only lasted about five months, beginning in August 1993 and ending in December.

1994's Forrest Gump features Tom Hanks' title character meeting many real-life historical figures. Two of the only characters not to appear via archive footage were Elvis Presley and Dick Cavett. Gump also met several Presidents including Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon.
Forrest Gump featured Tom Hanks' title character interacting with several well-known historical figures. The 1994 movie, which was based on the 1986 Winston Groom novel of the same name, was directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay by Eric Roth. It was a major sensation in the mid-1990s, becoming the second highest-grossing movie of the year worldwide thanks to a gross of $678.2 million against its $55 million budget. Forrest Gump's portrayal of American history and historical figures has been met with criticism in recent years. There are also concerns about the film's long runtime, structural issues, and conservative propaganda. It raises questions about the representation of Forrest's love story, Tom Hanks' portrayal of an intellectual disability, and the film's overall rewatchability.
Forrest Gump is now 30 years old, and from its toxic love story to its blatant whitewashing of American history, there are a lot of tough realities to face when rewatching it today. When it was released in 1994, Forrest Gump became one of the highest-grossing movies ever made and won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture (beating out Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption). All these years later, Forrest Gump endures as a staple of pop culture, thanks to its quirky premise, Tom Hanks iconic performance in the title role, and its many quotable lines.

The images show John surviving The Green Mile, Jack and Rose being picked up by a lifeboat in Titanic, and Forrest and Jenny running together with their child in Forrest Gump. Tragedy is often a crucial part of telling a compelling story, and titles like Gladiator, Forrest Gump, and others are beloved in part due to their sad elements.

As the well-known saying goes, another Tom Hardy movie, another comically offbeat voice. In Jeff Nichols' beautiful Austin Butler drama "The Bikeriders," Hardy plays Johnny, leader of Chicago motorcycle club the Vandals — and this being a midwestern biker movie, you better believe there's yet another weirdo Hardy accent involved. Speaking to Variety about the film, the British star said, "One of the things that I hold myself to, as a principle, is that you've got to make an effort to create a vocal silhouette, as well as the physical silhouette." In "The Bikeriders" it's not just Hardy that provides an intriguing vocal silhouette (Jodie Comer affects a captivating mix of Chicago and Wisconsin accents), but he surely has the most unconventional and endearingly idiosyncratic take on the midwestern accent.
Of course, this is hardly the first time Mr. Hardy has treated us all to a unique vocal performance. The man...

The iconic bench in Forrest Gump symbolizes life's cyclical nature, destiny, and perseverance. Chippewa Square in Savannah, Georgia, where the bench scenes were filmed, is a popular tourist spot. While the original bench is in Los Angeles, a replica can be seen at the Savannah History Museum.
The iconic status of the bench in Forrest Gump raises questions about its location in real life. Commonly regarded as One of the movies that helped define Tom Hanks' career, the 1994 film opens and closes with its titular protagonist sitting on a bench at a bus stop, with a feather drifting away, symbolizing the cyclical nature of life and chance. This bench serves as a pivotal narrative device where Forrest shares his life story with strangers, detailing how, despite being "slow-witted," he achieves extraordinary feats with the support of his mother (Sally Field).

In 1994, you couldn't escape "Forrest Gump." The Robert Zemeckis-directed comedy-drama starring Tom Hanks was huge — it hauled in $678.2 million at the worldwide box office, which made it the second-highest-grossing film of '94 (the first-highest grossing film was "The Lion King"). From there, "Forrest Gump" would go on to Oscar glory, winning six Academy Awards — Best Picture, Best Director for Robert Zemeckis, Best Actor for Tom Hanks, Best Adapted Screenplay for Eric Roth, Best Visual Effects, and Best Film Editing for Arthur Schmidt. It was a cultural phenomenon, and TV reruns would eventually make it even more ubiquitous.
The story follows Forrest Gump, a man with an Iq of 75 who somehow stumbles through several major events in American history throughout the 1960s and 70s. This concept allowed Zemeckis to use what was then cutting-edge visual effects that would drop Hanks into historical footage and have him "interacting" with real-life prominent...

Movie vs. book differences: The novel's Forrest is more aggressive, foul-mouthed, and intelligent compared to the innocent film character. Friendship origins: In the book, Forrest meets Bubba in college, not boot camp like in the movie, leading to a close bond. Divergence in endings: The film has a more heartwarming conclusion with Forrest raising his son, while the book takes a darker turn.
Forrest Gump has gone down in history as a definitive piece of American cinema and introduced audiences to a remarkable title character, but the Forrest Gump book vs the movie shows a very different version of the story. Largely told in flashback by Forrest himself, the novel takes viewers on a trip through the latter half of 20th-century America, through the eyes of a guy who somehow manages to experience every triumph and tragedy of the era. The movie was produced for a modest budget with little...

Follow your heart like Gump did by doing what you love and finding happiness in every moment. Forrest Gump's insights show that everyone has wisdom to share, regardless of intelligence levels. Embrace new experiences, don't be afraid to fail, and take life as it comes with an open mind and optimism.
Along with being a beloved movie, the Forrest Gump lessons to live by adds to its legacy. A heartwarming tale with a wholesome message that will never become irrelevant, Forrest Gump is the perfect movie to watch when audiences are in the mood for a little soul-searching. The story about one mans incredible and unexpected life journey is as significant now as it was when the film was first released in 1994. But it is the Forrest Gump lessons that show the power of the story.

Behind-the-scenes drama in filmmaking can mirror the intensity of on-screen stories. Apocalypse Now faced setbacks like actor replacements and logistical challenges. The Shining's demanding director pushed actors to the brink, leading to a grueling filming experience.
In the world of filmmaking, drama isn't limited to what unfolds in front of the camera. Often, there's even more drama behind the scenes. From heated rivalries between lead actors to directors pushing their cast and crew to the brink, the production process can be filled with tension, controversy, and unexpected challenges. Movies like Apocalypse Now, The Shining, and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? are notorious examples of films where the off-screen drama rivaled the intensity of the stories being told on-screen.
These behind-the-scenes conflicts, whether stemming from creative differences, personal feuds, or the relentless pursuit of perfection, have often added to the mystique and fascination surrounding these films. In some cases, the...
