Was a competitive gymnast for seven years as a child.

Competed in the 1995 Miss Georgia pageant as Miss Gwinnett County.

Diagnosed with breast cancer following an on-air mammogram on October 1, 2013, and subsequent tests. During a bilateral mastectomy to remove the cancer, it was discovered that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes necessitating chemotherapy, radiation and reconstruction surgery.

Graduated from the University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism in 1995.

As a child she lived in East Lansing, Michigan and then St. Louis, Missouri. Just before high school, her family moved to Snellville, Georgia where she attended Brookwood High School.

Has two daughters from her first marriage to Tim McIntosh: Anna McIntosh (born in 2003) & Ava McIntosh (born in 2007).

Nominated for a 2002 Regional Emmy (National Capitol Chesapeake Bay) in the category "News Segments: General News/Delayed Air" for her reporting on "Danger Zone.".
