Ranna is a Kannada actor, writer and director born in Bangalore along with two sisters to Shakunthala, who ran a family cow dairy, a women's apparel boutique and a homemaker and Krishna Kumar, a student leader, agriculturist and politician.
Ranna started out as an advertising executive selling ad spots and eventually getting into production. In 2011, he founded Black Linus Studios International LLP, a production company with the intent of gaining expertise in all aspects of filmmaking.
Writing started as poems and tidbits during young days. Ranna wrote and directed his first play in 2010 and staged it in 2016. Before coming into mainstream cinema, Ranna wrote, directed and acted in shoestring indies Indian Laundry (2017) and Nalku Kallaru Ondhu Apaharana (2017).
Ranna lives in Bengaluru.
