In a 20-minute conversation about creating the fearsome Dedra Meero for “Andor,” actor Denise Gough mentions the show’s writing exactly seven times.
Nine times, if you count the last mention — “The writing, the writing, the writing!” — as multiple, but it’s hard to fault the Irish actor for being so thoroughly enamored with the scripts by Tony Gilroy, Dan Gilroy, Beau Willimon, and Stephen Schiff.
“It’s like a great play,” she told IndieWire over Zoom, speaking of how everything on “Andor” came together with the writing as its foundation. “Get out of the way. Don’t overthink it, don’t try and manage things or get out in front of it. You let it carry you along.”
Gough comes from the theater, where Gilroy saw her on stage a few years ago. “He saw Dedra then,” she said. “He’s the one that saw each of us and...

Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of Andor. Well, Season 1 of Andor has come and gone in what feels like flash with the season finale entitled, "Rix Road". We saw several storylines advanced in the process including how Maarva's (Fiona Shaw) impassioned holographic speech served as the inspiration for an uprising on Ferrix. Cassian (Diego Luna) made his way back home in time to save his old friend Bix (Adria Arjona) from further torture at the hands of Isb Supervisor Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) and Dr. Gorst (Joshua James). And we also see Cassian tell Luthen (Stellan Skarsgård) that he is finally all in with the Alliance and the rebellion. But there were a handful of things that were left unanswered that we will have to wait until Season 2 for more clarification.

Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Episodes 1-9 of Andor. The ninth episode of Tony Gilroy’s Andor "Nobody’s Listening!" introduced the audience to a rather gruesome mode of torture — an imperial torture technique. With Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona) absolutely refusing to budge under interrogation of her alliance with Cassian (Diego Luna), Dr. Gorst (Joshua James) takes matters into his own hands, leading things to take a much darker turn. In trying to pry information out of her, the doctor exercises a particularly horrifying means of torture, reminding us of a very specific scene from the show’s parent project Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In more ways than one, the said torture technique happens to be reminiscent of Saw Gerrera’s (Forest Whitaker) use of the Mairan, Bor Gullet, on rebel Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed).

Once-loyal deputies continue to turn on Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes.
A third Oath Keepers militiaman entered a guilty plea on Wednesday for participating in a “seditious conspiracy” to keep Donald Trump in office by use of force — a plot allegedly masterminded by Rhodes.
William Todd Wilson, 45, is an Oath Keeper from North Carolina who wasn’t included in the initial conspiracy indictment filed back in January. Wilson was formally charged Tuesday, shortly in advance of his plea hearing, where Wilson also pleaded guilty to obstructing the official proceeding of the Electoral College.

The Jan. 6 committee on Monday requested the voluntary cooperation of three of former President Trump’s biggest supporters in Congress: Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), and Ronny Jackson (R-Texas).
The committee referenced Biggs’ alleged role regarding “various aspects of planning for Jan. 6.” Rolling Stone reported last fall that Biggs was one of several lawmakers who participated in the planning of the rally near the White House that preceded the riot at the Capitol. It noted how Brooks recently said that Trump asked him to “rescind” the 2020 election and...
