Go To The Fucking Boiler Room.
After seven weeks of our Icons and Anniversaries theme, which included titles like Bob Clark’s Black Christmas (listen), Kevin S. Tenney’s Night of the Demons (listen), and Robert Zemeckis’ Death Becomes Her (listen), we’re ready to wrap things up with Wes Craven‘s iconic slasher entry, A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).
In the film, Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp), her boyfriend Glen (Johnny Depp), best friend Tina (Amanda Wyss) and Tina’s on again/off again boyfriend Rod (Nick Corri) are all plagued by the same nightmare of a burned man with knives for fingers.
Then Tina is brutally murdered in her sleep and Rod is blamed for her death. Nancy tries to tell her mother Marge (Ronee Blakely) and Lieutenant father Don (John Saxon) about Fred Krueger (Robert Englund), but the evasive parents refuse to listen.

Indiana Jones and Freddy Krueger are two of the most popular film characters of all time...but that's not the only thing the two share in common. Stylistically speaking, Indiana and Freddy, are on opposing ends, but they do rely on the same accessory for their signature looks: a fedora hat. But could anyone confuse the two characters? Why you would think the obvious answer is "no," during a recent interview with People, Englund shared how he convinced A Nightmare on Elm Street creator Wes Craven and producer Bob Shaye not to change Freddy's headwear.
"They were trying to change the hat on me. They literally had me in a paperboy hat for 30 seconds and I felt like I was auditioning for Newsies. It was kind of silly. So I defend the fedora, which is in the original script, which is Wes' idea and concept. But they were just getting panicky at the last minute.

Fred fooled the internet with fake TV series poster, created by a satirical Facebook site. Despite a detailed synopsis and poster being released, the Fred series is not real. The internet's ability to blur the lines between real and fake is seen in full effect with the Fred poster.
A poster for a mystery TV series entitled Fred fooled the internet into believing that Rob Zombie has been working on a new TV series based on A Nightmare on Elm Street. However, as is often the case, things are not entirely as they seem, and the poster is not for a real series, but is a fake concept created by online content creator Yoda Bby Aby.

The episode of The Best of the Worst focusing on Freddy Krueger was written, narrated, and edited by Mike Holtz.
You wanna know what makes Freddy Krueger so scary? I mean, other than his obvious need to moisturize? He’s unavoidable. As unavoidable as death, taxes and Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce news stories. All he needs to be able to heinously take you out is for you to eventually sleep… and everyone sleeps. Everyone also poops but they haven’t made that movie yet. Just a really well marketed children’s book. See, you can physically escape Michael Myers. Hell, the guy can’t even run! He power walks. Like your grandparents in the mall before the shops open in the morning. You can escape Jason Voorhees by simply wearing his dead mom’s clothing and bossing him around. Some people would just call that a nice Friday night in.
