Jason Clarke has joined Patricia Arquette on the currently untitled limited series on the Murdaugh Family set at Hulu.

Clarke will take on the role as the family patriarch Alex Murdaugh, while Arquette will play Maggie Murdaugh. The show is based on the Murdaugh family story and draws from the reporting of journalist Mandy Matney, the creator of the ‘Murdaugh Murders Podcast.’

The series description reads; On the surface, Alex Murdaugh (Clarke) seems to have it all: wealth, status, and unchecked privilege in rural Hampton County, South Carolina where four generations of Murdaughs have built a sprawling legal dynasty. Hulu has announced that Jason Clarke would appear in a new limited series on Alex Murdaugh, a notorious South Carolina lawyer convicted of murdering his wife and children. The show will examine the startling criminal case that revealed the dark secrets of a strong Southern legal dynasty.

Clarke, who also appeared in Oppenheimer and HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, will play Alex Murdaugh. Patricia Arquette has also been cast as Maggie Murdaugh, the family matriarch.

The series is based on Mandy Matney’s popular Murdaugh Murders Podcast, which looked into the prominent attorney’s demise. Murdaugh, who was once a respected figure in Hampton County, was condemned in 2023 to two consecutive life sentences without parole for the murders of his wife Maggie and their son Paul in 2021.

Hulu is moving forward with a new limited series inspired by the real-life story of convicted killer Alex Murdaugh. It's now been revealed who will be playing Murdaugh in the show, and it's one of the stars of the Terminator franchise who more recently appeared in Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer.

Per Deadline, it's been reported that Jason Clarke will portray Murdaugh in the untitled series. Clarke is one of a handful of actors to play the key role of John Connor, taking on the part in 2015's Terminator Genisys. His other big film roles include Zerk Dark Thirty, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, First Man, Pet Sematary, and The Devil All the Time. More recently, Clarke starred as former L.A. Lakers coach Jerry West in the HBO series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty and played Ranger Robb in last year's smash hit Oppenheimer.

Universal-owned animation studio Illumination surprised fans with a Halloween special based on its popular Sing franchise. The special, Sing: Thriller, was released on Netflix this Wednesday and announced the day before.

The 11-minute short sees the cast and characters reenact scenes from the music video for the famous 1983 Michael Jackson song “Thriller.” Many of the actors, such as Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Kroll, Taron Egerton, and Tori Kelly, return for the special. Garth Jennings, director of the first two films, also returns to direct and voice the character Ms. Crawly.

Netflix is expanding its annual "Netflix & Chills" line-up with a brand new installment into the popular Sing universe! Starting on October 16, subscribers will be able to watch a spooky short film titled Sing: Thriller, based on Illuminations animated movies Sing and Sing 2. Catch up with some of your favorite characters as they team up for a Halloween surprise based on Michael Jackson's iconic "Thriller" music video.
