Editor's note: The below recap contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Episode 2.It's no secret that Daredevil: Born Again underwent a significant creative overhaul midway through production, reportedly due to fine-tuning the show to fit better into the continuity of the prior Daredevil series. It's a decision that has served the series well thus far, but unfortunately, some unexpected tragedies occur that are completely out of the control of a production team. That was the case when Kamar de los Reyes, the actor best known for One Life to Live and the Call of Duty: Black Ops games, sadly passed away in 2023 from cancer. The character that de los Reyes plays in Daredevil: Born Again isn't a random side character either, but a pivotal New York-based vigilante who has quite a large role to play in the battle for New York's very soul. It's entirely appropriate that Episode 2 of Daredevil: Born Again...

Throughout its run, All American has said goodbye to some wonderful characters, including Coach Montes (Kamar de los Reyes). The series premiered on October 10, 2018, and has been an integral part of the CW's lineup since, with All American season 7 set to be released in early 2025. Throughout its six-season run, the show saw many cast changes, with its most significant occurring when Spencer James actor Daniel Ezra left All American.
Another important character who had an early exit on the show was Coach Montes, who first appeared in All American season 4 as the head football coach of Coastal California College. Perhaps the biggest impact Coach Montes left on the series as a whole was his relationship with Asher Adams (Cody Christian), as he helped mentor Adams throughout their time on the screen together. Unfortunately, Coach Montes' time on All American was cut short by a personal tragedy that happened away from the series.

All American honored the late Kamar de los Reyes on Monday night’s (June 3) episode, five months after the actor died. De los Reyes, who played Coastal California’s Coach Montes on the hit CW series, passed away in December after a brief battle with cancer. As a result, he could only appear in the Season 6 premiere, as that was all he was able to film before his death. While other characters, specifically Cody Christian’s Asher Adams, have referenced Coach Montes throughout the season, there had been no explanation on-screen for his absence. However, on Monday’s episode, the show wrapped up the character’s storyline by revealing he’d accepted a job with the NFL. Asher, who had grown close to Coach Montes over the series, spent the episode keeping his distance so he could avoid having to say goodbye. However, by the end of the episode, Asher...
