The actor had battled substance abuse since childhood, admitting that he first tried drugs at the age of eight. By the time he was established, addiction had taken hold. In 1996, he was arrested for possession of cocaine, heroin, and a pistol after being stopped for speeding.
Despite multiple court-ordered rehab stints, he continued to relapse. Judge Lawrence Mira made it clear that leniency had run out. “I don’t believe your client is committed to not using drugs. You may call that addiction.

Amy Schumer did her comedy homework when it came to “Kinda Pregnant,” her latest Netflix original movie. The comedian and actress told Howard Stern that she cleared a joke about O.J. Simpson and his defense attorney Robert Kardashian with the latter’s very famous daughter, Kim Kardashian.
During one scene in the movie out Wednesday, Schumer’s Lainy reads a bedtime story to the children she’s babysitting from a fake pop culture magazine. “There was once a family of beautiful, beautiful princesses called the Kardashians,” Lainy says in the movie. “And they lived in a palace that their dad bought them by defending a murderer.”
“I called Kim Kardashian. I said, I want to make this joke,” Schumer shared on “The Howard Stern Show” last week. “I asked if she would mind, and she didn’t mind. How cool is she? She’s like, ‘Yeah, do the one about my dad defending a murderer.

Ari Graynor is the Mvp of Ryan Murphy’s “Monsters” Netflix series as Leslie Abramson, the chain-smoking defense lawyer who was vilified at the time for defending the Menendez brothers in the brutal 1989 shotgun killings of their parents.
It’s a great, meaty character for any actress: When Edie Falco played Abramson in 2017’s “Law & Order True Crime,” she was nominated for an Emmy, which could be the next accolade for Graynor.
Viewers naturally want to know more about the real Abramson, who is now 80 and retired, but the former lawyer has rebuffed outreach efforts from the press, including from TheWrap.
The media typecast her as a “raging harpy” for representing the Menendez brothers

Though it may feel like a McU-level cameo of headline-grabbing names from the ’90s, one of the most surprising claims of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” is true. Erik Menendez did actually know O.J. Simpson, at least for a brief time.
Their meeting happened in June of 1994, shortly after Simpson was arrested following his infamous Bronco chase. By that point, both brothers had been imprisoned for over four years.
Here’s everything we know about this stranger-than-fiction meeting and how “Monsters” retelling of it compares to other times Simpson has appeared in Ryan Murphy’s work.

Just like in the Netflix series, Erik Menendez really was cell neighbors with O.J. Simpson. In Robert Rand’s “The Menendez Murders,” Erik said that he didn’t see Simpson cry during his first night but that he could hear him “moaning.” The...

It is quite natural for a case like The Menendez Murders to leave an impact on all those real-life people the two brothers came across in between these seven years (1989-1996). Starting from the detectives to the psychiatrist, public prosecutors, attorneys, reporters, and more, everyone has a version of their story about the Menendez brothers. But you see, with so many different narratives out there, it is sometimes difficult to differentiate between what’s real and what’s not. And how can a creator like Ryan Murphy miss the chance to not take advantage of that confusion? He brought certain real-life elements but then diluted it with rumors and hearsay so generously that after a point, it became difficult to separate the two. And one such event in the series involved O. J. Simpson, who was introduced in the penultimate episode of the Netflix’ series. But before moving forward, I...

It’s been so long since FX’s American Crime Story debuted (Obama was still president!) that it’s easy to forget how much trepidation surrounded that first season, The People v. O.J. Simpson. The O.J. trial was a circus at the time it unfolded. Producer Ryan Murphy’s track record seemed even more fragile in 2016 than it does now, circa the death rattle of Glee and misfires like Scream Queens. And the casting felt odd in so many places: David Schwimmer as Kim Kardashian’s dad? John Travolta...

Ever since his breakout role as Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever, John Travolta has continued to portray some of the all-time most memorable cinematic characters ever created. However, over the past two decades or so, there has been a direct proportion between how wild Travolta's character is and how crazy his hairstyle appears onscreen.

