Saturday Night Live’s latest cold open took aim at recent political headlines, centering on a fictional Oval Office meeting between former President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and tech billionaire Elon Musk. The sketch, which aired on March 8, featured James Austin Johnson as Trump, Marcello Hernandez as Rubio, and a surprise appearance from Mike Myers reprising his role as Musk.

The sketch followed reports of a tense cabinet meeting where Musk and Rubio reportedly clashed. Johnson’s Trump attempted to mediate, urging Rubio to cooperate with Musk, whom he had granted substantial government access. “I need you to be my good little Marco,” Trump told his Secretary of State. Rubio hesitated before replying, “If you think I’m going to stand here and let you call me that… You’re right!”

Rubio then briefed Trump on his efforts to retake the Panama Canal, an initiative Trump dismissed as a hassle.

Amid rumors that Marvel is in the process of casting a new actor to play T'Challa (Jr.?) for Black Panther 3 and beyond, we may now have confirmation that the McU's current Black Panther will return for the studio's next big event films.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Letitia Wright will reprise her role as Shuri for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

This wouldn't exactly be a massive surprise, but there is talk of the new T'Challa playing a part in Doomsday, so it'll be interesting to see if Shuri plays a significant role in the story or simply shows up to pass on the mantle of Wakanda's protector to her nephew.

The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2, set to be released in Spring 2025, is the next installment of the vast Walking Dead franchise. With long-running characters Negan and Maggie leading the spin-off series, the creators have their work cut out for them in order to introduce a fresh and interesting plotline to go along with well-known personalities. As the fanbase becomes increasingly critical of the overall series and the development of the post-apocalyptic world, the new shows have a lot to live up to when it comes to the beloved flagship series.

One major point of contention among viewers is the controversial treatment of Negan's character. Though he is one of the most popular surviving characters in the franchise, he still continues to be one of the most disliked.

There was never any question whether Captain America: Brave New World would lock down the top spot at the box office over its opening weekend. However, even with the film's cool callbacks to The Incredible Hulk (2008) and the inclusion of President "Thunderbolt" Ross’ (Harrison Ford) fiery alter ego, Red Hulk, the latest MCU entry required the four-day holiday weekend to reach an estimated $100 million domestically. Hollywood icon Ke Huy Quan-led Love Hurts and Josh Ruben's Heart Eyesopen strong but still can't outpace Dog Man.

Per Variety, DreamWorks Animation's Dog Man is still dominating the box office in its second weekend in theaters, even in spite of the releases of both the action comedy Love Hurts starring Ke Huy Quan and director Josh Ruben's new slasher comedy, Heart Eyes. While Heart Eyes has already brought in over $3.7 million in preview screenings and Friday showings, that only barely outpaced Dog Man's second Friday earnings of $3.2 million. Preview screenings and Friday showings of Love Hurts brought in $2.6 million, with forecasts for the weekend putting it at around $6 million, whereas Dog Man is on track to pass earnings of over $54 million within its first ten days, giving it an $18 million projection for its second weekend in theaters.

Universal and Dreamworks’ animated feature Dog Man sees a spectacular hike on its first Tuesday. It has collected amazing numbers in just five days of its release, maintaining its position at #1 in the domestic box office chart. Scroll below for the deets.

With its opening weekend collection, it landed in the projected range. The film was predicted to collect between $35 million and $37 million in the US. It has received positive reviews and is rapidly heading towards its first significant milestone in the US and worldwide. It is already the second highest-grossing film of 2025, only behind Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.

According to Luiz Fernando’s report, the audience is enjoying the animated feature Dog Man. The report stated that Dog Man collected a solid $1.8 million on Tuesday, Discount Day, which experienced a hike of +108% from Monday, which is insane.

Last month, a rumor did the rounds that Marvel Studios was planning to recast the role of T'Challa, bringing a new actor in to play the McU's original Black Panther five years after the death of Chadwick Boseman.

The original report stated that Marvel is "looking to recast its Black Panther hero T'Challa ahead of the two Avengers movies and Ryan Coogler's Black Panther 3," but we would later hear that studio was actually in the process of casting an actor for the role of Black Panther's son (also named T'Challa), who was introduced at the end of Wakanda Forever.

Marvel's VP of Production & Development Nate Moore was asked about the possibility of a new T'Challa being introduced during an interview with ComicBook.com, and while he did initially appear to debunk the reports, it doesn't sound like the idea has been completely dismissed.

Although we still don't know for certain that Marvel Studios is searching for an actor to play a new take on T'Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the recent rumor has led to several names emerging as potential contenders.

Cross star Aldis Hodge was not among them, but does seem to be the most popular choice to suit-up as Black Panther among a lot of fans.

Hodge - who played Hawkman in Warner Bros.' ill-fated Black Adam movie - hasn't weighed in on the possibility of taking over from the late Chadwick Boseman, but did express interest in playing the hero way back in 2012 prior to Boseman being cast.

"Growing up, I was a fan of Black Panther and X-Men comic books. I was also a huge Batman fan. There’s recently been a little buzz online about Marvel pushing for Black Panther, and I’ve been in love with the idea for years.

Actor Armie Hammer was on the rise when his career took a major hit in 2021. At the time, allegations of misconduct were leveled against Hammer, and offers for new roles in Hollywood films immediately dried up.

After four years, Hammer is looking to get his acting career back on the rails. He has recently been hosting a podcast, looking to show another side of himself as he takes on more acting work. Per Variety, his next role will see him playing a vigilante in a movie called The Dark Knight. While the movie happens to share a title with a beloved film directed by revered filmmaker Christopher Nolan, it is not a DC project focused on Batman... though, with Hammer in the lead, it's still starring someone who was once also cast as the popular superhero.

Ya se conocen los nominados a los Gotham, unos galardones que premian lo mejor del cine independiente estadounidense y que dan el pistoletazo de salida oficial (como cada año) a la temporada de premios.

The first nominations of the season are in as contenders for the 34th Gotham Awards were unveiled on Tuesday, with Anora, Hard Truths, and The Last Showgirl among 39 features and 25 performances in the running for nine awards.

Nominees were announced via X and seesAnora, whichleads the way on four nods,Babygirl, Challengers, A Different Man, and Nickel Boys up for the best feature prize, while Pamela Anderson, Adrien Brody, Saoirse Ronan, Mikey Madison, and Demi Moore are in the running for best lead performance.

Nickel Boys and I Saw The TV Glow each earned three nominations, while Hard Truths garnered two.

Alain Guiraudie’s “Misericordia,” Carlos Marqués-Marcet “They Will be Dust” and Yeo Siew Hua’s “Stranger Eyes” all won big at Spain’s auteurist haven Valladolid Film Festival on Saturday, in a second edition under José Luis Cienfuegos whose prizes served as a vindication of the changes he has wrought at the festival as well as an indication of some ways European arthouse is going.

All three directors’ awards build on prior upbeat reception. Playing Cannes Premiere, “Misericordia,” which scooped Valladolid’s best picture Golden Spike and its screenplay trophy, was hailed by Variety as a “darkly comic backwoods fable of pansexual desire and small-town sociopathy” which marks a “welcome re-embrace of the streamlined murdery perversities of his terrific ‘Stranger by the Lake.'”

Rather, this is more of an observational statement. The gorgeous black-and-white short film opens with loud party music. It is a rave party that our protagonist Summer is attending. But she has one issue. We see her arguing with her mother in a scene that intercuts with the party. Summer’s mother wants her to take her younger sister, Lex, along with her as she has some errands to run. Lex is blind, which makes her a burden for Summer.
