Gonzalo Otero is a Peruvian film director and screenwriter with a master's degree in screenwriting. He has directed eight fiction short films, earning national and international awards and recognition. Additionally, he has directed commercials for prestigious brands, achieving international accolades in advertising.
Otero is the director and co-screenwriter of the horror feature film The Devil's Teardrop, his directorial debut, where he also served as Executive Producer. The Devil's Teardrop won the Golden Skull at the 2024 Mórbido Film Fest in the Latin America Category.
An interesting aspect of Otero's life is his dedication to martial arts and combat sports, having earned black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Karate, along with six professional MMA fights. Combining his fighting expertise with his filmmaking skills, he has worked as a fight scene choreographer for several Peruvian and international feature films.
In addition to his creative work, Otero has served as an advisor, coordinator, and academic director at prestigious higher education institutions. He has also been a film professor for over 20 years.