Chicago – John Travolta continues to surprise by challenging himself in offbeat roles. His latest is “The Fanatic,” which had its nationwide release on August 30th. To promote the film and greet admirers, Travolta stopped by the Wizard World Comic Con in Chicago, and Joe Arce of HollywoodChicago.com shot an Exclusive Photo.
“The Fanatic” was based on a true story that actually occurred to co-writer/director Fred Durst, the front man for the band Limp Bizkit. The topic is extreme fandom and stalking, and Travolta portrays Moose, an autistic man who worships horror film actor Hunter Dunbar (Devon Sawa). After finding out where his hero lives, Moose begins stalking him relentlessly, escalating into a dangerous situation for Dunbar. Durst based the story on a fan who pursued him during the height of Limp Bizkit’s popularity.

John Travolta’s played dozens of roles in his life — from a T-Bird to a Wild Hog, from mobster John Gotti to celebrity lawyer Robert Shapiro. But for his latest part, he portrays none other than the Cuban-American hitmaker, Pitbull.
In the video for his latest single, “3 to Tango,” it’s hardly apparent that Pitbull’s played by anyone else, much less a legendary actor. Circled by Pitbull’s fierce squad of dancers, The Most Bad Ones, a mysterious cue-balled high roller is filmed from behind, while sipping on a vodka soda.

As two former teen idols, both John Travolta and Devon Sawa know a thing or two about obsessive superfans. The two pair up in “The Fanatic,” a dramatic thriller about a middle-aged man whose obsession with a celebrity action star becomes dangerously intense. Travolta recently made waves with an unhinged performance as New York City mobster John Gotti in 2018’s “Gotti,” directed by “Entourage” star Kevin Connolly. Now he’s working with another unexpected director: former Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.
Per the official synopsis: “Moose is a rabid movie fan who is obsessed with his favorite celebrity action hero, Hunter Dunbar (Devon Sawa). When he is cheated out of his opportunity to finally meet Hunter, Moose gets a little help from his friend Leah (Ana Golja), a well-connected paparazzi photographer, who knows how to find celebrity homes. Former NFL player, movie star, and accused double-murderer O.J. Simpson is back in the news once again, this time for posting some bizarre videos on his new Twitter account. "Coming soon to Twitter, you'll be able to read my thoughts and opinions on just about everything," Simpson remarks in his first video. Simpson then eerily adds, "This should be a lot of fun, I've got a lot of getting even to do." Given Simpson's criminal background and involvement in the "Trial of the Century" in 1994, that particular phrasing is leaving a lot of people very nervous.
In a second video posted on Saturday, Simpson takes a bit of a more light-hearted approach in talking to his followers. "For years, people have been able to say whatever they want to say about me, with no accountability" Simpson says, noting he now gets to "challenge all of that B.S. and set the record straight.

Career Watch is a vocational checkup of top actors and directors, and those who hope to get there.
Thanks to strong recognition overseas, at 64 John Travolta still carries the clout that gets movies made. But this is not always a good thing: Travolta’s passion project, “Gotti,” debuted in Cannes but opened to $1.7 million amid derisive reviews (Tomatometer: 0%).
Bottom Line: After strutting out of Broadway and television into ’70s movie stardom, the Irish-Italian Travolta languished in the ’80s until Quentin Tarantino gave him his 1994 comeback as hitman Vincent Vega in “Pulp Fiction.” That movie returned Travolta’s swagger and while he hasn’t topped it, Travolta has surfed many career dips and swells without completely alienating his aging fan base. But “Gotti” may be the tipping point.

We got the famous lawyer Thursday night leaving Avra restaurant in Bev Hills, and he thinks the 5 women who testified about Cosby's M.O. sealed his fate. Honestly, I’ve have been ready for a John Travolta resurgence since the actor appeared in 2016’s “The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.” His role as Robert Shapiro in the critically-acclaimed series was fun, interesting, and definitely unique. However, since then, there hasn’t been a whole lot from the actor. However, it looks like one of Travolta’s upcoming projects is definitely going to be one to keep your eye on.

Janice Dickinson’s glare hinted at what was to come between her and Bill Cosby attorney Tom Mesereau. As he tried to introduce himself before cross-examination, she looked at him from the stand, and icily exclaimed, “Good morning, Mr. Mesereau.”
